Whirlwind: Seattle Blades, Book 4

Rate this book
Data. Numbers. Facts. That’s what I know.

I’m not great with relationships or men. I don’t even date. My entire sexual experience can be reduced to three nights of trauma.

Imagine my surprise when one of hockey’s best players with the worst reputation takes interest in geeky old me.

Tyson Murphy isn’t what I need in my life. He’s hung up on his ex-girlfriend and runs through women like he runs down opponents on the ice. The last thing he needs is a woman who is terrified of intimacy.

The last thing I want is to be is just another puck in his net.

We’re oil and water. Order and chaos. Logic and emotion. We shouldn’t mix. So why won’t he stop pursuing me? And why do I suddenly crave the one thing I’ve avoided my whole adult life?

Love.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and it was such an emotional read. This is my first book by Alison Rhymes and it definitely won't be my last. Even though this book is a standalone within a series it does have a lot of characters from the previous installments, as well as the story being very much connected to the previous ones. That being said, I have not read the previous books and I never felt lost or like I had no idea what was going on. The backstory was easy to understand and it had me immersed in no time. The level of emotional and character development in this story was completely unexpected. The way Tyson treated Kit, how he was there for her at her own pace and on her terms was so refreshing. The way being neurodivergent was portrayed in this story was beautifully executed. Tyson was loving and sweet every step of the way and Kit's ability to explore herself and Tyson was done flawlessly. The narration by Robin Blake and Mollie Stark was exceptional. They did an amazing job bringing this story to life with the perfect emotional connection to the characters. Definitely a great story, great characters, great narration.

• THOUGHTS:
This was my first Alison Rhymes book, and it will not be my last. I fell in love with these characters and their story! Kit is such a captivating character! I was in love with her character within the first few sentences of chapter 1. Tyson was more complicated with this being my first book from the author and having no history of the characters . I still emerse into the story and still felt heartache and pain for both MC. I loved Tyson's fierce protectiveness and also hisnpatients, Kit, and her willingness and curiosity. They both fit so well for one another. I did not realize how much I was hooked into this storyline. I had completely devoured it in under a day! The writing and the characters, I enjoyed this book very much!

Narrator Thoughts:
•Narrators: Mollie Stark and Robin Blake
•Dual Narration. 1.7x
I love Mollie!! Done. End of Subject! Every book i have ever heard her in is just as amazing as the last. Her voice and the emotions she pulls into the characters. I just love her! Robin Blake is new to me and I very much enjoyed his performance. I think Mollie amd Robin were a great pairing. I enjoyed his voice and I am going to be seeking out more books he does. I loved the audio! Both Narrators were fantastic! Definitely recommend the audiobook.

This book and its audiobook production both deserve lots of stars. The audiobook was narrated by Mollie Stark and Robin Blake, who drew my attention right into the emotional center of the characters and didn't let go. It felt almost as real as experiencing the book's events myself. Ms. Rhymes has written a complicated, engaging emotional journey for Kit and Tyson that had me cheering them on yet uncertain if they would make it. Definitely the best kind of reading, right? Kit is such a wonderful character: though she has little experience or confidence concerning relationships, she is incredibly smart, observant, and able to back up the way she feels with facts (which was amazing and fun). Tyson is still recovering from a messy breakup when he meets Kit. Both of them have lots of baggage, and Ms. Rhymes leads them through the drama jungle to an HEA, making sure there is emotional growth on both sides. Both Kit and Tyson are involved in the Seattle Blades organization (data analyst and player, respectively), so there are plenty of hockey team found family connections to enjoy - all the chirping, the nicknames, the fighting and the caring are here as well. And Kit has an adorable dog named Nightmare! I feel lucky to have run across this book and met a new favorite author!

I was given an ALC and volunteered to write a review.
