Ten years as a prisoner. Ten years of torment and survival.
I was our enemies’ omega prize—an unwilling weapon in their war. My mind-reading gift kept me alive, but also made me their greatest asset. I learned their secrets, endured their cruelties, and buried all hope of freedom.
Until him.
Rhett is no ordinary alpha. He’s haunted, broken, and agoraphobic. He’s also a criminal hacker capable of bringing governments—and anyone who crosses him—to their knees.
He was supposed to be temporary. A stand-in to see me through an unexpected, stress-induced heat… until we broke the rules with our reckless, forbidden bond.
I’m no fool. My own people will exploit me. Our enemies will try to reclaim me so they can use me, too.
But my salvation comes with strings.
And the only thing standing between me and my destruction is the alpha whose mark binds me to him, whether we want it or not.
This is the first book of the series I read. For me, there wasn't enough world building, almost every character was a big bad man and the couple didn't really get to know each other. Also, the MMC slept with multiple women seconds before meeting the FMC and after a shower and redoing his bed helped the FMC through her heat (they didn't know each other, she was brought to his bedroom) and they became mates. Ethan, a protagonist from another part of the series gave Andrew Tate vibes. I get the "I'm a golden retriever for my woman and for everyone else I'm a Rottweiler" or whatever, but his murder fantasies were just too much.

This book is incredibly fast-paced. At times, it felt like I was skimming rather than truly reading every word, as the time jumps and abrupt chapter endings were a bit jarring. There are also OW scenes at the beginning, but how Rhett treated Larissa made me forget how icky they felt in the moment.
Nevertheless, the plot is captivating, and the writing quality is impressive, with no glaring grammatical or continuity errors. I found it enjoyable and engaging enough that I devoured it in one sitting.
In this book we follow Larissa—whom we first met in Lily, Ethan, and Ryker’s story, when Lily struggles with Ethan’s absence and we learn what he endured while trapped with Larissa—and Rhett, Lucian’s brother. Ethan brings Larissa back from the Uncorrupted and essentially hands her over to Lucian, who in turn “gifts” her to Rhett for safekeeping. The moment Larissa and Rhett come into contact, sparks fly—largely because Larissa falls into heat the second she’s near him.
What follows gets intense quickly. Lucian explicitly warns Rhett not to bite or bond with her… but of course that’s exactly what happens. Larissa is drawn to Rhett just as strongly and wants the bond as much as he does.
But things go sideways fast. Ethan stole Larissa from General Cohen, who wants her back at all costs. Soon Ethan, Rhett, Lucian, and Zeb Thorne (a black-ops specialist the government only calls when they want results—and absolutely no questions asked) are forced to work together to protect Larissa and to avenge everything she’s suffered.
They end up staging Larissa’s death, managing to escape, and ultimately delivering Cohen the brutal justice he deserves. Rhett and Larissa get their well-earned HEA.
I absolutely cannot wait to read Zeb’s story next!

Two broken individuals are shoved together in Adam Storm's new book in The Controllers series. Rhett, an Alpha who prefers watching the world through his monitor screen where the strength of his mind and skills can take him anywhere he chooses without having to leave his home. Larissa, a mind reading Omega, once lost to the Empire, having been returned and once again hidden away. Her real heat hits and it hits hard and Rhett is the only Alpha available to help her through it. Neither of them expected the other but when a forbidden bond is formed, two broken pieces are about to find that they fit together perfectly.
I really enjoyed this one. Both Rhett and Larissa have a dark past, demons they are trying to forget and yet they also have so much hope for a better future. Their instant connection to one another was intense. The car scene was so HOT! But I have questions!!! Not sure if Ada Storm will expand more on these two or not because their pairing is just so interesting. Fingers crossed, but if not, I'm sure they'll make an appearance in future books. Great addition to the series for sure!
I first got to know Rhett from a previous book as his brother was the main character in that story but had thought that Rhett should have his story told and I loved that it has come together in this story.. Larissa has been a captive Omega with uncontrolled, bullied and manipulated into reading minds of tortured alphas for secrets against the empire, but when her heat becomes imminent, the General she is under gives her a choice of Alphas to break her heat with, but in choosing sets her on another path. Larissa is past on to another Alpha before being placed in Rhett’s company to break her heat only to become bonded against all else. I loved the twists and the suspense as Larissa and Rhett with battle those who held and tortured her for years and to a point for Rhett to battle his agoraphobia, definitely a hard to put down read for me..
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Larissa can’t believe it. She’s going to be forced to do something she has been able to avoid her whole ten years under the Uncorrupted’s control. They are going to forced her to go through her heat with an alpha. Or at least that’s what Jenda threatens. Will Cohen follow through with it? Will he make her do this with an alpha? Will she ever be able to escape from the clutches of the Uncorrupted?
I like the addition of Larissa’s story to this series. It added quite a bit to the overall storyline and world building. We got to see more of some of the characters that we have already met in previous books as well. It was interesting to see how the abilities that Larissa had that evolved. I can’t wait to see who else will get a story in this series.
Finally, Finally! THAT ONE! story and THAT? story too
I love the series. I am curious to know how the war goes I adored Rhett from his first appearance. I was intrigued by Larissa from her first mention.
I hoped first and then waited to read both Rhett and Larissa's stories. Each one. And then this book happened. NEVER thought their story would be this harsh, strong, fast and unexpectedly healing? The quote: "I know nothing of tomorrow. Nor even of what awaits us today. Only the here and now." is a little gem of peace in the midst of the chaos of their story, the uncertainty, the chaos and the ongoing war.
This story is also hilarious as I share some of Rhett's humor...
Larissa has only known suffering, ever since her “gift” revealed. She was sought after and taken by the Uncorrupted and used for their plight. She did everything she could to stay alive even though it went against every fiber of her being. Rhett has an amazing skill set and uses it to benefit those he cares about. Although his mind is his greatest tool, it is also his biggest downfall. In this book both Larissa and Rhett have to face their faults head on to survive. I am so very happy with how this book was written and how the story unfolded. Absolutely wonderful writing and I am excited to read about Jeb in the next book.
I don't think I'll ever get tired of this series. I'm so happy this author is getting back into the controller world! And I'm even more happy that we get Rhett's story with this one! And Larissa is really the perfect omega for him. Even if they are Forbidden from mating. . . This was such an easy read. I'm also super looking forward to the next book!! Highly recommend this series if you like dark Omegaverse. It is very addicting to read!
Rhett and Larissa "Oops, look at that. I've marked you. Must be mine now. " Rhett pg 48 Loved the banter between Rhett and Lucian. I aso love how the omegas in this series end up with some badass powers. This one seemed to actually have more depth, growth, and development than the other ones. I really enjoyed it. I liked how through their bonding, they were able to help each other heal in some ways, but also not completely.
This is book 11 of The Controllers series. The characters were very well written and developed. Plot was intriguing and exciting. World building was well thought out. A very good read. Recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

So happy to see a new controllers book. The spice is there, the characters are amazing and I devoured the book very quickly! If you like growly alphas who are totally gone for their omega, this is a great series for you! Rhett needed a special omega and I'm so happy he got one.
I really enjoyed Larissa and Rhett's story! They've both been through so much and I loved the peace they found in each other. A dark, spicey, dystopian omegaverse, but without the strong BDSM undertones the other books in the series have. Overall great story; I recommend.
Forbidden Bonds is a dark, intense Omegaverse romance that combines suspense, forbidden desire, and high-stakes survival. Ada Storm delivers a gripping story of power, control, and reluctant connection that keeps readers on edge.
I guess I’m not as into alphahole “controllers” as I thought! Rhett just does it for me. I like his desperation and clinginess and need to be good for Larissa. Phew.
I have been waiting for Rhett and Larissa’s story and it is a good one! Forbidden Bonds is book 11 in The Controllers series. We have met these characters in past books and starting the series from the beginning will only enhance your enjoyment. This is an original and entertaining Omegaverse and you do not want to miss a thing.
The characters draw you in and there is plenty of action, adventure and spice. This book is pretty emotional and the characters deal with some traumas and anxieties that only enhance their story. So good!
I am diving right into the net book in the series, Feral Adaptation!
