Overall, this was a well-written, enjoyable story. It certainly is a compelling concept. It has a few small plot holes, though, which were significant and, for me, detracted from the story. It makes little sense, for instance, to have characters talking about purifying the world of chemical contamination which (in their own words) includes fluoride...with fluorine. This is, perhaps, a minor thing, but it's so integral to the story that it appeared multiple times. And (spoiler alert) they identified a suspect in part because of a relationship with a given victim which would have given him access to her information -- only to tell us that he didn't choose the victim. Someone else (who likely has no relationship with the victim at all) gave him all of the information. That connection therefore become irrelevant, and it becomes highly improbable that someone with that particular connection should have been involved. I otherwise enjoyed the story and which it didn't have these moments that jarred me out of the willing suspension of disbelief.

This was book 2 in the Miles Sterling series. I thought book 1 was good. This book was beyond. I never expected what happened and that is what is going to drive the rest of this series. This series doesn’t have 100+ books in it to go through all the elements so I’m excited to see how it all goes down.

I am glad they brought Vic back into so she could partner up with Miles. I like them as a team and how they work through the cases together.

Can’t wait to read book 3!

ps. Just know that there are a couple of typos in this book and in book 1 which is very unlike the author. Not sure if she has a new editor or proofreader but there were times the mistakes pulled me out of the story.

An interesting storyline, and a likable character, but Miles seems to be unable to put his fiance over his obsession. While his obsession turns out to eventually catch a killer, it has dire consequences for his up coming marriage.

I am a fan of Blake Pierce, but took off a star for a couple holes in the storyline, but mostly because of a lot of typos that weren't caught. I don't remember ever finding even one in any of the other books I've read.

This wasn't exactly a "heart stopper" as advertised and the whole concept of "purifying the world" didn't make much sense. If the villains eliminated everyone who was damaging the world, there wouldn't be anything left of most things in the world, such as transportation. Miles should have possibly anticipated what the bad guy would do to him personally and his fiancee should have been aware of what to do when the time came.

Nail biting page turner

Excellently written murder mystery. This was my first Blake Pierce book, so now I’ll be looking for others in a genre that I don’t always seek out!

I found the characters in the story quite believable, with fast paced dialogue and interesting storyline’s all throughout the book.

Recommended.

Only made it 35% of the way through the audio book. Couldn't handle anymore. The angst and dialogue about Miles' relationship with his fiance was rote and repetitive. She came across as whiny and slightly selfish. Plus it felt like every chapter ended with virtually the same language and theme. Couldn't handle the repetition any more.

A great series

Miles is a different story off character than your usual FBI agent and this hold the stories together.
Good plot, well written with few spelling mistakes. All other characters seem real.
I really do enjoy this series and author.

Intensely good

Determining who or what is causing very frightening deaths becomes life's mission for this analyst. Fast paved and extremely terrifying at times.
