I wasn’t meant to bond. She wasn’t meant to matter.
I’m a covert operative—trained to infiltrate, eliminate, and vanish without a trace.
But a last-minute reassignment saddles me with the wrong kind of healer as my cover—one who sees through the mask, straight to my core.
Too deep. Too fast. Too close to obsession. And a mission too important to pull back.
When she sacrifices herself to save me, I do the one thing I was never supposed to do—I bond.
Now she’s trapped on the enemy’s ship… and I’m about to unleash a secret that defies the laws of nature. Because when danger calls, it triggers a feral adaptation. One that neither of us can control.
Two unique MC's with Zeb a rare Zeta and Esme a sweet healer omega. A gripping plot with a secret and dangerous mission, interesting worldbuilding and great characters.
Zeb, one of the few documented Zeta - true shifter - has been given a secret mission and in order to execute it, he's been tasked to become an Alpha Controller and has been assigned an Omega, Esme. Esme, is an older Omega with healing abilities. However, her singularity is a little more unique than the regular healers making things more complicated. Also, being an older Omega, she wants to be claimed. However, luck has not been on her side and she sees each assignment and investment where an Alpha Controller walks away afterwards as a lost chance to be claimed and mated. Her dream of having a mate and children of her own, slowly slipping away. But her connection to Zeb is different. He feels different and this assignment is off. Before she knows it, she'll sacrifice everything to ensure Zeb is safe.
We finally get a full story with a Zeta and let's just say, the wait was well worth it!!! I still can't believe Ada Storm has not given us more. Of course, Zeb has made appearance in the previous books but we never got enough to satisfied us, or at least me, LOL. I really want more Zetas!!! Alas, if you read this book, you will find out why there may not be more for this dynamic. But I really hope that if this series continues, we get another book on these two or at least have them make an appearance like all previous characters have. Highly recommended read!
It’s a hot one. Ada brings new designations and wild powers to this story, which adds more umf to the story. Zeb is a zeta, a true shifter. Esme is a healer of mind, body and soul, but few have knowledge of her hidden talents. She is a last-minute substitute for the healer position. Their mission is to save the omegas and fight the Uncorrupted forces that are far from true humans. All she wants is to be loved and owned inside and out. Zeb thinks no one could want him because of his shifting. Her biological clock is ticking in her mind. Esme listens to Zeb, but she doesn’t hear his warnings. Their bond grows quickly. Each one wants to save the other. Please check the trigger warnings; there is spanking/discipline.
Another gripping release in the Controller series and one that takes me on a thrilling rollercoaster ride of smouldering heat and a thrill ride of suspense. Zeb’s dynamic is a rarity a Zeta with an ability to shape shift and to clone others he is sent on a secret military mission under the cover of a controlling alpha he must have an omega. Esme is an omega with healing abilities but has a secret powerful singularity, she is brought in as a last minute substitute for a mission but feels not all is as it seems with Zeb her controller. The connection between these two literally melts the pages as they sink deeper into the mission parameters they become separated now the race is on to find each other…
Feral Adaptation is the twelfth book in The Controllers series and is written by Ada Storm.
💜 secret missions 💜 zeta, alphas, and omegas 💜 war 💜 mating 💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶 spice
Zeb is on yet another undercover mission for the military. That really is all he knows as he is a zeta. This gives him the unique ability to change his appearance whenever he needs. This makes him uniquely qualified to complete this mission. But he has to be something he hasn’t had a chance to be yet, and alpha controller. Will he be able to pull it off? Will his mission be successful? Will he keep on going with the military and their missions that they send him on
I really liked this addition to the series. Zeb’s character is different than the others and he lends a different lens to the world around him because of that. We still get to see interactions with past characters as well and that’s so fun. We also get more of a glimpse of the behind the scenes with the Uncorrupted as well and that was a neat part of the storyline too. I really enjoyed reading this installment in the series.
When I dutifully started with Empath awakening, I didn't think I would get so invested in this story, these characters, that universe.
Every book explains a little more about the realities and dynamics (both definitions of the word here) of these societies. Only to raise more questions and curiosity.
Like the men in the books, I am ravenous for more. Like their interests I can hardly wait to see what's next.
This book gives us a peak at all our buddy Zeb is and could be, while showing more of what's beneath the water of the Icebergs Omegas are...
And like after every other book all I can think of is, when do I get my next...
Loved!!! Great addition to The Controllers series. Zeb and Esme were great characters. Zeb was amazing, and I love this new addition of Zeta's to the omegaverse world. Zeta is like the best characteristics of each of the castes combined into one caste. Some of his inner monologues were hilarious. Esme was sweet and care, though she had a lot of self-doubt in regards to being enough to have a mate. Which was so relatable. Zeb had self-doubt about not being enough for Esme, too (because he was an alpha). He just didn't care and was claiming anyway.
Zeb is a tool and he has come to terms with it and uses it to his advantage in life. Esme is an Omega but not and has done her best to help other omegas process life and their struggles. This book is all about how their two lives are interconnected and how even the copper virus cannot control lives as expected.
Absolutely loved every single, depraved and delicious moment of this book and series.
I really enjoyed Esme and Zeb's story! It's a super spicy, dark, dystopian omegaverse with moderate BDSM undertones. One of the things I enjoy most about this series is all the different dynamics and their interplay, so it was cool to have a story about a zeta and omega, instead of just the typical alpha/omega pairing. I suggest reading this series in order, and recommend it for anyone who enjoys dark dystopian omegaverse romances.
This 8s Book 12 of The Controllers series. Can be read as a standalone.
The characters were compelling and well matched. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was well developed and solidly drawn. All in all a very good addition to the series. Recommend.
Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love that we get Zeb's story finally. I've been curious about the Zeta designation since I first read about it in this series. So finally getting to know more about it was awesome. Plus Esme was so great with Zeb. She is such a sweet Omega. I really enjoyed their story!.
I loved Zeb and only wish that I liked Esme half as much. She was reckless, overly emotional and just not very bright. The plot is quite fast-paced, and it's a quick and easy read.
Feral Adaptation is book 12 in The Controllers series. There is so much that goes on in the overall series that reading from the beginning and in order, in my opinion, is a must and if you like the Omegaverse genre like I do you won’t regret this amazing binge read!
Feral Adaptation is the last book in the series and I really hope there will be more in the future. This is a very original Omegaverse concept with unique character dynamics and the MMC here is the rarest of them all. The entire series is unique, entertaining and full of action, adventure, friends, foes and spice. The series is well written with strong story lines and intriguing characters. I highly recommend!
