Israeli author Hovav Heth is a prolific writer and has currently published five books. Three of his books:
1. A Lobster's State of Mind (a collection of interesting short stories)
2. Where Has Joseph the Snail Gone? (an illustrated children’s book)
3. Just Once (A suspense book)
were translated to English and are currently published worldwide.

Hovav has a Master of Business Administration and legal degrees.
Before fulfilling his ambition to become a published writer, Hovav worked for one of the biggest companies in Israel, and his experience inspired him to write about the Israeli start-up scene.

This is a gloomy book.

Sorry, but I didn't like this book. It annoyed me that the author had at least 2 stories having to do with eating lobster, an unclean animal to the Jews. Lobster's considered to be shellfish and a scavenger. None of the stories had happy endings. The very first story was rather sy-fi and had an abrupt ending. The second was much the same and the rest of the book was no better.

Started well then got progressively worse

I liked the first story - well told and provacative. As I continued reading other stories, it got more and more bizarre, like a stream of sexual fantasy consciousness. Toward the end of the book - yes I read the whole thing - the punctuation, line spacing, and then the pages were all jumbled. I do NOT recommend this book.

Formatting matters, folks

Some of the furnishing in this was so whacked I had trouble filtering the storylines, particularly near the end. The writing style is a bit odd, like translations that are too word for word. A good proofreading of the e-file could work wonders.

Some Thought Provoking Stories

Overall, I enjoyed most the stories and they made me think. The last story, A Dream Match was backwards that is you had to read the right side of the two pages and then the left side which was a bit annoying.

Non endings

Other than the Lobster story, the rest are incomplete and end abruptly. Many of them are filled with nonsensical, unneeded descriptions and details.

I love short stories and find them to be very enjoyable to read. This book included 12 different short stories and all of them were very entertaining. I liked how the book was broken up so I could read a short story during one of my breaks at school or during my lunch hour. I found the short story on the stripper's love life to be very intriguing! I think that the author really put everything into this book and it turned out well. I also enjoyed the story about the pop singer trying to make a comeback. The settings in this book were wonderful and were based in Israel. I have always dreamed of going to Israel and felt that the author did a wondrous job of describing the setting. I would recommend this book and hope to read more from this author very soon.

This book was an unexpected gem. Set in Israel the short stories cover a wide range of subjects with an intertwining of some characters. Very well written and highly recommended.

This is a book with short stories. I never read them, but this one sounded interesting. The first story was good and then they went down hill from there. I hate to stop reading a book and I was interested how this book would go on and end. I felt like I wasted my time. I would say find another book to read, life's to short not to read a good book.
