Faith of the Forsaken Witch: Broken Magic Book 2

Rate this book
Lord Aldric Kelly is alpha in a long line of alphas who have ruled over Silvershade, the magnificent Keep and forest his werewolf pack calls home, for generations. He takes great pride in his pack and their accomplishments.

But he is lonely. Long looking for love, he’s all but given up.

Until one night instinct leads him to her.

Gwen is on the run. For years, she and her best friend North have fled from the dark magic of Desmond, a sorcerer who wants Gwen for her magic. She is a witch, blessed by earth and wind, and though she has no inner beast, her father passed his werewolf magic to her as well.

She is powerful. She is beautiful. With a single glance, Aldric realizes she is his.

His mate. His everything.

But Gwen is hesitant. Desmond has great power and the threat of him harming Silvershade is high. He also has strong allies, not the least of which is Scarlet, the fire witch hot on Gwen and North’s trail.

There are many reasons to leave Silvershade safe and sound.

There are also many reasons to stay. For so long alone, with only each other, Gwen and North have finally found a pack where they could make friends, and potentially, find family.

As threat of never-ending night approaches, Gwen must decide if her faith is greater than her fear.
Because it is not only Silvershade at risk, but all of Neigera, and even beyond . . .

Melody Warden is an avid reader and a writer of all things romance. She loves a good alpha male—or a morally gray one—and anything with wings. She believes every love story deserves a happily-ever-after. She spends her days with her children, drinking too much coffee and chasing her dogs, and her evenings are devoted to writing. When her nose isn’t stuck in a book, she enjoys gardening and playing games with her family. You can find her on social media, where she’s just as awkward as she is in real life.

Faith of the Forsaken Witch is that book. The book you pick up thinking “I’ll just read a chapter” and suddenly it’s 2AM and you’re emotionally compromised with no regrets. This is book two of a series that can also be read as a standalone.

Tropes:
Found family
Forbidden magic
Slow burn
Destined connection
Good v Evil

Melody Warren really said “What if I took every trope you love and made it hurt just a little?”

Our FMC is a witch who deserves the world but has been dealt the absolute worst hand. She’s powerful, lonely, misunderstood… basically the blueprint for every millennial who’s ever said “it’s fine, I’m fine” while not being fine. Watching her reclaim her strength and identity was Incredible. And the chemistry between her and our MMC is perfect. Even the side characters feel fully realized and add so much humor, heart, and grounding to the chaos.

Magic, betrayal, found family vibes, ancient forces that need therapy, and a journey that hits you right in the feels. Every chapter adds something. Every twist lands. The worldbuilding is rich without being overwhelming, you’re just effortlessly pulled in and suddenly you live there now.

By the final chapters I was invested in ways I wasn’t emotionally prepared for. The ending was perfect, leaving you wondering what is to come!!!

If you want a fantasy that has magic, heartache, healing, and characters you will think about at random times during the day like they’re real people, I would recommend this book to you.

Thank you to the author for the chance to read her book as a free ARC. I leave this review voluntarily.

I've been anxiously awaiting Gwen and Aldric's story and it did not disappoint! Much like book one, I devoured this one in two days because I didn't want to put it down! It was so magical and (thankfully) not as traumatizing as book one! That one put me through the ringer emotionally! Gwen did manage to break my heart as an FMC a few times because I really felt her pain at being unwelcome in the pack. The author wrote her suffering so well, it's hard not to identify with it! But then the author fixed it all with Aldric and his devotion so it was all good! I loved them together, and their story was so well-written. I need to know more about what's going on this world though! It's so richly developed and unique. This book and this series definitely deserves a spot on your TBR!

Outstanding sequel!

I have been looking forward to book two in this Broken Magic series and it more than delivered! The world building is something to be truly admired. I could see and feel every part of this world as if I was actually there. The pull and connection between Gwen and Aldric had the perfect amount of sweet and spicy mixed with a tenderness that sometimes brought a tear to my eye. I loved the overlap between this second instalment and its predecessor and I really can't wait for more from this author. This is rapidly becoming one of my favourite series and I highly recommend this to any lovers of fantasy romance and romantasy. Excited for the next one!

I loved this book. The main characters (actually all of them!) are engaging and believable. I enjoyed seeing more of this world Melody has created, and how the story interlinks to the first book. Seeing the ending from the first book, in this one but from the other perspective was a lovely ending. Can't wait to read the next one!

I enjoyed this book and all the different characters. I liked that there was a little bit of everything, wolves, cats, bears, vampires and elves. I really appreciated Gwen’s connection to nature. Over all a good read.
