I’m at a restaurant with my fake billionaire boyfriend when my ex walks in.

He starts making a scene in front of everyone, yelling that I’ll never find anyone better than him.

Suddenly, a hand grabs his shoulder, and he turns to find a massive man standing behind him.

My fake boyfriend doesn't flinch. Instead, he lifts a hand and calmly says, “Get rid of him for me, Frank.”

Frank nods once, grabs my ex by the back of his jacket, and drags him out of the restaurant like dead weight.

Then my fake boyfriend glances back at me, completely unfazed, and says,

“Now… where were we?”

A Very Grown Up Love Story

It’s an interesting read, Alora is a successful businesswoman at the stage of making a name for herself in her job. She’s quiet, confident but also reserved. She doesn’t have a boyfriend or a private life to speak of and that’s exactly what she wants right now. What she gets is a business proposition.

Owen Blackwood is a very wealthy man, he’s developed a reputation as a playboy billionaire. Tricky when he’s trying to cultivate a major business deal, one that comes with a board of directors who are old school. The solution, a fake fiancée to give the image of stability. Three months in public, just another business deal. Until her, seeing her navigate his world effortlessly that was a welcome bonus, what wasn’t was her very unwelcome and unwanted ex.

This story follows Alora and Owen, who began in an arranged relationship. Alora Carter agreed to be Owen Blackwood’s fake girlfriend to help him appear more stable during a merger. Owen, a millionaire raised mostly on his own after being sent to boarding school by his parents, was taught independence but never learned that healthy dependency can be a good thing when there’s mutual respect and no control. The story also features Jason, Alora’s abusive and controlling ex, from whom she escaped. Although she had a restraining order against him, he tracked her down after two or three years once it expired. He believed he could still control her, but by then she had found someone who truly cared for her and was falling in love with her and, helping her rebuild her confidence. I’ve enjoyed Eden Lux’s books, especially this series—it was a light, enjoyable read.

Good read

The plot was great. Short but to the point. The only complaint I had was the continuous affirmations about not controlling, a real partnership etc. yes she suffered abusive control but there was so much about it that it is the main focus of the 170 pages. I just think it was a bit much.

This is my fav of her books so far!

A sweet, lovely and gentle romance is a perfect way to read! No ow drama, no angsty egocentric main man... just two ordinary people getting to know each other and falling in love!
