He swore it would never happen again. Not to his mother. Not to him.

Seventeen-year-old Thaddeus Malloy has one to become a doctor and escape the fists of his brutal stepfather. But when one violent night changes everything, he flees into the wild unknown—armed with a stolen pistol, a head full of ambition, and a new Brody Connor.

As Brody navigates river currents, treacherous strangers, and unforgiving frontier lands, he must rely on grit, instinct, and the kindness of strangers to survive. From dodging bounty hunters to delivering babies, Brody’s journey becomes one of transformation—of both body and soul—in a land where survival demands sacrifice, and every decision writes the next line of your legacy.

But can a wanted boy with a price on his head ever truly outrun the past? Or will his dreams drown in the current of vengeance and regret?

For fans of historical adventures and action-packed Westerns with heart, Never Again delivers grit, hope, and a hero you’ll root for to the last page. Saddle up and start the journey—Brody Connor’s story is just beginning

Thaddeus Malloy has been working for the town doctor and wants to go to medical school. He is very intelligent and a good boy. After the death of hie father his mother marries another man. This soon turns into disaster as the new husband beats his wife and Thaddeus. One day Thaddeus has had enough after he found his mother on the floor barely alive. He fonds his stepfather in their bar and accidentally shoots and kills him when he was tripped. He then gathers what few things he has and steals a boat to escape. This starts a new adventure for the boy who now calls himself Brody Conner. Brody learns survival skills from man old Indian man and also some native medicine. This is just the start of his adventure with more action and suspense to come but I won't spoil that. I really enjoyed his adventures.

Adolescent

NEVER AGAIN, Monty Garner, 12/05/2025
Possibly a 12-year-old boy wrote this book after reading too many shoot'em up dime novels. The premise is that a young boy wants to be a doctor, so after hanging out with the local doctor, he aspires to go to medical school. Before he leaves town, he murders his mother's husband, who regularly beat her unconscious. As he travels, he leaves dead bad men right and left, always "in self defense." Descriptions of the killings are gory and the product of an immature imagination. Nothing about this book makes sense. Certainly not the "nice girl" he meets who acts like a tramp, aggressively making sexual moves on Brody, having met him the same day... yet calling the saloon girl "a hussy." The grammar, punctuation, and shift in tense made me crazy! Obviously, there was no proofreading or editing. Spare me!

I thoroughly enjoy your books. This one was excellent. I really appreciate your having your main characters with "great wisdom and insights". They always think before action. It really makes the book worthwhile reading because you appreciate someone with a "brain"!!! Please continue with this series as long as you continue to give us brilliant writings.

Thank you!

Changing tenses

This was a fun story to read. They characters predictable, but I expect it and sometimes, it's just what I want.
The verbs went from future (example -'will go') to the expected verbs in storytelling. There was no rhyme or reason to the shift. Amusing. Proofreaders, where were you?

The best westerns need a believable hero, one worth rooting for. While some descriptors of Brody are a bit over the top, this is a true “white hat” who demonstrates self-reliance and standing for what you believe in.

Just OK

A story hard to take seriously because of its brevity, lack of depth and detail. I will not be following.
