Some love stories don’t stay buried, no matter how far you run.
Hazel Pierce has three goals for coming back to Star Falls: 1. Help her estranged dad. 2. Keep things strictly temporary. 3. Absolutely, under no circumstances, fall for Tucker Colburn again.
That plan dies a dramatic, soggy death when a rogue wasp sting sends Hazel swerving off the road and into the river—only to be hauled out, half-drowned and furious, by the Star Falls Fire Department’s finest. Unfortunately, “finest” is ex–best friend, ex–one-night mistake, and the man she’s been avoiding for a decade.
Tucker’s always had a way of getting into her head. And now between a family that thrives on gossip and a town that’s way too small for all this chemistry, Hazel’s running out of ways to avoid the truth. As sparks turn into late-night confessions and slow, toe-curling kisses, Hazel has to decide if she’s done running—from her past, from this town, and from the only man who’s ever made her feel like home. And Tucker has to prove that this time, he’s not just her safe place to crash—he’s her always.

If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.
She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.

This book hooked me right from the beginning. I absolutely loved the humor and chemistry between Tucker and Hazel. Honestly, Hazel's relationship with everyone in this book was really fun to read because she has so much personality to her.
I flew through this book so fast and it's gotten me excited for more books from Shalvis. This is the type of writing I love to read from her - something lighthearted, humorous and romantic. I hope that Shalvis will stick to this style of writing and this publisher as it reminds me of the first books I read and loved from her.
Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a fan who has followed the Colburn Brothers series from the start, I'll be upfront: books one and two had my heart completely, and this third installment, while still a wonderful read, didn't quite reach those same heights for me. That said, Jill Shalvis delivers her signature warmth, humor, and small-town charm, and Tucker and Hazel's story is absolutely worth your time.
Tucker is genuinely one of the most lovable heroes in this series - a firefighter with a golden heart who has quietly carried a torch for Hazel for over a decade. Hazel is a more complex character: fiercely independent, carrying real wounds from her past, and absolutely convinced she doesn't deserve good things. Their foundation as childhood best friends gives the romance real emotional depth, and the history between them made the second-chance angle feel earned.
Where the book lost a little steam for me was the constant push and pull between Tucker and Hazel. The back and forth - connect, retreat, misunderstand, repeat- started to wear on me after a while. I found myself wanting to shake them both and just let them get there already. The miscommunications felt a touch overextended, and it chipped away at some of the satisfaction I was hoping to feel as their story built toward resolution.
The supporting cast continues to shine, and getting updates on the previous couples was a delight. Shalvis also brings a bit more emotional weight to this installment than the earlier books, which I appreciated even when it made for a slower pace.
Overall, a warm and satisfying close to the Colburn Brothers trilogy, just not the standout of the series for me personally. Fans who have been waiting for Tucker and Hazel's story will not be disappointed. And yes, I am absolutely hoping Kiera gets her own book next.
Highly recommended for fans of second-chance romance, small-town settings, and found family vibes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Jill Shavis for the BEST ARC EVER.
Falling Into You by Jill Shalvis completely stole my heart. Hazel and Tucker’s second chance romance is full of heartbreak, healing, and a beautifully raw kind of love that lingers long after the last page.
It flips emotional expectations in the best way, giving us vulnerability, grief, and growth that feel deeply real. Even the miscommunication and third-act breakup—usually my least favorite tropes—felt natural and necessary here.
This story hurt, healed, and stayed with me… and honestly? I’m already ready to reread it.
I enjoyed Tucker and Hazel’s story of second chances so much! It was the perfect ending to the Colburn brothers trilogy….now Kiera needs her second chance story!!
A return to the Colburn’s where we finally learn what’s going on being Tucker and Hazel!!!
Tucker Colburn is the youngest Colburn brother and works not only with Colburn Restoration but also as a full time firefighter. He has regrets in his life like anyone else but his biggest one is letting Hazel walk out of his life when they were younger. She has been it for him since nearly day one and now that she’s back, he doesn’t know how to get back to what they once were.
Hazel Pierce left town years ago and never looked back, much anyway. She’s back to watch over her dad after his heart attack and has picked up some work with Colburn Restoration in the mean time. Hazel has spent a lot of her time avoiding Tucker and her painful memories but that is coming to an end.
A vehicle mishap puts Hazel back in Tucker’s company and from there, they come to a tentative truce that’s leads to something more. As they build on the foundation of their past friendship and struggle to build it into something more, past and present secrets come crashing in that may ruin what they have before they can really set their relationship into stone.
This was a wonderful story!!! It was at times realistically serious, super funny and a bit chaotic. It made you want to cheer for the characters and strangle them at the same time lol. I can’t wait for Kiera’s story!!!
Book 3 in the Colburn brothers brings us Tucker, the commitment-phobic, emotionally non-disclosing firefighter brother. Did I mention he's a firefighter?? Yeah. Swoonworthy to be sure. Hazel was a hellion to raise after her mom died when Haze was a teenager and because of that, she had a terrible time with her father, and acted out continually. In all honesty, this poor girl could have benefited totally from a little therapy. But...if she had....well, this book wouldn't be this book. Anyhoo. Tucker has always been in love with Hazel, hence the commitment-phobic personality to the other females around him. But Hazel has never felt worthy of love, especially since her father kicked her out of the house at 18 and she asked Tucker to run away with her, but he had some legit reasons for staying in Star Falls. I'll let you read the story to find out the reasons. Suffice it to say, these two people belong together, but both are terrified of having their hearts stomped on, and in Hazel's world, she feels she's unworthy of love. Told with the usual sexy banter, deep dialogue subtext, and female friendships and bonds Shalvis is famous for, book three is as wonderful as books 1 and 2 were, and ties up the three brothers well. Now...I wonder if sister Kiera is going to get her own HEA with a hunky construction man we all know??
Hazel is far from what you’d expect. She’s been through it and then some, her dad is a bit of a thorn in a few sides, Tucker is the one she once had but lost, and the secrets are bound to come tumbling out eventually. But Hazel is also incredibly likable because she feels so undeserving. She is certain she doesn’t belong anywhere and that she’s always the last choice, if chosen at all. She’s still here, though. Still trying. And still wishing that people would see who she is and not the hurting girl she once was.
As for Tucker, he’s sort of looking for misery. He wants Hazel to pay for hurting him, but he’s forgetting that he hurt her, too. Communication is key and it’s almost his downfall here. But he catches a clue and has a bit of a come to Jesus talk, courtesy of the man who can’t really talk now, but it sets his head right. Now he had needs to make sure Hazel knows she’s always his first choice.
These brothers are sometimes overgrown children, but what men aren’t? Heck, what siblings aren’t? And they always have each other’s backs. Even if it means having the hard talks, they do it, and they support family, no matter what. That’s a big part of why this series has been so good from the start, and this brother is no exception.
So not fair! Thus far, Caleb was my favorite brother in this series but now Tucker Colburn is giving him a run for his money! What a kind, sweet, scrappy brother and friend. These three brothers put up with a LOT growing up. Tucker, though, is still taking care of his siblings, including his sister, but that’s not all that is on his plate. Enter his old neighbor, his friend, his former everything – Hazel Pierce. She comes back to town and has her own life issues to deal with, including seeing Tucker again.
Their story has some hilarious and some really heartbreaking parts but it was such a wild ride and wonderful story to read. I was firmly in the Tucker/Hazel Corner, however they made me work for it! There were also some really funny parts and some really deep issues that made me mumble at these two but I loved it. Some of the other characters (from the previous two books) make themselves known – and I use that term loosely! – and make Tucker and Hazel crazy. Mostly they mean well but dang, folks can be interfering. Mostly in a good way, though. And funny, too! There is much depth to this book, along with much banter and snark and loving relationships with a few shooting stars…I highly recommend Falling Into You and the other stories! @JillShalvis
I really enjoyed Falling into You by Jill Shalvis. Hazel Pierce coming back to Star Falls with a strict “no feelings allowed” plan was never going to go smoothly, especially with Tucker Colburn right there in her path. Their history gives everything this layered tension that feels real, and I loved how their interactions bounce between frustration, familiarity, and something that clearly never went away. Also, the way Tucker shows up for her, even when she’s doing her best to keep him at arm’s length, definitely had me smiling.
What I loved most is that classic Jill Shalvis small-town charm mixed with emotional depth. Hazel’s journey with her family, her past, and figuring out what she actually wants adds so much heart to the story. And Tucker is the kind of steady, patient hero that quietly wins you over. I’ve been hoping Kiera would get her own book, so I was really happy to see her featured more here and get a better sense of her character. The chemistry, the banter, and those softer moments all come together in a way that makes this such an easy, satisfying read. It’s a great addition to your book collection. Happy Reading...enjoy!
In some ways, this is what I expected - Jill Shalvis’ lighthearted and sweet writing, the Colburn family who is overbearing but well-intentioned, and finally getting closure on the weird construction site mishaps we’ve seen in the last two books. It even had the sad Hazel backstory and the star crossed high school lovers now getting a second chance with all the yearning that I expected.
But ultimately, this book didn’t come together for me the way I had hoped. Yes I was glad to get Hazel and Tucker’s story. But between never understanding Hazel’s character (why was she so combative all the time? Why did her moods swing so quickly?) and the constant miscommunications and issues between Tucker and Hazel, I just never really got into the story nor them as a couple.
If you’ve read the previous two books, it’s worth a read to get closure. But if you are new to Shalvis, I think there are better books of her’s to read first.
Thanks to Jill Shalvis, Sourcebook Casa, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I knew there was a gut wrenching story behind the heated looks and misplaced hate between Tucker and Hazel, but this was more than anything I ever imagined. The history between these two was heartbreakingly beautiful. They were destined before the stars ever streaked across the sky.
Tucker is seriously my favorite Colburn. The way he is there for his family. He’s not only the fun uncle but the uncle who is always steadfast. The brother he shows up time and again he just needs to learn to show up for himself. Through his love for Hazel he finds ways to discover who he wants to be and what love is. He starts to heal just as he starts to help Hazel heal, but before anything can move forward they have some truths to share!
I think this was one of the most emotional books in this series and I am hoping their sister gets a book because omg I love her and I sooo need her HEA just as we’ve gotten the brothers!
I have really enjoyed the Colburn Brothers series; however, this book left me a little flat, which I am sure is just a me thing. I think the book was well written, with characters full of complexity and compassion. I have been a little wary about this book from the beginning. First, a second-chance romance trope is not usually a story I enjoy, and second, I never really liked Hazel. Her character completely flummoxes me; she is so abrasive, unnecessarily so, and everyone is just ok with it. With this said, I did enjoy the connection between Tucker and Hazel. It was so well drawn that I could almost overlook the overwhelming miscommunication between Tucker and Hazel. Almost, it was a lot of miscommunication. I am glad I read the book, as it rounded out the series and nicely bookended the brothers' stories. I know I will for sure read another book by this author again. Disclaimer: I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley for an honest review.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
I truly love Jill Shalvis and she’s an automatic buy for me, so I went into this one with high expectations.
Falling into You is a sweet second-chance romance with very likable characters, and there are definitely some charming moments along the way. That said, it felt a bit slower than I’m used to from her. It took a while for the story to really pick up, and I found myself wishing for a little more of the spark and energy her books usually have.
There were a few smiles and light laughs, but I missed those laugh-out-loud moments that normally make her books so memorable for me.
Overall, still an enjoyable read, just not my favorite from her. Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
First of all, I can't believe I somehow missed book #2 in this series. With that being said, it could be a standalone if you picked it up without knowing it was in a series.
This one is about Hazel and Tucker, who were best friends as kids until suddenly they were more and then Hazel left town very shortly after that. Ten years later, Hazel is back in town to help her dad, who had a heart attack. Tucker still lives next door to him. They still have chemistry. They have to work together as Hazel helps to run her dad's restoration business. They keep falling back into old habits!
As usual, Jill Shalvis writes fun small-town romance with the best side characters. I know Hank, Tucker's dad, did some terrible crap before his stroke, but I have gotten a kick out of seeing him through the series. I love a friends-to-lovers trope, too. Not too angsty, decent spice!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my thoughts.
Falling Into You continues Jill Shalvis’s series about the Colburn brothers. Tucker Colburn and Hazel Pierce once were joined at the hip helping each other survive childhood trauma and falling in love. Hazel though was one of those people who fled when things got tough. These two excel at many things except truly communication with each other. The attraction between them is still there but so is the hurt, disappointment and fear of commitment. Readers will love the pull me, push me interaction between these characters who need each other as much as they need air to breathe. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
The third book in the Colburn Brothers series and, whew, this one was more emotional than I was anticipating. Second chance romance and there was a lot to unpack about their lives the first time around.
Hazel and Tucker were childhood best friends and, even with a decade break, they knew each other so well. I also loved the side characters and getting updates from previous books.
Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this ARC I. Exchange for my honest review. Watch for Falling into You to come out July 14, 2026.
Book #3 in the series, this one is about Tucker and Hazel. Such a good read! If you've loved the other 2 books in the series!
Hazel has returned home to look after her father, who has had a heart attack. Hazel gets work with Colburn Restorations and tries to avoid Tucker Colburn. Tucker is a fireman, as well as his many other jobs, including living with his father. Sparks fly between Hazel and Tucker, just as they did when they were teenagers. Can they work out their problems or will Hazel leave for the job she's offered in Seattle. Pick this fun read up in July of 2026 to find out!
I really love Hazel and Tucker. How they started as friends as teenagers and what separated them and ultimately brought them back together was well written. There were several laugh out loud moments in the book that just had me rereading those parts because they were so funny. And I did love seeing more of the relationship between the siblings and their father Hank. Also seeing the relationship between Hazel and her father Bill. I know this said book 3 of 3, but I really really would love for Keira to get her own book or even a novella.
Tucker and Hazel's story was the perfect conclusion to the Colburn Brothers series from Jill Shalvis. This book explained the history and why Tucker and Hazel were circling each other once she came back to town to look after her dad, and why they were also perfect for each other. I enjoyed seeing the way Hazel interacted and was loved by all the supporting characters and the way their story came together!! (It could be read alone but reading all three gives you the depths and details of the characters and relationships.)
Hallmark needs to make a movie with this story. There is angst, laughter, loving, family and suspenseful action. Of the three brothers Tucker is my favorite. He has loved Hazel forever and wanted her to realize she was worthy of love. Hazel trys to right all the mishaps of the past while trying to figure out her place in the future. She is talented, humorous and confused. The banter between all the characters was fantastic. I laughed, smiled big and teared up throughout this story and highly recommend this emotionally romantic book.
Jill Shalvis never fails to deliver a fun and a complex read! This was no different. Tucker and Hazel had a lot of history, most good until it wasn’t. When Hazel returns to Star Falls, most things haven’t changed. Especially her relationships with family, friends, and foe, at least in her mind. While she’s trying to make things right for all of her wrongs of the past, her feelings for Tucker haven’t changed. Tucker has kept his feelings close to the vest to avoid being hurt. The road back to being best friends and lovers is a difficult and winding one, but it can be so worth it.
This ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a story of second chances, where both characters had to work through processing grief and making amends for past mistakes. Hazel & Tucker’s story was hinted at in the first two books in this series, and I’m happy to say their book did not disappoint. Steamy firefighter & strong independent female woodworker. Yes, please!
Falling Into You is the third book in Jill Shalvis’ Colburn Brothers series. This is Tucker’s and Hazel’s story and a nice closure to the three brothers’ stories. There are so many miscommunications and misunderstandings, secrets and old wounds from over a decade ago, but also forgiveness, second chances, and the love of family. It is an easy-to-read book with lots of fun, charming characters and a cute and quirky cat.
This is a great read, Jill Shalvis at her best. She had my emotions going in so many directions I was about to get whiplash. I was ready to shake some sense into Hazel, then I’d want to give her a hug. Tucker was always awesome. There were many different characters, all with their own charm. This was more emotional than I’m used to getting from Jill, but the wit and humor were still there. I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Hazel and Tucker grew up best friends, but when Hazel left Star Falls, they both ended up with a broken heart. Hazel is now back and trying to show the town she has changed but most of all not fall for Tucker again. Tucker is a caretaker, rescuer and still has feeling for Hazel, but he doesn’t want to let her in his heart again. I enjoyed Hazel and Tucker’s story and how they had to face the past to move forward.
The word perfect exists to describe something so amazing that no tweaking or changes are necessary (also more adjectives are unnecessary.) This book is perfect. The characters, the scenes, the pets, the dialogue, the ending are all perfect. I’m glad that word exists so I don’t spend hours searching for descriptive phrases that all point back to perfect. Every time I say this story is my favorite. Nothing has changed. This book is my favorite….because it is perfect.
5+ ⭐️ Jill Shalvis has written a deliciously delightful romance for Tucker & Hazel!!
Filled with laughter, sadness, angsty insecurities, wit, sarcasm and a love that just needs to simmer a little more.
Get the tissues ready as you go on this emotional, finally being able to breath again, journey with Tucker & Hazel as they finally figure out the love of a lifetime! ❤️🔥❤️
PS…I laughed so hard when they had the family foot spa day!!❤️😂❤️
In true Jill Shalvis fashion, she’s again given us a delightful story that is filled with angst, quirky characters, misunderstandings, secrets, baggage, plenty of chemistry, and above all, family connections, and love. This was the perfect wrap-up of the Colburn Brothers (and sister) trilogy, an emotional and engrossing story that made me laugh, made me cry, and kept me reading.
I loved the dialogue between Tucker & Hazel. She’s strong but doesn’t believe she’s worthy of anyone believing in her. Tucker is always there trying to save everyone including being a firefighter, literally saving people.
As usual there is a pet in the book & I loved the name of the cat.
There are so many good lines in the book that make me smile & laugh.
