Something happened to my little sister, Emily, last Halloween. Something so traumatic that our mom has been afraid to go into her bedroom. Something so devastating that our dad doesn’t come home from work anymore. Something that even though they’ll never admit it, our parents blamed me for.
She vanished and I heard an officer say to another that sometimes kids just vanish.. Emily wasn’t just some kid though. Although polite, she was not friendly. Not friendly enough to go off with a stranger willingly. She was right behind me when I leaned over to get candy out of the bucket on our neighbor’s front porch; so I would’ve heard her put up a fight.
I never believed she vanished… she was taken.. And I think she knew who she went with. I had to find her… and I did.. We’re together now.
Two girls gone.. Vanished like some kids do.. My name is Olivia Duval and I hope we’re found before it’s too late.
Emily & Olivia’s story was made me clutch my invisible pearls on numerous occasions throughout this story! Of course I was absolutely wrong on my guesses about who kidnapped them, and when the big reveal happened WOW was the only thing my vocabulary let me articulate. When I say jaw dropping, that’s what I mean. Per usual by this author, this was a great & heartbreaking story!
Great from start to finish. Those twists were twisting! I am looking forward to reading the others in the Halloween series. A new novel will be released everyday!
Ma'am!! This was intense! 😮 The cracks had begun to show in the marriage of Patrick and Melissa Duval. With both of them having a closer relationship to one daughter, while seemingly ignoring the other one. But why? 👀 It was alluded to that Melissa may have had doubts of Emily's parentage, but what did that have to do with why she treated Olivia so poorly? 🤯 Then when Emily disappears on Halloween night, the family just completely falls apart. 💔
Working with the police is not getting the Duval family results, so Olivia takes it upon herself to find her sister. For this girl to be 10 years old, she was smart as hell! Had a ton of clues, documented them, and knew just what to do to find her sister. When I say this thang had me on the edge of my chair, and increased my heart rate, it did!! 😨 That twist took me out! I changed my mind several times about whodunit, and I never would have guessed that person! Great read. 👍🏿👍🏿
This story kept your eyebrows raised! This was what’s done in the dark comes to light. Rather you’re dealing with infidelities, sickness, mental issues or just plain sick, if you try to hide it, it will come out! Each piece of this puzzle had something they were hiding that all came boiling out near Halloween & at the expense of a missing child! Now I will say for once I hate we didn’t get the happy ending but I will also say it made the build up that much intense!!!! If you wanted gruesome, this is not it but it’s gets crazy enough! The Duval girls are together again!
I wasn't expecting the one who took the girls because the author introduced so many other possibilities of who it couldve been & they had direct contact with them lol....I DID NOT like the fact that the oldest was only 10 & the Mom let them out of the house AT NIGHT by themselves like that...Matter fact, the Mom Irritated me quite a few times with her shenanigans! It was an "ok" read
Naturally I tried to figure it out. I wasn't going with the obvious. However, I wasn't prepared for the true enemy. This was a good book for such a short read. Straight to the point but no rushed. I enjoyed it.
Linette King has done it again this book had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end the plot twist was jaw dropping and the suspense was everything
