David Randall, a private detective short of work, invites his psychic friend Camden into a case. Miss Viola Mitchell, an aging local actress, has recently been reported missing. The Parkland PD's Jordan Finley objects to Randall and Cam inspecting Viola's home, claiming the police don't need their help. Moments later, despite the array of birds and cats perfuming the residence, Cam advises Finley, "Check the basement." Viola is neatly planted there in a square of dirt. Who would kill her? Why? Are others targeted? Is a local performer twisted by jealousy? Could a role in a Parkland Little Theatre production, maybe My Fair Lady or Arsenic and Old Lace, have caused her death? Cam goes undercover at the theater while rejecting demands from his fiancée that they marry this month. His psychic gifts have expanded to levitate objects, make garbage cans dance in the street, and restrain a car from hitting a lady. He fears for their children. She wants to put him on television. Meanwhile, a new Grace Street client, owner of popular BeautiQueen Cosmetics, is searching for her arrogant, absconding partner. Randall tracks him to Clearwater, Florida, and soon finds himself chasing shoplifters stealing pharmaceuticals and helping a jazz musician woo his woman while failing to woo his own love, Kary. Will Randall and Cam piece all this together?

I didn't realize until after I'd started reading it that this was part of a series of books - in fact it is number 4 of The Grace Street Mysteries. It doesn't detract from the reading experience and I was perfectly happy to read this as a stand alone book. However I would like to go back and read the other three books to give the characters a bit more background and context.

David Randall is a private detective who works with his psychic friend to help solve cases. The mix of the supernatural with the detective stories is a good fit and the stories flow very nicely. The characters are well written and quite sweet. The relationships between David and his assortment of friends is just as important as the detective stories themselves.

Overall I really enjoyed it and will look out for the rest in the series.

Just You Wait is the fourth book in the Grace Street Mystery series, and – it was yet another fun read by mystery writer, Jane Tesh.

In this episode, Randall (one of the series’ main protagonists) still resides at 302 Grace Street, as does the complete cast of the previous Grace Street Mystery books. With regard to Randall, being a private investigator means that life is never boring, however there are times when it can be considered ‘slow.’ This barely active period is where the reader, upon starting Just You Wait, will locate Randall.

However, due to the fact that private investigator work is generally feast or famine, Randall isn't idle for very long... A well-known and much-loved actress with the local theater has been missing for several days; there have been a slew of oddly strange, shoplifted items at the neighborhood drug store, and last, but not least, BeautiQueen Cosmetics business owner, Mrs. Folly Harper’s business partner, George Mark McMillan, has run off with a sizeable chunk of money. Mrs. Harper desperately needs Randall to locate him for her.

Camden, the Grace Street house owner (and one of Randall's housemates) is also having significant troubles… His psychic abilities are on the fritz; he has now added telekinesis to his repertoire of unusual talents; and he's trying to stay true to his personal values while still attempting to marry his fiancé.

And, like always, much is not what it seems to be in the small town of Parkland... Viola, the missing actress, has at last been located, but, sadly for her, she was found dead and buried in her home's basement. The mysterious drug store thief has unfortunately, or fortunately, disappeared without so much as a trace, and George McMillan (Mrs. Harper’s business partner), for reasons unbeknownst, has apparently run away to Florida.

With that said, I’m not going to ruin the plot of an intriguing mystery, or three, but I will tell you that Tesh has once again penned a wonderful and riveting suspense which will assuredly keep the reader guessing until the very end.

Anyone who loves a good mystery will enjoy Just You Wait and, due to Tesh's tasteful writing style, Just You Wait can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. In summary, another great read by a mystery writer who is certainly qualified to rub shoulders with Agatha Christie. Five stars…

I can not believe how outstanding this book was! The 4th book in the Grace Street Mystery series made a huge impact on me. The main case for PI David Randall concerned an executive of a cosmetic company running from North Carolina to Clearwater, Florida with stolen funds and formula for an age defying beauty cream. When David finds him, it appears that job is done, but little does he know the mystery is only starting to unwind. He also has an older community theater actress who is murdered and buried in her basement, a good friend who needs his help patching and cementing a relationship, best friend Camden's wedding and the hoopla involved, the death of a long time tenant, Fred, and David must help Cam understand and face new and freaky talents that have recently manifested. During all this there is always his romance with Kary that needs handling with kid gloves. My goodness there is so much going on that the pages just flew by, and I am quite sure this book was longer than the others!
You must read this series in order. Meet the family members, embrace the lifestyle of 302 Grace Street. Each book leaves you with warm feelings. This one ended so spectacularly that I almost shed a few happy tears. (OK Yes I admit it...I cry at weddings!) Please don't miss a chance to read this wonderful book.It has humor and family and love and mystery-something for everyone!

An outstanding paranormal cozy mystery and romance. The background is an old house on Grace Street that is host to a number of struggling individuals. It is the 4th in a series but can be read as a stand alone. The owner Camden has psychic abilities and he doesn't understand why he has them. PI David Marshall is recovering from the lost of his daughter. The all the supporting characters are well developed and they will attract your attention. A member of the cast of a show is missing. David and Cam go the home of the missing woman. Cam finds the woman's body buried in the basement. David is also working a case for the owner of a cosmetic company. He is looking for am employee who has disappeared with a lot of money. All the subplots are skillfully brought together in one story. The ending is a surprise and I did not see it coming. I like the book so much I now reading the first one in the series, STOLEN HEARTS.

Full Disclosure: I received a free copy from Poisoned Pen Press through Netgalley for an honest review. I would like to thank them for the opportunity to read and review this book. The opinions are my own.

Amusing, charming, engaging. All adjectives that apply to this author’s latest outing. This Grace Street mystery once again engages the attention of some unusual characters, including David Randall, who turns his private discerning eye on local shenanigans, Cam, his housemate and struggling psychic, and various hangers-on; the assorted quirky characters one is likely to find in small mid-American towns.
This one concerns the unfortunate murder of a principal character, Viola Mitchell, who was cast in the local amateur theater’s current production of My Fair Lady. She’s not well-liked in town, although she’s a competent actress. Then there’s Randall’s love, Kary, Cam’s about-to-be-wife and a dog named Danger.
Will the imminent wedding throw the Grace Street house into such turmoil and cause a break between Cam and David? Is the murder of Viola tied to the theater, possibly putting Kary in some kind of danger or was Viola targeted because her personality finally rubbed the wrong person the wrong way?
All questions and more that can only be answered by reading this charming, well-plotted and well-written small-town mystery.

Get Caught Up in the Lives of These Wonderful Characters

This is the fourth book in a series. There is no need to read the first three. I haven't - but I want to after finishing this one.

Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for the review copy of this book.

What a unique, fun and charming group of people. I felt as if I knew them all personally by the end of the story.

I will admit, the mystery took a backseat some of the time. There was also A LOT going on in this story. Many, many characters - it wasn't confusing. It felt slightly cluttered.

If you enjoy a good clean story, a whodunit, along with some laughs and romance - pick this one up. I recommend it.

While I prefer Tesh's Madeline Maclin series, partly because of its lack of supernatural elements, this is a really accomplished, interesting book. Private investigator David Randall and his friend and landlord, psychic Camden, go looking for a missing person and discover her body instead. Randall is also hired to find another missing person, but learns he committed suicide in Florida. Camden, jittery about his upcoming marriage, develops a startling new talent and wants to call the wedding off. Tesh brilliantly puts the puzzle pieces together while writing with humor and empathy, but you'll enjoy it more if you're familiar with the characters from the three previous books.

This was a great read and the first I've read in this series. (Grace Street Mysteries). David, a private detective gets help from his friend Camden solving the disappearance of his friend Viola. Camden is a psychic and in the midst of wedding plans. I'm pretty sure many of the people in the story were from previous books in the series but I had no problem following the plot and I'm hoping book 5 will give David his own true love.

It got off to an uncertain start but finished strong. A thought inspiring story of a town and its immigrant population. Many unexpected twists and turns keep you turning the pages until the end.
