ONE YEAR… OR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. Butch Peace has done more than just write a fascinating book —he has created a portal through which the reader passes and enters the turbulent world of young helicopter pilots flying into war every day for a year. Fueled by youth, technology and a fervor to uphold whatever courage and skill was needed to protect one another, these 20-year-olds passed through that portal in real-life and carry the reader along on their awe-inspiring year in Vietnam. Butch Peace is a gifted observer of the human condition, especially as it plays out under duress, folly and war. With the wry humor and grim appraisal of a man who lived through absurdity and purpose, he has written an insightful and moving account of a world many have heard of, but few have seen. An amazing book.

Well written and not overtold account. The author saw the ugliness of a war directed by too many folks that had one goal; get themselves promoted. Too bad that he didn't stay in touch with his crew.
Realistic rendering of a year in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. The story takes you through the complete year from beginning to end and allows the reader to experience and the emotional drama.
