This book presents a broad review and analysis of the field of leadership. Its application however, is not limited to business organizations. The processes of leading others to achieve organizational goals are applicable in any institutional setting.
Great book with tens of frameworks and methodologies for effective leadership, community development and understanding, coaching and mentoring strategies, etc
If you can get past the typos, misspelled words (including the name of the US President - repeatedly), and misplaced hyphens, this book is still just okay. Maybe I just hate business books because it seems like all they do is repeat the same concepts over and over again in different flowery language making my brain swell with absolute boredom. I was over it after Chapter 1, and I still can't believe I was able to get to the very last page. I think i need a drink now.
Required reading. Poorly edited (including typos and in the powerpoint slides provided). Wordy and dense, this textbook was hard to enjoy reading even though it is a topic of interest to me. I found the quizzes to be equivalent of horoscopes or buzzfeed quizzes.
I would exceptionally give this book 5 starts. This is because I rarely read in leadership, so I am so picky on this. The book is built on the studies made in the field, and wrote in a simple scientific style. It's a must read for business leaders.
This was required reading for a class. Even though I purchased the seventh edition, it is still riddled with typos. The included tables and charts do little to enhance the text which is dense and frequently redundant. Definitely not something I would choose to read independently.
I read this book as a reference for a project and was shocked by the number of errors. e.g. stating that South Africa is a Middle Eastern country!! Also, the book is clearly biased and the author seems to know nothing more than the stereotypes of each country.
