Fresh from divorce and desperate for a clean slate, Clara Wren inherits her grandmother’s crumbling house deep in the Ozark woods. She plans to restore it, sell it, and move on. But the locals whisper warnings, calling the women of her bloodline the “Red Women of the Ridge.”
Behind locked doors and beneath peeling wallpaper, Clara uncovers messages scratched into the walls, charred photographs, and letters soaked in secrets. Night after night, her dreams twist into something darker—her grandmother whispering in a language she doesn’t understand, urging her to leave before the third moon.
When storms cut the phone lines, her car won’t start, and shadows gather at the treeline, Clara realizes the house isn’t just haunted—it’s waiting. And it wants her.
Some inheritances can’t be sold. They can only be survived.
I’m not sure I can fully put into words how much I loved this book, but I’m going to try—because it deserves it.
Gideon’s writing is stunning. The way he describes a scene makes it feel like you’re watching a movie unfold in real time. From page one, the story built itself in my mind so vividly. It’s haunting, atmospheric, and completely captivating.
