The Romance Review
M/M lovers having children stories are a specific niche which not everyone reads. Fortunately, this is one I'm always on the look out for, so when I find one, I gleefully grab it. BREEDING SETH is best read after reading the first book in the series. Full disclosure, I didn't read the first book so the second one seemed as if I missed a few things.

Evan Zenas and Seth Trivos are lovers united through trials. They don't have the best view of aliens who have come to Earth. Still, the two of them are not going to let a little alien invasion stop them from having a life. When that life is threatened due to an illness Seth can't seem to shake, Evan starts to take control.

This story is short, sweet and hilarious. My assumption is the world building is in the first book in this series. There isn't much in this one. It's fine because those who are used to the Space Opera genre will be able to quickly pick up what is going on. The characters are adorable and almost too sweet on each other. I kept expecting Evan to call Seth his "hunny bunny".

The twist in this story is out there for most readers. For those who are into mpreg genre, this is a relatively mild one and it doesn't stretch the imagination too far. Not quite realistic enough to consider it speculative, yet still wild enough to bemuse a reader. This m/m romance is recommended for those who have a sense of humour.

Evan Zenas and Seth Trivos relationship has blossomed into something wonderful and their life is just beginning. Cooper Hanes met Doctor Micha Levi and instantly found "his one" in the charming, seductive doctor. But as these four men settle into life and love, odd things begin to happen, health issues arise, and everything they thought they knew changes in an instant when aliens, male pregnancy, and romance get thrown into the mix. With Seth having experienced his own encounter, abduction, experimentation and consequences, he might be the only man able to help Cooper when his time comes, too.

I really enjoyed the first book in Miss Holbrand's Agency series, The Encounter, so I gladly took the chance to review the following two as well. I actually went into Breeding Seth and Cooper's Condition with a bit of hesitance, knowing the subject was a little out there. Male Pregnancy? How would that work, could it work, and wait ... what?

I'm glad I gave them a chance. I like M/M, I also like Sci-Fi, and I was willing to try the malepreg aspect and it was enjoyable to read. Suspending belief, of course. I don't mind short stories, and I think the author fits in her plot well for the length. Like in The Encounter, both Breeding Seth and Cooper's Condition have hot scenes and the men are incredibly sexy (barring the pregnancies, of course, haha). I loved how the stories went from present tense to memories of how they led up to the current point.

All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed both. They were quick, hot reads with some funny, serious, sad, and loving moments. I'm interested in seeing where this goes from here.

This is a quick read series set in an alternative reality of science fiction where paranormal activities and alien abductions are real. These can be read back to back

In The Encounter we first meet Evan, or Zen as he prefers, who is an agent for The Agency whose job is to investigate paranormal activity. Zen is one of the toughest agents around and he really is like an old bear when it comes to new recruits. Think 'Dirty Harry' in a scifi setting. LOL. He's also closed his heart out to love. But when Seth shows up, a man from Zen's past, he has to work real hard to break down the walls Zen has built around him. Their chemistry sizzled throughout and I was glad there was a follow on book with more of them.

In Breeding Seth, we meet Seth and Zen again as we follow up on their relationship. They are now a loving couple but for the past three months, Seth has been undergoing some physical changes. Zen is very worried that his lover is very ill. So they've gone to see a doctor. The doctor gives then a very unexpected news. Seth is pregnant. This raises so many questions especially how is it possible for him to be pregnant? They can't think of how it would've happened until Seth recalls their camping trip three months ago and a weird dream he'd had. It turns out he was abducted by clown-bunny aliens. That bit was kind of freaky and funny. LOL. A good thing from their camping trip was the outdoor sexy scene between these two. Another steamy one.

In Cooper's Condition we get to meet Cooper Hanes who is struggling with his own alien abduction. His partner Micha is becoming very obsessive and possessive since the event and Cooper needs someone to talk to. He attend an Alien Abduction Support Group meeting where he meets Seth. He is glad he's met other people who have similar experiences and understand him. But he's there behind his partner's back and he is worried. He get's to talk one to oen with Seth and explain how he met his partner and what subsequently happened. Micha and Cooper had been having a great relationship for about a year until the abduction happened. Seth ends up being a good friend to Cooper when he need help. It turns out Cooper is pregnant from the alien experiment. Now Micha has to work in earning back his trust.

Evan and Seth are settling into a more comfortable space with their relationship after a rocky start. But Seth has been sick, easily agitated and moody as of late. To say they are shocked to learn Seth is pregnant is an understatement, now to just figure out exactly how this happened. A memory of what Seth thought was a dream brings the truth behind his pregnancy rushing back, right before he goes into labor.

I have to say I really enjoy the slightly twilight zone aspect to this series. Alien abductions, M-preg, things that go bump in the night. And this story was more cohesive than the first giving the reader a nauseating glimpse into Seth’s abduction and how he came to be with child. Very disturbing that the alien’s are described, in my mind at least, as the rabbit in Donnie Darco.

The descriptives in this story are vivid and as a said, disturbing, but the way Holbrand has tied everything together with the first story was intriguing. While I have some issues with M-preg, it is explained in a way that is marginally believable, in an X-files sort of way. Evan and Seth’s reaction and quick acceptance was a little unrealistic as well, even in this far fetched reality.

This was still just an okay read for me as was the first installment, but the flow of the story was more cohesive and the writing wasn’t all over the place. I am intrigued to see how this all comes together and where Evan and Seth will land when it’s all said and done. So I’ll be grabbing a copy of book 3 when it comes out.

Again, this is a short story which I would've wished to be longer as I still think there's more to these characters than what's been seen. But, again, I enjoyed this, particularly since the mpreg made itself known.

The fact that the pregnancy is due to Seth now being abducted by the same aliens did give me a little eye roll. But, since I wasn't into this for a Tolstoy-like novel....more like dime store candy....I went with the plot.

The birthing part was just as entertaining as they always are for me in mpreg. Seth and Zen were cute and naming the baby Star just made me think of the 80's series 'V'....oh well, funny and entertaining isn't a bad thing for a story.

An intriguing story about a couple who find out one of them is pregnant after a camping trip but neither can explain why until Seth remembers a weird dream he had. This is a very quick read and works perfectly while you're waiting for an appointment.

Bad. Really didn't like this is all. I didn't like the story or the characters or the writing. And, frankly, the easter bunny aliens freaked me the hell out.
