Some love stories don’t stay buried, no matter how far you run.
Hazel Pierce has three goals for coming back to Star Falls: 1. Help her estranged dad. 2. Keep things strictly temporary. 3. Absolutely, under no circumstances, fall for Tucker Colburn again.
That plan dies a dramatic, soggy death when a rogue wasp sting sends Hazel swerving off the road and into the river—only to be hauled out, half-drowned and furious, by the Star Falls Fire Department’s finest. Unfortunately, “finest” is ex–best friend, ex–one-night mistake, and the man she’s been avoiding for a decade.
Tucker’s always had a way of getting into her head. And now between a family that thrives on gossip and a town that’s way too small for all this chemistry, Hazel’s running out of ways to avoid the truth. As sparks turn into late-night confessions and slow, toe-curling kisses, Hazel has to decide if she’s done running—from her past, from this town, and from the only man who’s ever made her feel like home. And Tucker has to prove that this time, he’s not just her safe place to crash—he’s her always.
Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.
If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.
She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.
When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.

This book hooked me right from the beginning. I absolutely loved the humor and chemistry between Tucker and Hazel. Honestly, Hazel's relationship with everyone in this book was really fun to read because she has so much personality to her.
I flew through this book so fast and it's gotten me excited for more books from Shalvis. This is the type of writing I love to read from her - something lighthearted, humorous and romantic. I hope that Shalvis will stick to this style of writing and this publisher as it reminds me of the first books I read and loved from her.
Hazel is far from what you’d expect. She’s been through it and then some, her dad is a bit of a thorn in a few sides, Tucker is the one she once had but lost, and the secrets are bound to come tumbling out eventually. But Hazel is also incredibly likable because she feels so undeserving. She is certain she doesn’t belong anywhere and that she’s always the last choice, if chosen at all. She’s still here, though. Still trying. And still wishing that people would see who she is and not the hurting girl she once was.
As for Tucker, he’s sort of looking for misery. He wants Hazel to pay for hurting him, but he’s forgetting that he hurt her, too. Communication is key and it’s almost his downfall here. But he catches a clue and has a bit of a come to Jesus talk, courtesy of the man who can’t really talk now, but it sets his head right. Now he had needs to make sure Hazel knows she’s always his first choice.
These brothers are sometimes overgrown children, but what men aren’t? Heck, what siblings aren’t? And they always have each other’s backs. Even if it means having the hard talks, they do it, and they support family, no matter what. That’s a big part of why this series has been so good from the start, and this brother is no exception.
In some ways, this is what I expected - Jill Shalvis’ lighthearted and sweet writing, the Colburn family who is overbearing but well-intentioned, and finally getting closure on the weird construction site mishaps we’ve seen in the last two books. It even had the sad Hazel backstory and the star crossed high school lovers now getting a second chance with all the yearning that I expected.
But ultimately, this book didn’t come together for me the way I had hoped. Yes I was glad to get Hazel and Tucker’s story. But between never understanding Hazel’s character (why was she so combative all the time? Why did her moods swing so quickly?) and the constant miscommunications and issues between Tucker and Hazel, I just never really got into the story nor them as a couple.
If you’ve read the previous two books, it’s worth a read to get closure. But if you are new to Shalvis, I think there are better books of her’s to read first.
Thanks to Jill Shalvis, Sourcebook Casa, and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I knew there was a gut wrenching story behind the heated looks and misplaced hate between Tucker and Hazel, but this was more than anything I ever imagined. The history between these two was heartbreakingly beautiful. They were destined before the stars ever streaked across the sky.
Tucker is seriously my favorite Colburn. The way he is there for his family. He’s not only the fun uncle but the uncle who is always steadfast. The brother he shows up time and again he just needs to learn to show up for himself. Through his love for Hazel he finds ways to discover who he wants to be and what love is. He starts to heal just as he starts to help Hazel heal, but before anything can move forward they have some truths to share!
I think this was one of the most emotional books in this series and I am hoping their sister gets a book because omg I love her and I sooo need her HEA just as we’ve gotten the brothers!

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
I truly love Jill Shalvis and she’s an automatic buy for me, so I went into this one with high expectations.
Falling into You is a sweet second-chance romance with very likable characters, and there are definitely some charming moments along the way. That said, it felt a bit slower than I’m used to from her. It took a while for the story to really pick up, and I found myself wishing for a little more of the spark and energy her books usually have.
There were a few smiles and light laughs, but I missed those laugh-out-loud moments that normally make her books so memorable for me.
Overall, still an enjoyable read, just not my favorite from her. Thank you to the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
Falling Into You continues Jill Shalvis’s series about the Colburn brothers. Tucker Colburn and Hazel Pierce once were joined at the hip helping each other survive childhood trauma and falling in love. Hazel though was one of those people who fled when things got tough. These two excel at many things except truly communication with each other. The attraction between them is still there but so is the hurt, disappointment and fear of commitment. Readers will love the pull me, push me interaction between these characters who need each other as much as they need air to breathe. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.
The third book in the Colburn Brothers series and, whew, this one was more emotional than I was anticipating. Second chance romance and there was a lot to unpack about their lives the first time around.
Hazel and Tucker were childhood best friends and, even with a decade break, they knew each other so well. I also loved the side characters and getting updates from previous books.
Thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this ARC I. Exchange for my honest review. Watch for Falling into You to come out July 14, 2026.
Book #3 in the series, this one is about Tucker and Hazel. Such a good read! If you've loved the other 2 books in the series!
Hazel has returned home to look after her father, who has had a heart attack. Hazel gets work with Colburn Restorations and tries to avoid Tucker Colburn. Tucker is a fireman, as well as his many other jobs, including living with his father. Sparks fly between Hazel and Tucker, just as they did when they were teenagers. Can they work out their problems or will Hazel leave for the job she's offered in Seattle. Pick this fun read up in July of 2026 to find out!
Thank you to NetGalley and Jill Shavis for the BEST ARC EVER.
Falling Into You by Jill Shalvis completely stole my heart. Hazel and Tucker’s second chance romance is full of heartbreak, healing, and a beautifully raw kind of love that lingers long after the last page.
It flips emotional expectations in the best way, giving us vulnerability, grief, and growth that feel deeply real. Even the miscommunication and third-act breakup—usually my least favorite tropes—felt natural and necessary here.
This story hurt, healed, and stayed with me… and honestly? I’m already ready to reread it.
I really love Hazel and Tucker. How they started as friends as teenagers and what separated them and ultimately brought them back together was well written. There were several laugh out loud moments in the book that just had me rereading those parts because they were so funny. And I did love seeing more of the relationship between the siblings and their father Hank. Also seeing the relationship between Hazel and her father Bill. I know this said book 3 of 3, but I really really would love for Keira to get her own book or even a novella.
This ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a story of second chances, where both characters had to work through processing grief and making amends for past mistakes. Hazel & Tucker’s story was hinted at in the first two books in this series, and I’m happy to say their book did not disappoint. Steamy firefighter & strong independent female woodworker. Yes, please!
Falling Into You is the third book in Jill Shalvis’ Colburn Brothers series. This is Tucker’s and Hazel’s story and a nice closure to the three brothers’ stories. There are so many miscommunications and misunderstandings, secrets and old wounds from over a decade ago, but also forgiveness, second chances, and the love of family. It is an easy-to-read book with lots of fun, charming characters and a cute and quirky cat.
This is a great read, Jill Shalvis at her best. She had my emotions going in so many directions I was about to get whiplash. I was ready to shake some sense into Hazel, then I’d want to give her a hug. Tucker was always awesome. There were many different characters, all with their own charm. This was more emotional than I’m used to getting from Jill, but the wit and humor were still there. I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
In true Jill Shalvis fashion, she’s again given us a delightful story that is filled with angst, quirky characters, misunderstandings, secrets, baggage, plenty of chemistry, and above all, family connections, and love. This was the perfect wrap-up of the Colburn Brothers (and sister) trilogy, an emotional and engrossing story that made me laugh, made me cry, and kept me reading.
I loved the dialogue between Tucker & Hazel. She’s strong but doesn’t believe she’s worthy of anyone believing in her. Tucker is always there trying to save everyone including being a firefighter, literally saving people.
As usual there is a pet in the book & I loved the name of the cat.
There are so many good lines in the book that make me smile & laugh.
