Exorcists, demons, and teenagers with insane abilities? Yes please 🙌🏻
This series has so much potential. You can feel it right from the first volume. The vibe, the pacing, everything just clicks. The art style is honestly so good too. You can clearly see the influences, but it still feels fresh. I love it. 🖤
I really enjoyed the 𝙢𝙞𝙭 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙤𝙧. The 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙙𝙮𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘, but it 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙩𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮, which makes it even better.
The story blends contemporary Japanese life (schools, cities, everyday society) with supernatural elements like demons and exorcists operating behind the scenes.

Not surprised at all that this is already getting hype from big names and Shonen Jump. It really feels like it could become something big.
Overall I had such a good time reading this and I’m really excited to see where it goes next. Such a strong start 🔥

Diese Reihe hat so viel Potenzial. Das merkt man direkt schon im ersten Band. Die Atmosphäre, das Pacing, alles passt einfach. Auch der Artstyle ist echt stark. Man sieht die Einflüsse klar, aber es wirkt trotzdem frisch. Ich liebe es 🖤

Hoy os traigo la reseña de Kiyoshi el Exorcist, la primera entrega de este manga que empieza pisando fuerte. 👹🔥
¿Por dónde empezar? La estética de toda la obra es una maravilla. Todos los exorcistas tienen su propio estilo e incluso los demonios cuentan con una personalidad y una forma de vestir muy marcadas, cosa que me ha parecido un puntazo. Sí, hay ciertos clichés, pero eso no hace que la obra decaiga en ningún momento.
Desde las primeras páginas consigue sacarte una sonrisa porque no te ves venir muchas de las situaciones. Tiene muchísimo humor, rozando incluso lo absurdo, y me ha encantado. 😂
Kiyoshi me ha gustado mucho como protagonista, pero Jack Joe... se ha llevado mi corazón. ❤️ Cuando lo leáis entenderéis por qué. Además, ya tengo la sensación de que va a tener muchísima importancia en el futuro, aunque todavía no vea por dónde va a ir exactamente la historia.
Sin contaros mucho más, porque quiero que lo disfrutéis por vosotros mismos, os puedo decir que aquí vais a encontrar una buena dosis de humor (muy estilo One Piece), exorcismos, demonios, batallas y personajes de lo más carismáticos. ⚔️👹
¿Qué más se puede pedir?
Así que ya sabéis... no sé a qué estáis esperando.

Kiyoshi Harai is a 16-year-old exorcist who is the youngest to graduate from exorcist academy and as valedictorian. There's just one problem: he gets scared of demons.
Kiyoshi gets assigned to exorcise a demon. He puts on a tough exterior, but he's actually terrified. TBH, I didn't enjoy this story as much. I was expecting to find a hidden gem of sorts. It's been a while since a manga has impressed me.
There is a lot of humor in the manga. I didn't care for it. The only one I did like was:
How dare he do this to my classmates and my friends (pending)!!

I decided to read this honestly not only on the synopsis but on the art. I was really surprised to learn this is not the same creator as gachiakuta because the art is SO similar. Either way I enjoyed the art in this. The story was fantastic as well. I love the idea of the an ultimate exorcist being super shy and could relate to that. It had a good dose of action and I enjoyed the comedy scenes. I would 100% keep reading

I feel like I’m being pretty harsh on this one but I didn’t really have a good time reading Kiyoshi.
On one hand I like the art, I think it’s solid and I smiled because you can see pretty clearly how working with Eiichiro Oda was an influence on how Usui styles his characters. Kiyoshi would be right at home fighting side by side with Luffy.
When it comes to the character himself though Kiyoshi didn’t connect with me or rather how he’s presented. It felt like I was being told how to feel about him more often than being shown attributes of him and naturally empathizing with him and this carried over to the other characters introduced too. It made things feel hollow for me in my opinion and it doesn’t help that Kiyoshi is extremely powerful too because again were told these demon lords are bad motherfu/$3@s but Kiyoshi takes many of them down without even taking damage.
Even though the characters didn’t do much for me I think the plot is fine, it’s predictable but not bad. Things take a turn for the better towards the end but without the hook of the characters the impact of what goes down didn’t really phase me.
Overall I don’t think this one is for me so I won’t be picking up vol 2 but I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying it.

So, I actually kind of like this????
The premise seemed kind of silly—a powerful but socially inept, shy and wimpy exorcist facing his (real and inner) demons. It sounds like an amalgamation of several series already out there—and, to be fair, it IS. I can’t deny that. But, this is also very charming?
I like that it riffs on “Soul Eater’s” aesthetics while incorporating story elements from “Blue Exorcist”. Some of the gothic imagery is reminiscent of many early 90’s manga as well (think “Vampire Knight” and “Nana”). This story very much celebrates those stylistic choices.
Kiyoshi, also, is unexpectedly compelling. He’s shy and awkward in young, teen boy kind of way—underscoring how this is also a coming of age story as much as it is an entertaining, supernatural shonen. Though he finds it difficult to speak to girls, there’s also no unnecessary fan service or objectification (so far) of female characters. I’d like to see more development of these characters but there’s nothing objectionable about their presence in this story (so far).
I’m definitely looking forward to more development of this world and the exorcist and demon forces that populate it and compose the central dichotomies—we get scraps in this first volume.
But, I’m very willing to give this series a chance~

Hahahaha, das war ja mal super funny 😂
Es beginnt ziemlich ernst, doch schnell stellt sich heraus, dass unser ultimativer Exorzist gar nicht so taff ist, wie er aussieht - denn eigentlich hat er total Schiss vor Dämonen! Sein erster Job wirkt wie aus dem Film Exorzismus. Nur dass der Dämon ihn über drei Stunden hinweg gar nicht angreift, sondern nur böse anstarrt. Es passieren ein paar Dinge und plötzlich steht der Dämon in seiner normalen Gestalt neben Kiyoshi und sie unterhalten sich ganz normal - als wären sie Freunde. Die Dynamik zwischen den Charakteren und der Verlauf von den ernsten Szenen zu den lustigen ist richtig gut platziert. Auch sonst ist der Plot an sich sehr interessant und spannend aufgebaut, ebenso mit Charme und Witz. Denn Kiyoshi will andere beschützen, ob Mensch oder Dämon, solange sie freundlich sind und niemandem etwas antun! Kiyoshi Harai is 16 and a recent graduate of the exorcist academy. He’s insanely powerful, but the problem is, he’s terrified of demons, thanks to a childhood trauma. He also has social anxiety, which only shows on the inside. On the outside, he looks cool and glowering.
The first volume follows Kiyoshi from his first assignment to his first exorcism post in the boons, which he chooses because of his hero who works there. He gets over his fear of demons pretty fast, thanks to a fatherly demon he needs to banish who gives him encouragement. At his post, he enrolls to a high school and gets to work on his other anxieties.

The first volume follows Kiyoshi from his first assignment to his first exorcism post in the boons, which he chooses because of his hero who works there. He gets over his fear of demons pretty fast, thanks to a fatherly demon he needs to banish who gives him encouragement. At his post, he enrolls to a high school and gets to work on his other anxieties.

What drew me to this manga was the premise -- the world's strongest exorcist is the most awkward one; someone who is afraid of fighting the demons he's sent to exorcise. However, within the first volume, Kiyoshi is still awkward, which I love, and the supporting characters are charming as well. Overall, I have a hard time seeing the direction this manga is going - it doesn't feel like it has enough momentum for a first volume.

Es divertido, con un estilo muy parecido al de One Piece.
Esto ya es cosa mía, pero me encanta que la mayoría de personajes tenga piercings y tatuajes, me mola eso. Siguiendo por ahí, los personajes me parecen bien construidos por lo que llevamos de historia. Me da que Jack Joe va a importar en futuros capítulos, y me gustaría saber más sobre ese “pacto” que han hecho.
En cuanto a historia, me parece bastaaaante cliché. Vi mucho contenido en redes sociales sobre este libro con muy buenas críticas, y eso hizo que mis expectativas fueran altas. No es para tanto. No es un manga que vaya a cambiarte la vida, ni mucho menos. Cumple su función, la de entretener.
Además, entiendo que el protagonista, Kiyoshi, sea súper poderoso y todo eso, pero cargarse a tres de los trece soberanos demoníacos en un mismo volumen me parece un poco excesivo. Siento que todo ha avanzado un poco más rápido de lo que debería. Me queda claro que es fuerte, lo repiten constantemente.

Omggggg finally it's on Goodreads. This is one awesome shounen manga. It's been a while since I felt a desire to read a new shounen manga - something that would make the next gen especially after the disaster of an terribly plotted ending for JJK. I stumbled on this through a recommendation from the great Oda-sensei and he hasn't steered me wrong. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi starts off with a bang. While the style is edgy, it's not just decoration. The worldbuilding is intriguing. And I like that the main character is powerful - strong but with plenty of space to grow and plenty of desire to exceed himself. I need to catch up on recent chapters as soon as I can.

Come numero uno di una storia sugli esorcisti non è male, il suo protagonista è credibile e alcuni dei comprimari sembrano caratterizzati in maniera promettente, ma la vicenda iniziale si attesta sul racconto - e persino qualche scena - tra i più inflazionati del genere. Non ne continuerò la lettura, ma credo possa piacere a chi fosse incuriosito da temi simili, senza averne già letti altri. Parlando dei "competitor" ancora in corso, consiglio di orientarsi verso titoli come Blue exorcist.

A bit up and down imo, but it’s got some charm to it. The plot is like Blue Exorcist mixed with Mashle. Not super into the plot so far, but it was decent. I liked the art though, and you can really see Usui’s One Piece assistant work coming through on a lot of Kiyoshi’s expressions, lol.
Still finding its footing tbh, but I liked the art and characters enough to probably come back for a second volume when it comes out. Hopefully Usui decides to spice up the plot a bit somehow, though.

De lo que he estado consumiendo últimamente de shonen la verdad es que Kiyoshi es el que más ameno se me ha hecho, aún siendo un cliché andante te hace reír y tiene panelazos y momentazos (al menos según yo) así que 100% la seguiré leyendo.
Y bueno me parece curioso que el autor sea ayudante de Oda porque si ha habido algunos momentos que me han recordado un poco a One Piece y hasta me ha hecho ilusión 😋

Kiyoshi is just an awkward cinnamon roll of a boy and I love it.
Yeah, he's a super powerful exorcist but honestly this is more of a coming-of-age story where Kiyoshi learns how to people. Also, he keeps befriending and protecting demons, which kind of makes him a failure as an exorcist but a successful human.
The artwork can be a but chaotic and hard to follow but I'm loving the vibes and will follow this series.

An exorcist that's scared of demons I love that! He's awkward and shy too that's just a bonus! It even funnier that he has tattoos to ward of demons. I love the bond between him and Mr.Sakaki. It's so funny that he made omurice at a Chinese restaurant and the customers loved it. Akaris powers are super cool and I like her as a character as well! I honestly really like all the chatacters and I'm glad that he was able to make some new friends.

I actually got invested in Jack Joe & Nehan at the end I almost cried. Also I love the wholesome kind protagonist trope. Kiyoshi is a really good person to be following in this series. I’m always surprised when I enjoy a shonen manga so much because I never did as a kid. These series just grew on me as I got older.

Lo he empezado con pocas esperanzas, porque los shônens de demonios no son mi rollo para nada (abandoné JJK muy pronto por desinterés), pero me ha entretenido y dirás que hay hasta algún pequeño demoniete que se hace tierno. Leeré con gusto el siguiente tomo cuando salga. Una sorpresa muy grata, vaya.

Kind of a fun shonen, but it feels like it abandons the premise pretty early. Kiyoshi being afraid of demons seems to fall by the wayside pretty fast and it looks to be more about him butting heads with other exorcists or drawing the attention of big baddies. Feels pretty typical for the action-comedy genre. Not sure how well it will hold up in the long run, but things don't need to run for tens of volumes and I usually don't like the tone shifts made to do so.

this is FUN. i gotta say... THANKS ODA!!! i started reading because of the goat. i didnt think it was going to be as funny as it was - the art style is GREAT and im really enjoying my overpowered MC who just wants to have a normal life. along for an exciting ride

A rocky start leads to a really fun shonen comedy series. Love the artwork, and the more cartoon style. Top it off with pretty solid pacing in the mid to later halves of the volume, and I thought this was a solid start.

The creator, as stated, was an assistant for Eiichiro Oda for five years, and boy, does it show. Good blend of action and comedy (although most of the fights are one-shot affairs thus far) that keeps you interested in what will happen next.

Se lee muy rápido. Desde el primer minuto me ha enganchado la trama. Los personajes no son complejos y es muy fácil para seguir la historia. Tiene un tono de humor que me recuerda a one piece. Con ganas de que saquen el siguente tomo para saber cómo continúa la historia.
