Faye wanted nothing more than to live her life just the way it was. Creating art in her flat and traveling around Europe. She was happy but always wanted something more. The only problem? She was too scared of letting anyone in and opening herself up after a childhood of pain.
Then after one night of passion everything changed.
From the first night Silas knew that Faye was his future. He had his family, friends, and the career of his dreams. He was content with the life that he lived but when she walked in it was like the piece he never realized was missing clicked into place.
Now he’s determined to keep the promise he made even when she’s hell-bent in fighting it.
I was so excited for the next couple in this series. It was full of sweet moments and definitely lots of spicy ones. And the found family aspect, perfection.
Silas was a playboy and not ready to settle down. He was living his life, but when he met Faye, that all changed. He hadn’t been with anyone else since her and couldn’t stop thinking about her. The way this man did a complete 180 over her, it was amazing! Faye was across the world from her best friend and a guy who is trying to win her heart. She also has a horrible relationship with her parents. So when her bestie offered her a business deal of a lifetime and to come stay with her, she couldn’t turn it down.
Silas was a complete golden retriever and obsessed over Faye. He was head over heels for her and was just waiting for her to catch ups he kept telling her she was going to be his wife one day. I loved the way Faye got all possessive and “mine” when other women tried to hit on Silas, it was the cutest. Silas and the security he offered was exactly what she needed, she just had to realize that he was there and she could trust him. I loved these two together!!
I liked Silas and Faye a lot! I love how obsessed and adoring he is with her, and I thought their dynamic was really cute overall. There was also a background plot line happening that (I won't say what, so I don't spoil anything) that I thought was really interesting! However, I had a really hard time getting into this and connecting with the characters, especially towards the beginning of the book. Throughout the book, there were also quite a few instances where we're being told things rather than shown them. For instance, they start off long-distance at the beginning of the book, and they are texting and talking on the phone a lot, but you don't see a lot of those conversations you just get their inner dialogue about how they've had these great conversations and they are connecting so much. That made it really hard for me personally to feel much chemistry or connection between them. Overall, I liked parts of this and would still recommend it if it's sounds good to you, I just wasn't as connected with the characters as I would have liked.
(I received an advance reader copy for free, and these are my honest thoughts)
I definitely enjoyed this read. Lots of very very cute moments between Silas and Faye. I feel like he was exactly who she needed. Amber wrote the love story between a soul who is broken and another who wants nothing more than to heal the broken beautifully. If you enjoy a little spicy sweet read this is a perfect series to read. Alter Anthem is book one, definitely read first before this one as they are interconnected standalone.
This was an ARC read and is Book #2 (Book 1 is Alter Anthem… it was a great book!) This story although it had some past/present traumas, was really just a sweet story. Truly it was a feel good romance novel. Again, yes there was som struggles the MCs had to work through, a majority of this was very uplifting. The way the MCs felt about each other, in particular the MMC made sure there was no miscommunication, there was no “playing games”, it was strictly love from the jump. Now, some may not like this story to the “lack” of intense conflict or maybe action/crime. But if you want a sweet romance with spice and a great ending, you absolutely need to read this!
