I'll grant that this seems like a ridiculous premise, but I have teared up multiple times reading PvP. I discovered this book completely by accident after nearly knocking over these dudes' table at Long Beach Comic-Con last year and it has been the most delightful bit of serendipity. This comic is great. Action, emotions, great art. Plus, it makes me question my allegiance to penguins as a species, which is saying a lot. I recommend this hard.

I think I would have liked this better if it had a little more world-building. At times it was hard to tell whether it was supposed to be more humorous or serious. There's kind of a high body count for humor, but the basic premise is awfully hard to take seriously. Also, there kept being hints that this story was crossing over with another one, but where? For instance, the back cover illustration implies a lot of things that are not in this volume.
The other reason why world-building would be nice is that penguins and possums just don't overlap their ecological niches very easily, so the source of the original conflict would have been nice to know. Also, how a penguin flipper can pull the trigger on a gun...
Still, it was a weirdly fun read.

I picked this up at SVCC last year because I'm me and the series involves penguins. I was very pleasantly surprised how good it actually is. The comic is beautifully drawn in black and white and the main characters are uniquely defined though at points tropey but it's a comic book so that's bound to happen at some point.

I know this title sounds a bit crazy but it's a lot of fun. Umm that's if you find violent action fun. Like the title suggests Penguins and Possums have been mortal enemies for years. The story opens with a vicious attack by some possums in the penguin exhibit at a local zoo. The retaliation by the penguins turns one possum into a fiery warrior thought to be the chosen one.

The penguin ruler isn't doing too well in his kingdom either, his father has been killed and his throne taken in a coup. However with unexpected help from some government rebels the penguins may finally win this impossible battle. The art is rough black and white and very atmospheric for the tone of the book. A really interesting start to a series i will keep following.

Interesting premise. Liked the art for the most part, but the dialogue was disappointing.
