Steel hearts and clan secrets

Highlander of Steel by Eloise Madigan is a captivating Scottish romance that blends tension, passion, and the haunting weight of past trauma. When Ailis is kidnapped by Laird Killian as leverage for his brother’s release, she’s thrust into a world of uncertainty. Killian’s unexpected decision to marry her—an attempt to forge peace between warring clans—sets the stage for a fragile alliance. But the illusion of harmony shatters when a gruesome wedding gift arrives: a severed finger and a lock of hair. Was it truly sent by her brother?

This gripping tale explores the power of love to confront nightmares and heal old wounds. Ailis and Killian’s journey is steeped in danger, emotional reckoning, and the slow unraveling of trust. A compelling read for those who enjoy romance laced with suspense and psychological depth.
Highly recommended.

Another Fabulous Read!

Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down. I was sucked into this story as soon as I read the Prequel. My heart went out to Killian with the death of his father. Then I met Ailis… man what evilness her life has been. This book is filled with love joy laughter tears adventure sadness and finally peace and healing. This author has such a gift with words and I’m so lucky to enjoy reading them. I can’t get enough. Once you start reading,I know you will also not be able to put it down until you finish. I’m not sure if this series will continue as a crossover of the characters we’ve met in this book but I hope there is a further story for Murdock and Kristen. If you’re new to this author or just contemplating reading her books, I recommend jumping in with both feet. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Aileen and her sister Mollie are thrown out of the castle of the man she was betrothed to when her brother caused a battle to happen and he killed a bunch of people. One of the people killed was the brother of the Laird that finds them in the woods with just the clothes on their backs. Gerald in taking them back to his castle when members of the clan that killed his brother want him to give the two to them so they can do away with them permanently. He says no that Aileen is his betrothed and he is taking them home. This is the story of how they learn about each other and find that there really is love in their lives even when their is war around them.

great story!

I loved this book. It was a change from the forced marriage start of a lot of these themed Scottish books. I also liked that it had a larger body type for a woman that was loved. There was the typical clan fighting and misery for women. It makes me wonder if that was really how it was for the majority of women back then. Such a hard life it was.
I actually read book 2 first but it did explain some questions I had from that. I loved that one too.
Killian I adored 🥰, Ailis was someone you rooted for.

Killian

Enjoyable read with a bit of a different storyline. Killian becomes the Laird at the death of his father inheriting a feud as well. Shawn the opposing Laird has captured his brother and in an attempt to rescue Frazier he finds himself capturing the Lairds daughter instead. Ailis is the game changer, destiny or not what happens next changes the destiny of their clans. Highly recommend this book

They clan the Ainsley’s, kidnapped ,Fraser, Killian brother, right after they killed his father. So a few days later Killian went in the castle to retrieve his brother. When he couldn’t find Fraser, he found Ailis, so he kidnapped her. This is a great story, please read!

Love story for the ages

I loved how patient and steady his love was, even before she learned to trust him. What I did not like was that there was/is an issue with the extended story about the couple, which leaves a cliff hanger regarding their future married life. The extended read has an issue connecting to the extended story website. Very disappointing. That's the reason I only gave 3 stars not because of the story itself.

A True Love Story

As we all know rarely would a relationship take place without a few bumps in the road. This love story had some big bumps to overcome. A war between two families, family secrets, pain but then there is love. Love conquers all. What a great read! I read it in a day. This was first in the series and the first read for me by this author. I love the way she writes. I look forward to book 2 and other books she’s written.

This is an amazing story that I just couldn't put down. She was raised so cruelly that she had a hard time believing someone could be nice to her. She thought he was just trying to end a war, but he really wanted her from their first meeting. There are some real twists to this story that you won't believe!

Never wanted this story to end!

Outstanding tale to get lost in. Eloise writes so you are in the midst of the story. Killian is a winner! What a plot to follow. Surprises abound. You have to fall in love with these characters as clan feuds are solved, family tortuous history is unraveled. Worth another read!

Intensely Good!

A very good story that is both intensely enchanting as well as intensely disturbing. All of the characters--both the good and the evil--are clearly drawn and engaging. Killian is of particular interest with his great strength yet gentleness. A good read indeed!

Killian and Ailis

War isn’t something that anyone should want to contend with, but it happened. What will become of them? Will they figure out a way to stop the war of two clans. Read this wonderful book and you will discover what truly started everything in the beginning.
