Hi, I'm Haley Tyler, a dark romance author from Texas!

I’m the one behind the gritty Salvatore Brotherhood MC series and the dark paranormal romance Calling on the Reaper. My stories are filled with characters you love to hate and plots that twist and turn when you least expect it.

I’ve been telling stories my whole life, but I officially became a published author in 2021 with my debut novel, Killing Calm (book 1 in the SBMC series!). Since then, I’ve been living and breathing my dark, twisted worlds.

When I’m not writing, you can catch me listening to Taylor Swift or heavy metal (because there’s no in-between), binge-watching the latest TV series, or diving into a good romance novel.

If you’re looking for your next dark romance obsession, you’ve found it. Welcome to my world!

Wow! This was such a quick and fun read. I was worried that this book would not be well executed, due to it being incredibly short. This novella is about 50 pages long and was very well written, kept me intrigued from beginning to end, had a twist that I did not see coming and it felt like a real “true crime” story. While this book is completely fiction, the characters made it seem very real.

This book left me in shock! In my opinion, it is dark, creepy, scary, twisted and to the point. It has horror elements, erotica, has mystery vibes and is very disturbing. I recommend this book to anyone that likes reading true crime documentaries that are creepy and disturbing! I rate this a 4.5 out of 5 stars!

I am extremely thankful to Haley Tyler for providing me a complementary eARC in exchange for my honest review! From one Texas girl to another - You did GREAT on this!

- Right now, this book is free on Kindle Unlimited!

Room Four by Haley Tyler is a chilling, unsettling psychological horror novella about Lily, a woman drawn into the eerie world of the long-forgotten Sunny Pines Motel where women have vanished, and Aaron, the quiet, obsessive keeper of that place whose warped desire for his “perfect guest” pulls Lily deeper into a terrifying trap from which escape seems impossible. Told in a second person point of view, the story drops you directly into the motel’s shadows and paranoia, blurring the line between a road trip gone wrong and a nightmarish descent into obsession and danger.

Right away I felt this story’s raw, claustrophobic tension, as the narrative voice spoke to me in a way that both drew me forward and made my skin crawl; this choice of perspective is rare and powerful, making the motel’s silence feel personal and the sense of dread almost tactile. Tyler does not offer comfort or resolution here, and she warns clearly that this is not a romance and that no happy ending awaits, which set me bracing for the ride rather than hoping for ease. Lily’s curiosity about the motel and the stories of disappearing women felt eerily human: that tug between fear and the drive to know the truth.

Aaron’s chilling fixation, rendered through unsettling narrational closeness, made this feel like a psychological labyrinth I could not look away from even when it made me nervous. The pacing is brisk due to its short length, but the atmosphere lingers; every creak, every shadowed corner in Room Four felt charged with menace. I would give Room Four 3 out of 5 stars, because its haunting mood, daring POV, and audacious, eerie storytelling made me feel both thrilled and profoundly uneasy in all the right ways.

“No one sought Sunny Pines Motel out. But you did.”

This is a short erotic horror; it is not dark romance, so if you are seeking a love story, this is not for you. Now with that out of the way, this was so freaking good. I was literally hooked from the first page. This is the first book I’ve read by Haley Tyler, and I devoured it. Literally cannot wait to read another.

It’s written in second-person, which I don’t read much, but y’all, that made it even creepier and more personal. I love Bates Motel, and this seems to be loosely inspired by that concept (I could be wrong… we’ve established I’m a little delusional sometimes so whatever, it’s fine).

I wish there was more to this story, so dear Haley, I am begging you to do more with this. You owe me nothing. This was enough, but my twisted little mind just wants more because I’d love to know about Aaron and Lily’s backgrounds.

“You wanted to get lost on a dark winding road and pull into the first motel you saw for the night, then tomorrow, do it all again. You longed for quiet and beauty in a too-loud world.”

This book was a wild ride that could have easily went way past the 94 pages that it is! I was immediately enthralled and couldn't keep my eyes off of it until it was finished! This book really took the serial killer role to a whole new level. Yes, there are some books that have used some of the same tropes, but I don't think it hit the same as this book.

I loved that there was some retribution along with a bit of torture along the way! The psychological manipulation was something that was well planned, and executed many times before. Seeing how it's played out between characters was definitely a highlight. But nothing will ever overshadow the Roadside Motel setting. Out in the middle of nowhere will always trump other settings. And let's not forget the other little things sprinkled throughout the book, like little quirks that make it that much creepier, even if you wouldn't think so if you were the one in the story!

I really enjoyed this book and I'm super excited to see what other unhinged project Haley has for us!

“Every step you took was mine. Every breath, mine. Every flick of your eyes…mine.“

Holy SHIT this was truly one of my fav freaked out addicting erotic horror reads EVER so add it to your TBR rn OR ELSE !!!

Kidding… mostly…
But fr I read this novella in one sitting. Straight through. Didn’t even blink either. This shit was so good. Fucked up but SOOOOOO good.

Shes short and sweet but the characters aren’t and that’s what makes it SO good. Plus it’s written in second person and has a wild twist ending so I cannot recommend enough if you want a quick wild read to get into the dark spooky mood. Mwuahaha

Wow, just wow, no words. The twists and turns especially at the end of the book, dang. I didn't see it coming at all. I definitely enjoyed reading this short story though I do have questions about both Lily and Aaron like what happened like more of the childhoods of both of them, before this story took place, etc.

Quick read and horrifyingly awesome. If you love dark and twisted reads, then this is for you. I loved the edge of my seat feel as I turned the pages off this creepy short book. There was nothing cheesy about this motel scenario. It’s so well written and gripping. Genuinely loved this one.

What an interesting novelette! There were mystery and crime elements that had me guessing what would happen next. This was also written in second person POV, which was unique and quickly pulled me into the story. The plot was well thought out —more than I expected, and the ending was a nice twist.

Room Four | Haley Tyler
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Tags: Horror Erotica, Dub-Con, Short and Sweet, Second Person POV

Thank you for this ARC I enjoyed getting a sneak peak before release day!

Room Four is a fast-paced, super short novella. This is not your everyday love story; this isn't your yearning but spicy dark romance, and you won't find this book recommended on BookTok, but you should definitely give it a try! I took this book with me to read during downtime while I ran errands and I devoured it in almost one sitting. There is no love between the MMC and FMC, only pure carnality, and Tyler delivers on the warning she gives at the beginning of the book.

The Sunny Pines Motel is the kind of place you go when you want to be away from the world. It's for people who want to hide and probably have no one looking for them in their absence. It's the place people who won't be missed go, and if you're lucky enough to be placed in Room Four, you'll learn just how special you are to the owner. The second-person POV really puts you, the reader, into the passenger seat and brings you along for the ride.

The short length does this book a lot of favors. I don't think this would have read the same way if it had been turned into a longer novel with twists and turns. It set out to tell a short story, it told that story, and it sends the reader on their merry way. It's quick, dirty fun to scratch that itch if you have a few minutes to kill.

I almost gave this 5 stars but there were a few points that I felt could have been fleshed out a little more. I know the point was for it to be a short book, but there were a few instances (the NSFW descriptions / scenes mostly!) that I felt like I wasn't having the full picture painted for me with words. The scenes around the climax are verbose and well-worded, but the actual peak fell a little short for me in terms of storytelling. I have a good imagination, I got the picture, but I would have liked to see a bit more attention to detail where it counted.

All around a good book! 4 stars for me means I highly recommend it (5 stars means it was damn near perfect and very rarely does a book earn that) so if you're looking for something fun that you can finish in one sitting, pick this book up and have a blast!

Okay this one was truly AMAZING!! I just know I will never stop thinking about it because of the end of this book! My jaw was literally on the floor and I went back and reread it again to make sure I was reading it right!! This one from the moment I started until I finished I did not put it down. I just needed to know what was going to happen. These characters are 100% unhinged and you really got to expect the unexpected. It’s so dark but JUST SO GOOD!! I really I highly recommend grabbing this one ASAP!!

Room 4 is a chilling, compact descent into the mind of a killer — and the woman who dares to step into his world. Told primarily through the unsettling lens of Aaron, a motel owner with a sinister past, this short horror-smut hybrid doesn’t hold back. The Sunny Pines Motel is more than just a forgotten roadside stop; it’s a shrine to obsession, control, and the macabre.

Tyler’s choice of narration adds a disturbing intimacy to the experience. You’re not just reading Aaron’s story — you’re being spoken to, watched, pulled into his twisted perspective. But as the story unfolds, the narrative shifts in unexpected ways, offering a fresh and haunting angle that deepens the tension.

With only eight chapters, the book packs in a lot: psychological unease, graphic content, and a final twist that genuinely caught me off guard. It’s not for the faint-hearted — themes of murder and non-consent are front and centre, so readers should approach with caution.

Despite its brevity, Room 4 is intense and atmospheric, and Tyler’s writing kept me hooked from start to finish. This was my first read from her, but it won’t be my last.

I received a free ARC copy of this book but leave this review voluntarily

“Hiding my true nature was fracturing me, and it was painful. I know you’d never want me to be in pain, so you have to understand why I did what I did to all those women. I didn’t have a choice.
I was just being true to who I was.
And that was what everyone always said to do, wasn’t it? Be true and you’ll be happy?
You want me to be happy…don’t you?”

Now THIS was an adventure!!

This was told in 2nd POV, meaning the k!ller spoke to you…his new target. It was a refreshing POV style to read and I loved getting to see inside the head MMC. Don’t be fooled though, the FMC is not as meek as she may seem. To top it all off, that ending was a pretty cool twist!

As a sworn HEA obsessed reader, I was nervous going into this but I loved it! If er0tic h0rr0r is your style, you’re definitely going to want to check this out.

Friendly reminder: Room Four is written in 2nd POV. It is NOT a romance. There is NO HEA. Please visit the author’s website for a full content list of what to expect.

I went in expecting dark romance… I didn’t expect to lose sleep over it.
Room Four is haunting, addictive, and filled with morally gray characters who make terrible decisions you can’t stop rooting for. Haley Tyler builds tension like a slow burn through gasoline — the setting itself feels alive, every scene dripping with danger and desire.
The motel becomes its own character, secrets seeping through the walls until you’re just as trapped as the people inside. The twists hit hard, the emotions hit harder, and the chemistry? Unhinged perfection.
If you love romance with sharp edges, characters that blur the line between love and ruin, and atmosphere that crawls under your skin — you need this one.

Genre: smutty true crime, horror novella

Room Four is a quick true crime horror novella with smut: a writer who wants a night of reclusion and peace ends up in a motel ran by an attractive man. It’s written in the 2nd person, so that attractive man, in truth a serial k1ll3r, is narrating the story talking to you. The reader (you are the writer). Naturally, it breaks the fourth wall and makes for an inclusive experience. It was a fun take. It deals with themes that might not be for everyone, so check the trigger warnings. What I loved the most was the plot twist at the end.

Thanks to Haley Tyler for the arc! It was different and quick.

Perfect for Halloween 🎃🎃🎃

Our mmc is Aaron, and he has a little problem. He can't help it but spy and do other not so great things to his guests that stay at Sunny Pines Hotel. Our fmc is Lily. She is a journalist and has caught the eye of Aaron. Aaron can't help but fall into obsession with Lily and stops at nothing to have her. The thing is, not all is as it seems....

I really loved this novella, and I am so excited for you all to read it 😊

Thank you so much, Haley, and your amazing team for the opportunity to read this story and to be a part of your ARC team. It means so much to me 🙏

have you ever wondered what it’s like inside the mind of a killer?

haley tyler did a fantastic job of putting us into the mind of her killer, aaron, and with this book being in 2nd person, it’s as if he is talking to/about the reader and it felt even more eerie and sadistic.

i absolutely loved being in the perspective of our other character lily. it made it feel even more like i was there in the moment, wondering what was going to happen even though it was being narrated to me.

within the walls of sunny pines motel, you get checked into room four hoping for a night away, a night to be alone. little do you know, nobody ever checks out of room four.

Erotic horror • Serial unaliver • Dub/noncon • Voyeurism

“There was this darkness inside me that demanded to be acknowledged and obeyed. I was helpless to do anything but give it what it wanted. And what it wanted was you.”

Listen, this short story is 52 pages and if you like the tropes, it’s a MUST. I’m in awe of how Haley created such an interesting, straightforward, psychological mind bender. You know what’s coming, or do you, and you can’t look away. I ate this up and would love to see more from a certain character.

Room Four is a short and not so sweet novella about a woman checking into a motel alone, unknowingly handing herself over to a serial killer. The POV is from the killer’s perspective and it’s so interesting to hear his thought process and intrigue for the FMC.
This novella will definitely have you gobbling it up in one sitting, if you’re looking for a short and twisted Halloween read with a surprising twist, this one’s for you!

This is a short erotic horror novella with plenty of darkness- check triggers before reading.

I loved this story - simple, straightforward, but so captivating. It had me turning pages, hooked. The twists and turns throughout were chilling and the 2nd-person POV pulls you in completely.

The spice was even spicy.....which is so disturbing and left me wondering what's wrong with me. And the ending was so unexpected. Love!

I went into this knowing absolutely nothing. One of my besties got it for me and said, "I think you'll enjoy this", and let me tell you, she wasn't wrong.

First, I absolutely loved the way the story is written and how it makes the reader feel like they're part of the story. And that twist at the end... I saw part of it coming, but the other part completely blew my mind. Absolutely brilliant.

Room Four by Haley Tyler

This creepy little novella crawled under my skin in the best way.

The atmosphere? Haunting. The pacing? Tight. The ending? Chilling in the just right way. It’s the kind of story that feels like an urban legend, you’re not sure if it’s fiction or warning.

It’s short, sharp, and unsettling.
Check it out if you want a quick hit of dread.

This was a really delightful and quick read. It’s definitely not a traditional romance but maybe a delusional romance?? It’s a great book for those looking to get an intro into erotic horror. It doesn’t include the gore that some does, but it offers some twists and surprises that leave you pleasantly satisfied with the ending. Oh, and the 2nd person POV was perfect for this novella!

I loved this!

It was a quick read - an easy 50 pages. It had been hooked from the start and I was able to read it fairly quickly. I loved the setting, the characters and most of all that twist at the end!! It was amazing. Plus, it was written in second person, which added another layer of suspense to the already thrilling story.

Okay… wow…
Room Four by Haley Tyler far surpassed any and all expectations I had.

This tiny novella is pure curiosity and dread. Shallow breaths. Sudden gasps.
And then that ending… 😳

Maybe it’s because I was out of town—staying in a hotel, no less—but Room Four crawled right under my skin.

I’m telling you… I will never look at another hotel or motel the same way again 👀

WOW!! This was a fantastic erotic horror novella. It was so fast paced and had a huge twist at the end. Aaron was definitely a messed up person and I would love to know the backstory of why. Lily was really going to find out what happened to those missing girls, she wasn't going to give up on them. There we so many twists and turns I didn't see coming in such a short story, it was so good!
