Hailey Holloway has a serious knack with running from her problems. At the first sign of trouble she can be found lacing up her Nikes and hitting the road. Dacea has been patient with her, but a man can only handle so much. He told her before that he would not chase after her again and is he nothing, if not a man of his word. Katherine is more than happy to pick at the wound that festers between them. If she picks enough, she just might make one or both of them bleed.
War is on the horizon. Together, they need to convince the leaders of Blue and Silver to join their crusade against the Council, but can they put their differences aside and stop fighting long enough to help those in the line of fire?
K.C. Stewart is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day-dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn’t until she began writing short stories that she made those fantasies a reality. She has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn’t taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherds and cats in central Pennsylvania.
You know that moment when you KNOW you are hooked on a novel, a series, and the characters and have found an author who seems to just get you and what you like? K.C. Stewart has done it, again! Book 3 in the Hailey Holloway series, Scorched has just solidified my love for this series and the talents of this author.
Our Hailey is still getting herself into deep emotional, physical and mental trouble. Her verbal filter is non-existent and she has finely tuned her ability to jump to conclusions, run from conflict and become a total wreck. She is her own worst enemy and that’s saying a lot when her real enemies are working hard at chipping away at the bond between her and Dak and succeeding quite nicely.
Dak is the king of his sept and ignoring his dragons, war is looming on the horizon between the different septs and lines are being drawn. Of course, somewhere in there Hailey is caught up in the fray. An unlikely ally arises as Silas would do anything for Hailey, which also means he can no longer try to kill Dak, or vice versa. Dark and evil on the outside, Silas is becoming a regular softie, even playing Cupid to Dak and Hailey. How much more can Dak take of Hailey’s running from him, mistrusting him, shutting him out? Is he at the end of the line for them? Has Hailey once again made a huge mistake? Love hurts and Hailey proves that she can be the master of her own pain, so why not fix the problem? With strong bonds of friendship, intriguing family connections revealed and one hot dragon who may or may not put up with her antics, Hailey is in a world of hurt.
Fabulous fantasy-check Outstanding characters-check Delightful dialogue-check Masterful storytelling-check…Yep, K.C. Stewart has done it, AGAIN! This author can create a world filled with everything but the kitchen sink! Get ready to love, laugh and even hurt a little, and the romantic frustration level? Gah! Can't wait for more!

Well we found out the big secret Silas had, and it seems to have worked out great for all concerned. I sure hope Hailey has learned to trust Dak, and stop running a the sight of trouble, concerning the heart. Katherine has finally gotten what she deserves. The council will hopefully (especially now) allow Dak, and Hailey to be mates. We will have to see in the next book, since as we know anything can happen.
I just love these characters, as I was coming to the end of this book, I started thinking I am going to miss them when the series is over. Only one more book left in the series from here. I look forward to seeing how things end, however am sad this series will be ending.
I have a feeling Silas is going to be in the next book a lot. He seems very curious about a particular woman from this book (just a feeling) I look forward to seeing if I am right.
Hailey is so quirky, I love it. One never knows what she might say or do, and she is dam funny. Her and Dak balance each other well. He can get dark, and serious. She keeps things lighter, and fun. He keeps her thinking, and tries to keep her safe. They do have fun together, when not fighting lol.
I really love this series, and highly recommend it.

“Scorch” is a great continuation of the love story of Dak and Hailey. It’s well-written, easy-to-read, and extremely fast-paced. I finished it in one sitting. I loved reading more of Dak and Hailey’s story. This book had so many ups and downs that I wasn’t sure how it would end. Would Dak and Hailey finally get their HEA?
The author did a wonderful job at pulling my heart strings. There were so many times that I wanted to sit down and cry for Dak and Hailey. The lack of communication and stubbornness of both Dak and Hailey had me wanting to throw my Kindle across the room. Ugh!!! They just needed to talk. I was very frustrated by Dak. He was way worse in his stubbornness than Hailey. I loved the ending. I can’t wait to see where there relationship takes them in future books.
I think I enjoyed this one more than the first 2 even after the agony and crap they go through you still get drawn in with need and wanting more. There were times were I wish I could just go up and slam their heads together. I hope there is more in this series I would love to read about seris finding his mate
Scorch is book 3 in the Hailey Holloway series. Hailey Holloway is a debut series for K.C. Stewart and I have to admit that I’m really impressed. She takes a most unusual, and frankly, unbelievable premises and makes it an entertainingly believable adventure. From the first day I started reading Spark I couldn’t wait to get to see how this love story between Dak , the handsome, alpha, dragon shape shifter and Hailey the mere human was going to play out.
There are still so many things that I like about this book but there is one thing that just rubs me the wrong way. Starting with everything that I like.
What I Like: The beginning. This books starts with a game of hide and seek through Dak’s house. It was fun to read and feel the love between Hailey and Dacea. This isn’t an explicit love scene but the reader feels the love and excitement between this couple.
The author presents a realistic look into a fantasy world that mixes with the real life world we know. As I read scenes I can close my eyes and picture the world that they are living in.
I love the characters—I have since the beginning. They aren’t your typical romance characters by any means but they are characters that grab your heart strings or, in the case of Katherine and some of the council members, they make me want to spit and throw a punch.
Hailey’s strength. I love the way she stood up to people. She confronted people with more strength and sometimes magic to defend what/whom she loves. She takes on her enemies head on without fear. Hailey and Katherine’s showdown is the best. I love everything about it. It was a real high-five moment for me and Hailey.
Silas became one of my favorite characters. I love watching him deal with people and his struggle to accept that he has a heart and his long developed sadistic nature. He is funny, sad and damaged and surprisingly loveable. He is one of the characters that I root for a lot.
What I didn’t like: Honestly I felt a little cheated. Here I went on this journey for two and a half books with Dak and Hailey and loving every minute of it. They were fun, action packed and captivating adventures. Scorched continued that adventure for a time. There were still a lot of great scenes, especially the one with Hailey and Katherine but Hailey’s running got old. Add to that Dak became stubborn about their relationship. I get Hailey’s reasons for running but my goodness after a point enough is enough. The “I want him. No I don’t want him.” Then the “I want her. No I don’t want her” had me skimming over parts on some of the middle chapters. It was frustrating and felt like filler for a short time.
I like angst in a book and there was that here and it was good angst that makes the reader feel for the characters. I love that but I don’t like repetition of bad behavior that doesn’t move the story. And Hailey and Dak’s stubbornness had me thinking….Really? Is this how they are going to work things out? For goodness sake Hailey shows no fear taking on strangers but Dak, her love, she can’t have a decent heart to heart with. It doesn’t fly for me.
Let me wrap by saying the good far outweigh the bad. What I didn’t like is only a slight annoyance and, my guess, it probably won’t bother most readers the way it does me. I don’t know how many book are going to be in this series. This might be the last one. Goodreads shows another and I’m praying that is right. The author’s note at the end of Scorch talks about a new series. If this is the last book the ending is satisfying and gives me what I need. I hope there is another though because I would love to read more about Hailey and Dak.
Ok, I already love this series, but I am seriously getting hooked. I loved the world this author has created. And the ending, I just need you to know that I seriously cheered out loud and got totally excited. I finally feel justified. LOL And I can't believe I love Silas this much. LOL And I thought I would be all about Dak, and I do think he is good for Hailey, but I think I am switching teams, because I have a feeling Silas is going to be awesome in the next book. But enough, let's actually talk serious.
So at the end of the last book, I'm about to spoil a little if you haven't read books one and two, so maybe skip this paragraph, starting NOW... Dacea and Hailey announced to the dragon council that he was alive and she was his mate. AND they brought Silas as backup, which I never thought I would see. And when the council wanted to be stupid, because of Katherine, they decided to go rogue and basically almost start a war. Now they are seeing the fall out. Dak is trying to get any and every dragon on his side, to overthrow the council because of their bad decisions. I agree with him thinking the council needs to upgrade, BUT he needs to get his life and priorities in order. I wanted to kill him most of this book. He ignored Hailey, ALOT... I mean she freaking put the ring on in the damn first few paragraphs and he was too damn stupid to notice. Then he's been hiding Katherine's bull, and lies again to meet her. Except Hailey finds out about his lies and she's pissed. Except instead of apologizing to Hailey, he tells her it's over, done, and she needs to go away. Now Hailey does over react, and should have maybe just thrown the ring in his face and screamed at his lying ass, but I must say, I take her side a little more than his in this one. Take your head out of your @$% and maybe she wouldn't always run away from you. LOL
Now, with the spoilery part done, Silas takes the lead in this book. I am so excited because I knew he wasn't just a mean bag of rocks in a meat suit LOL He takes care of Hailey. He even helps Dak, who doesn't deserve it. He even keeps himself from killing others LOL that seems like a crazy statement right LOL. He's gunna play matchmaker for Hailey and Dak, because he knows they belong together, no matter how crazy the two of them are being. And he gets my hero award of the book!! And then, on top of that, we get to meet some awesome new characters, Like Casper, who is my new favorite dragon!! I hope I get to see him more!!
I know I am normally not one to talk about spoilings and actual things that happen, BUT I needed to get that out. LOL Hailey and Dak had me stressed out in this one. And things are getting darker and a little more fatal, so things need to get back into line. :) I loved this one. I seriously cannot wait to see where the author is going to take us from here, especially since Hailey now has her eggs in the basket, I hope she puts her foot down and makes Dak get his eggs together LOL :) 5 DRAGON PAWS!!!!

Hailey and Dacea or “Dak” as Hailey refers to him as are in a very happy place. They are so in love and Hailey is seriously considering taking the ring that Dak gave her and wearing it and doing the ceremony to make their mating official. However Katherine is still in love with Dacea too and would like nothing more than to do whatever she can to make sure Hailey is no longer in the picture. She sends Dacea letters and emails all the time to tell him she is still in love, which Dak of course doesn’t let Hailey see for fear of Hailey freaking out, doing something rash, and getting hurt. He agrees to meet up with Katherine one day to finally tell her enough is enough and to stop harassing him and leave them all alone. On top of all that Dacea and Silas are rogue and are trying to get Blue and Silver leaders on their side so a huge war doesn’t break out between all the dragons. Hailey comes across the letters and emails and finds out about Dak and Katherine’s meeting, and not sure why they need to meet for one: Dak didn’t tell her about the letters or the meeting and two: what they would have to meet up for because of how their meeting from book 2 ended, she decides to follow them so see what they are going to talk about. After seeing them being civil to one another at a café Hailey freaks out and runs away to Silas’s place to stay for a while. Dak loves Hailey but can’t keep up with her constantly running away just because she’s hurt so he decides that enough is enough and breaks up with her. However even though they are broken up, they are still trying to convince Blue and Silver that they are still mates and still together and it makes for some awkward and jealous moments for them. I loved this book and I love this series. I was genuinely shocked and saddened by the break up. I was mad at both of their stubbornness and wanted them to get back together right away. But the story was still very well written and I was completely hooked on it from beginning to end.

After finding out that Dak has been keeping secrets and lying to her about something very important, Hailey decides to sneak and see what he's up to. After finding him where he shouldn't be, she hightails it to Silas' without giving him a chance to explain. And you know that Katherine is totally using their spat to her advantage at trying to win Dak back. All of this comes on the cusp of a war between the dragon clans. If they want to win this, they need to show a united front. How can they do that if they can't even be around each other without wanting to rip into the other? When dragons start dying, it's time to step up to the plate. Too much is at stake, but can they get along well enough to end the war and unite the dragons? Will they be able to repair their relationship, or will their stubborn pride end things once and for all? You're going to have to read it to find out!
I just LOVE this whole series. Scorch certainly lived up to it's expectations. There's a strong storyline full of twists and turns, and with plenty of action to keep your attention. So much emotion was poured into the pages. I laughed and also wept with the characters. There were certainly some times that I wanted to reach into the book and knock some sense into the characters' stubborn heads. I think Dak may be one of the most hard headed men I've ever encountered, real or fictional. There were also some tender moments that touched my heart. I love seeing a softer side to Silas. My heart just aches for Darby. Oh the feels!!! I just couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this fabulous series!
This is the third book in the Hailey Holloway series. You must read the previous two, Spark and Singe, first. This is a continuation.
I have liked Dak since Spark, but he really ticked me off in this book. He is too damn stubborn for his own good. I understand that he is under a lot of stress because of Katherine, the council, and hte coming war. But he was still a jerk.
We see Hailey basically hit her rock bottom in this book. Thank God for her big brother Silas. And thankfully, Hailey gets her head on straight and goes after what she wants. She is stronger by the end and proved herself.
Silas has been completely redeemed, to me. I love him! He is a great big brother to Hailey, even though this is all new to him. I really hope that he finds his mate. Hopefully in the next book. I have a feeling that he has already found her though. They just haven't actually met yet and once they do, I bet it is going to be a killer first meeting (you'll understand that sentence more once you read the book!)
I really enjoy this series and hope that there will be more. I love Hailey's personality and the things she says. This book had me laughing at what comes out of her mouth, just like in the previous two books.
This is a good series. Scorch is book 3. I recommend starting with book 1, Spark.
This story continues where book 2 left off. Dak and Hailey seem to be hitting a rough patch. Hailey keeps on running from problems, and Dak is fed up. There is a storm brewing, and decisions need to be made. Ex's are causing havoc and making a mess.
There is a lot going on in the book. The story moves pretty quickly and full of twists and turns. There are returning characters and a few new ones. I'm looking forward to starting book 4.
K.C. Really did a fantastic job with this book. I was an emotional wreck. Oh gosh it was one heck of an roller coaster ride and I loved every bit of it. I just read right through this book and did't want to put it down. It is definitely a book I would recommend to friends and family. I am really enjoying this series. The next book can't come out fast enough. I am looking forward to seeing what unfolds in the next book and how things play out. Things should most definitely get interesting for sure. I give this book five stars. It was great.

An enjoyable read & series that brings the unimaginable to life.
The one thing that kind of erked me was the back & forth between this duo. I wished that they were sure of each other opposed of how they toggled back & forth on how they felt about one another. I guess I'm just a romantic that way.
Only gave four stars because of what seemed to be a lot of misused words. They weren't misspelled, just the wrong word so the flow of the sentence is off since you have to read it again. For example, the word conscious is used instead of conscience. I really enjoyed the story line but would love a book where they weren't so stubborn. I like it when the characters finally get solidly together and then kick ass, like Jeanine Frosts, Kat and Bones,
While I am loving this series in General, this particular installment wasn't my favorite. I missed all the irreverent pop culture references. Both Hailey and Dak were big 'ole idiots in time around. I hope that going forward that they are together more than they are apart.
Hard headed and stubborn. Both words describe Dak and Hailey. With Katherine out for blood they must fight even harder for the life Fate has offered them. An addictive addition to the series!
Another awesome piece to the story had me crying and laughing then frustrated loved it I couldn't put it down looking forward to the next book definite a must read.
