THE BRUTAL AND VIOLENT LIFE OF LOGAN! WOLVERINE. A.K.A. LOGAN's long and violent history is showcased in brand-new tales by top tier talent in brutal black, white and red! Tom Waltz and Alex Lins reveal Logan's never-before-revealed military service during the 1950s - with a secret connection to a fan-favorite Marvel character! A mission in seedy 1970s Times Square puts Logan on the trail of a deranged serial killer, as told by Saladin Ahmed and Adam Kubert. Survival is the name of the game after Logan escapes from Weapon X - by Larry Hama and Dave Wachter.
Saladin Ahmed was born in Detroit and raised in a working-class, Arab American enclave in Dearborn, MI.
His short stories have been nominated for the Nebula and Campbell awards, and have appeared in Year's Best Fantasy and numerous other magazines, anthologies, and podcasts, as well as being translated into five foreign languages. He is represented by Jennifer Jackson of the Donald Maass Literary Agency. THRONE OF THE CRESCENT MOON is his first novel.
Saladin lives near Detroit with his wife and twin children.
Three taut, stand alone stories that encapsulate the best of what makes Wolverine so popular.
I have to add: As one who finds the constant story jumping from title to title (rather than through consecutive issues of ONE title) in modern comics infuriating and unreadable, I really appreciated the tightly paced brevity of the stories and most especially their emphasis on “stand alone.” I hope the success of this style will be the precursor of more emphasis on craft than speed at Marvel- you don’t need an endless litany of massive crossover events when you have an ongoing series of great three act stories.
Actual rating: 4.2 stars What I liked: I enjoyed the commitment to the blood! Also each story was perfect and left me wanting more! Art & Coloring: Perfect amount of bright red in the panels to show the carnage left by Wolverine. Writing: Each of the stories were really good and I enjoyed how they focused only on Logan and his adventures. I do wish the stories were longer though. What I didn't like: No complaints other than wishing the length was longer. Final thoughts: When does issue #2 come out? Continuing?: Yes
Goddamn I love Wolverine. This is so fantastic, three stories, all of them fall into my favorite genre of Wolverine story, “Logan goes berserk and kills some guy(s)” The use of red is so fucking fantastic here, Marvel is getting really good at these Black White & Red books. I think it’s awesome that they’re doing another Wolverine one, this time it’s called Logan instead of Wolverine, I ain’t mad at that. Will definitely be reading the next issue too. My favorite of these three stories was Larry Hama’s “Red Claws” probably my favorite feral Logan story that I’ve ever read.
Short stories of Logan, in a dark and gruesome manner. First story is Logan in Korea sniping russians in the 50’s and exposing himself as the Wolverine. Second is in NYC in the 70’s at a bar and how he adapts to his surroundings, and third is him shortly after Weapon X and being out in the wild with the wolves. Very dark and bloody and definitely awesome art here. Loved this issue seeing Wolverine before the X-Men.

Man, this was brutal. Really encapsulated Logan's dark and violent world. They didn't hold back with this. This is going to be a fun and bloody series. Can't wait!
This was exactly what I expected. It was bloody. Great action. Logan being Logan. What I didn't expect was Naked Logan fighting hunters.... Hot. lol haha
