Meet Silas: an ordinary man whose world spirals into darkness the moment he lays eyes on Rosalie. Her radiant smile, that infectious laugh, and carefree spirit ignite a burning fixation within him. What begins as innocent admiration quickly morphs into a twisted obsession. One where he lurks silently in the shadows of her life, convinced that their connection is fate.
When Silas kidnaps Rosalie to shield her from a world he believes threatens to tear them apart, a complex relationship takes shape within their hidden refuge. Fear gives way to understanding, and love begins to bloom in the unlikeliest of places. Rosalie, initially terrified, starts to see glimpses of Silas’s desire to love and be loved; no matter how dark the path may be.
As they navigate a maze of fear, passion, and obsession, their story challenges the very meaning of love, blurring the lines between devotion and danger.
Dark, seductive, and utterly unpredictable; this is a story where love knows no bounds, even if that love is deep rooted from obsession.

Holy Stockholm Syndrome. This dark romance novella was a TIME. Silas and Rosie are our MC's, and we meet them as they work together as baristas. To put it mildly, Silas was OBSESSED with a capital everything. So much so, that he resorts to kidnapping her. From there, Silas felt really manipulative and honestly came off kind of insane. Rosalie 100% deserved better than that. I'd also have to say that the characters also came off kind of childish, which made it harder to get into. While I did really enjoy the beginning of this story, this was one of the rare cases where I got the ick, and it's so hard to come back from that. The story of Rum & Roses was good in premise; however, with the way it was executed, this novella wasn't for me in the end. And that's totally okay!
Just because I didn't enjoy it, doesn't mean that it doesn't have the potential to be your next 5-star read! As always, remember to check out the book yourself and form your own opinions!<3
This was a super quick read. I would have been done sooner had I not started to catch up on ARCs but I decided today was the day. The storyline was totally understandable, it was easy to follow, and it definitely left me wanting more. Love love LOVE Rosalie and Silas, and I can't wait for you all to meet them! Thank you, Ashley, for letting me Beta read this for you!
If you've been wanting to dip your toes into dark romance, this is the pertect place to start!
Rosalie and Silas work together as baristas. She has horrible luck with love.. and she doesn't know that a lot of that is because of Silas. He will do anything to protect her from anyone and everyone, even go as far as to off anyone that does her wrong / touches her. He has a funny way of trying to protect what he loves most.
Silas completely stole the show for me. He may have a possessive, dangerous edge, but underneath it all he's surprisingly thoughtful and caring. The small things he does for Rosalie like remembering her preferences and looking after her in his own (over the top) way made it impossible not to fall for him. I mean yes he kidnapped her and kept her in his basement... but he put her own personal ballet studio down there for her to practice! He's the perfect mix of intimidating and sweet. Alongside Rosalie's sweet and gentle personality, they were the pertect couple.
Their opposites attract chemistry was one of my favorite parts of the story, and the kidnapping trope added just the right amount of tension and excitement. I loved every second of this novella!
This was a good read.. before you read, please check your trigger warnings and protect your mental health if this is too much..
holy Stockholm syndrome!! Silas is one obsessively murderous guy! He loves Rosalie but can’t stand anyone talking to her so he kidnaps her while she was under the influence …
Thank you Ashley for the opportunity to arc read this for you!
A biker and ballerina?! I truly couldn't imagine anything more dreamlike and perfect in a dark romance. Ohh, and this cover is absolutely gorgeous.
I loved Silas from the very beginning, he was everything I ever imagined in a book boyfriend and so much more. He was wholeheartedly obsessed with Rosalie and I loved that more than I could express. He knew everything about her and he did anything to make her happy. I never knew a cinnamon roll stalker could exist, but here we are and he was brilliant! Have I forgot to mention that he is also tattooed, pierced & plays violin?! It's like he stepped out of my best dreams I never want to wake up from! I was blushing while reading his thoughts on Rosie and when he brushed her hair and took care of her when she got sick? I completely melted. I love him so much!
To all dark romance lovers out there, please don't hesitate to pick up this novella to find your next obsession. ♡
Here’s the thing, if I am going to have someone so in love with me and wanting to protect me, I would want Silas to be that man. The way he set up the entire basement to be to her liking with an entire ballet set up?! Yep, a freaking keeper. And he goes to get her teddy bear? Ugh, YES!!!
Listen. I know this is Stockholm Syndrome at its finest. But since when are we dark romance girlies trippin on this?! He’s got the bike, the muscles, the tattoos, and the obsession 👏🏼 sweet covers don’t have to mean sweet insides 😘
This was such a fun, quick read and perfect for an intro into dark romance! Or for the girlies who need a short novella read (~145 kindle pages) and want some spice, some chaos, and of course, some “if you look at her you’ll literally die” vibes. My only hang up would be that I wanted MORE!
I really enjoyed this little dark romance novella This is a great palette cleanser/ beginner dark romance book. It’s not too dark but enough to make it thrilling. Every dark romance reader atleast thinks about it once, “what if I was kidnapped but he was hot??” Or something along the lines, don’t even lie to yourself! This novella is a fun play on that little fantasy I also think it’s such a fun contrast of dark and light between the 2 main characters, a tatted bad guy and a blonde ballerina.
Thank you to R&R Book Tours and Ashley J. Vinson for the gifted copy of this book! Don’t let this gorgeous cover fool you, Rum and Roses is more than ballet and strawberries! This is a tale for all my book girlies who are ready for a “touch her and d!e” (literally) boy to whisk them away. It’s fast paced and straight to the point. Silas falls fast, first, and hard but Rosalie eats up the attention and affection and falls right with him. This is sweet and exhibits caretaking but also all the spice 🔥 this would be a great intro into dark romance - the suspense is nice and light and the opposites attract trope are well done. Check the trigger warnings to protect your mental health. I can’t wait to read more from Ashley!
Rum and Roses is a dark stalker romance novella, with a touch of BDSM and murder 👀 If you like cinnamon roll MMCs who have that “touch her and 💀” vibe, you’ll love Silas. I actually really love his backstory. One of my favorite quotes is his…
“Please choose me; no one ever chooses me.”
Silas believes he must take Rosalie to protect her. And that he does. And soon Rosalie begins to fall for him too… “Home was wherever Silas was.”
This short dark romance was a great palette cleanser. I do wish there was more build up to Rosalie falling for Silas. The plot was great I just wanted a little more from them I guess.
Thank you Ashley and R&R Booktours for my review copy 🫶🏼
Rosie and Silas are baristas together. But all bets are off when Silas first lays eyes on Rosie. He will do anything to protect her. Even ☠️ for her? His inner monologues are hilarious 😂 If you like novellas with dark romance. This is for you!
Favorite Quotes ✨“Don’t worry Rosie, I’ll keep you safe.” ✨“Am I crazy?” ✨”If this is a dream, I never want to wake up.”
This follows Silas whose obsessed with and loves his coworker Rosalie. He’s determined to have her, he’s even prepared a living space for her in his home. And when an opportunity rises, he takes it and Rosalie to his home.
This is a very light version of dark romance. It has those questionable choices, the taboo/questionable romance and relationship, but also it’s not as dark as some I’ve read before. It’s a great introduction to dark romance.
I enjoyed it for the most part. It was a quick and easy read for me. I wouldn’t say the romance was my favorite, which is the point, I mean is it healthy? No, but they seem to love each other and he did treat her very well and took care of her. They are both people who dealt with trauma and so connected in a way that others would most likely not understand.
There are some parts that I felt I could have used more information, such as Rosalie’s best friend. They seemed really close, but it’s like she forgot about her best friend and we never hear anything else about her and I would have loved to know more about what she was doing to find her friend, but that also might have been the point that no one was truly looking for Rosalie.
It’s a decent read. The steam was done well, and it was written in a way that kept my attention and I wanted to know how this would end, good or bad. I enjoyed the bit of mystery and suspense included too with the questionable romance. 3.5-4 stars.
Thank you to the author for the e-ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely loved this little novella. It was an easy read between tasks, and despite the short length, you can’t help but fall in love with Rosie and Silas. This is perfect for people wanting to dip their toes into the water of dark romance and see what all the hype is about.
Silas has a particularly unhealthy obsession with Roselie. Stalker like obsession. The self doubt that Silas has is endearing and awkward and makes me love him even more. Even with thoughts of kidnapping her.
When he eventually kidnaps her, the love that blossoms in the basement is one that they were both desperate for and erupts in the most glorious way.
Does he kill a few people? Yes but he loves her unconditionally. Who doesn’t want a man who would kill for them?
The ending was sweet and just what the novella needed. I was given this arc for a review.

A dark romance, with an obsessed MMC and a soft hearted FMC. I need like 10 more of these right now! I petition Ashley to make a whole series of short dark romance books.
Silas was such an interesting character, he came from a rich background yet didn’t depend on that, instead he chose to work at a coffee shop to be near Rosalie. I loved his dirty talk too, I was very surprised as one second they were all cute and cuddly and the next second Silas was turning DOM🥵
Rosalie is such a gentle soul, she always looked for the good in people, even men who ghosted her (although Silas takes fault in that😂) She sees the world differently and I feel like that’s what drew Silas to her, her calmness & love & values. And who wouldn’t fall in love with your kidnapper if all he wants to do is protect and provide for you!
If you’re looking for a fast pace dark romance with some light stalking, a bit of murder and a kidnapping that ends in love, this book is an immediate YES!
This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It's a fast paced book about obsession, wanting love, and doing anything for it.
Silas has been working with Rosalie for a bit now and the moment he saw her, he knew she was it for him. He did some unthinkable things for in the name of protecting her.
Rosalie is sweet and loves ballet and is having the worst luck with men. She enjoys working at the coffee shop but wants more.
When Silas decides it's time to enact his plans with Rosalie, he just hopes she'll understand.
Will Rosalie understand why Silas did what he did? Will they find love together? You need to read this to find out!
Rum and Roses was a fun, fast paced dark romance novella that I flew through. I loved the biker x ballerina dynamic, the Phantom of the Opera vibes, and the cinnamon roll kidnapper who somehow managed to be both stalker-ish and incredibly sweet at the same time.
The captor/captive storyline kept things interesting and I couldn’t help but laugh at how quickly she found herself falling for her kidnapper. The protective “touch her and die” energy, forced proximity and devotion from the MMC made this such an entertaining read.
If you enjoy dark romance with a possessive but caring hero, plenty of tension and a story you can finish in one sitting, definitely check this one out.
Rum and Roses is a great Fast past dark romance for those who want something quick and Dark to read! The vibes are immaculate, the characters are perfect and Ashley does a great job with the Aesthetic of the book 🖤🌹
The MMC is a stalker and a biker like ugh so hot 🖤 The FMC is a cute ballerina and a bit afloof but we love that for her 🌸 And the spice UGH THE SPICE I love it!!!! And we get Stockholm syndrome love love lovvveeeee
Definitely worth the read ❤️🖤🌹
!!!!MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS BECAUSE THIS IS A DARK ROMANCE!!!!
I was very lucky to have gotten an ARC by the lovely Ashley of this book and this is my honest review.
This Novella is a spicy dark romance, so read the trigger warnings before to make sure you're comfortable with everything.
Now, I love me some dark romance with spice and kidnapping? In real life, no absolutley not, in books?! Its so hot! Silas is also the cutest cinnaman roll of a biker MMC, like he does all these dark things but you just want to pet him? Yes he is that cute and also hot, the things he does in the bedroom... Major spice level.
Rosie is a cutie too, she is so soft and innocent. What was very good in this kidnapping story is that Rosie knows Silas before all this goes down, that way the unfolding love story makes much more sense. Especially considering this is a short Novella and not a 500 page book. Overall the relationship between them is the main character and I am here for it. They have many good and cute moments, and some not so cute ones, where I blushed... :))
Its a wonderful short Novella again by Ashley J Vinson and again my only complaint is, its too short. Give us more pages, more time, I just want MORE!! (because its so good!)
This was such a fun little novella. Has the perfect balance between light and dark, good for anyone just dipping their toes into dark romance, but obviously check the tw's first 'cause our man Silas, yeah, he's obsessed with Rosalie- like in an unhealthy sorta way but we love him for it! Once I started, I couldn't put it down 😍
Now, the main plot is their relationship and I fell in looove with how Silas & Rosalie are together. Yes, he k!dnaps her and keeps her in his basement out of love and is a bit murderous but I mean- he's hot sooo she doesn't mind, girl can get ittt 😅 She also loves praise & boyyy does Silas deliver. Constantly. 😍🙌
Rosalie reminds me of myself in a way, the way she's quiet, soft and super sweet. Loves her romantasy books and just wants to be loved.
Honestly this is the perfect book to read if you need something fast, or a palate cleanser. It had me giggling and blushing the whole time & the ending really made the story come together.
Thank you so much for the arc, this read was a blast! ❤️
It's not the darkest kind of dark romance, but I still recommend reading the trigger warning before going in!
Rosie and Silas work together as baristas and Silas is just purely obsessed with Rosie and needs to have her as his own. Hence why he feels the need to kidnap her. He's really thoughtful and caring with her, and the love that blooms between them is sweet, even in these circumstances.
I loved the opposites attracts part of the story, with Rosie being a cute blonde ballerina and Silas a tatted bad guy. They fit together despite all that.
I couldn't put the book down once I started to read it and then felt like it was over too quickly.
Great novella to start a journey into dark romance, that's for sure. Not I. My favorite parts had little to do with the romance side of this book. Silas was perfect. Rosalie was a great character, too. There were some things that could have been explored a little bit more. It felt like there was more details behind certain events that were mentioned and swept under the rug. The spice was good. The thrilling parts weren't lacking. This book did redeem itself a little in the end, hence the five stars.
This is a super quick, even for a novella read. I easily finished it in under 2 hours. It was the perfect quick hit dark romance when you just need a palette cleanser. With that said it almost felt like a cozy romance, minus all the murder, BDSM and bondage, because the MC's were so adorable together.
Due to the length everything moves lightening quick. Silas is unhinged, Rosalie doesn't seem to mind and loves that he always puts her first. The smexy scenes are still on the tamer side for the tropes, but equally satisfying. All wrapped up with a HEA.
I really enjoyed Rum and Roses, this is a Dark Romance novella and because it is short the pace and progression of the story and relationships are fast.
Please also check your Triggers.
I loved Silas, he was like an unhinged Golden Retriever kidnapper and Rosie is so sweet. However she is very insecure in herself and with Silas she finds here home and security.
✨✨Book Tour✨✨ This book is easy to inhale in one sitting! If you are a lover of dark romance this is going to be a great pick for you! I enjoyed the contrast between the characters as the FMC is this blonde small adorable ballerina, and the MMC is this dark brooding tatted guy who is VERY morally grey! I would check TWS about this book because it does deal with some subjects that can be triggering. I enjoyed this book! Thank you to R&R yours for having me on this review tour
Absolutely loved this quick read! Silas is so adorable , it’s so hard not to fall in love with him. Rosalie is such a sweet soul. Opposites attract right? 😉 The tension had me kicking my feet and giggling hehe 😋 this is the perfect palette cleanser. Dark romance with a HEA? How can you not want to read this!
I can’t tell exactly what age the characters are and there’s too many moments where I felt Silas was like teenage young, as well as Rosalie. That just took me out of it.
Silas’ inner dialogue irked me, sounded like a child trying to act tough.
NO RATING. This was a little unhinged, and I'm okay with that. Except since this was a novella, there was barely any development that matters. As in, the MMC was already obsessed with the heroine, and just the FMC wasn't acting like a normal woman would after being kidnapped despite knowing the guy. It's quite a delusional piece, so read this at your own discretion.
