Hazel moved to Bliss 3 years ago, looking for an escape, which is exactly what she found, in the Green Mountains of Vermont. She is still reeling from the memories of what sent her there, while working at the local microbrewery, Blissful Brews. Her bosses, Frank & his wife, Wendy, are great. Since it is Stewfest, they are rather slammed in the few hours when people get out of work and drag their gives to the festival. We met Hazel in the previous book about Jess, and Tenebrie Veil, a game, much like World of Warcraft. They were in the same guild and Jess finally met Hazel at Jess & Kane’s wedding.
The best thing about this series is that we get to see previous people from the other series/books. Alec is gorgeous and Hazel has a bit of crush on him, but won’t do anything about it. He owns a security firm. Learning about Alec’s and Hazel’s past was interesting and it made me cry a bit. But, it was also heartwarming as well. Alec is also part of the Green Mountain Guardians (GMG). After Alec walks Hazel to her car, and it is not nice out, he follows a few minutes later because he lives out that way too. What he finds and what Hazel goes thru is terrifying, but it is when I truly fell for Alec, who is a true hero, much like the other retired military guys. All of them after getting out, decided to use their knowledge to save and protect others, including those who can’t pay for it. We find out that there is more going on than we thought with Hazel.
The book is fun, funny, sweet, romantic, steamy, scary, heartbreaking, heartwarming and an emotional roller coaster ride of epic proportions. I loved it and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m going to have to make a family tree for all of them characters soon to keep all the kids right in my head. lol.
I received this advance reading copy for free from Booksirens and am voluntarily leaving this review.
