Amish Country Danger
Book 1: Amish Midwife Witness Book 2: A Killer's Target Book 3: The Marshal's Key Witness
This is a Christian Romantic Suspense, and this is the second book in the Amish Country Danger series. I have not read the first book in this series before picking up this book. I read this book by listening to the audiobook, and I really enjoyed it. I got totally pulled into this story right away. This book is fast paced with a ton of suspense and action with a little bit of romance mixed into it. I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters in this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
One of my favorite suspense authors has done it again by captivating my attention with her details into forensic photography. I loved that Leila held such an interesting job and showed such strength and courage after the murder of her twin. This story has many twists and turns like being lost in a corn maze and not knowing what is around the next bend. Brett is the perfect hero to protect Leila and her daughter Evie as they try to stay ahead of the killer. With Faith gently woven in to give hope and a little bit of sweet romance to soften the storyline I would say it balances out to be an all around great read that kept me up way to late turning pages quickly. I found the setting in Amish country interesting. If you are looking for a quick suspense read then look no farther. This is the second book in the Amish Country Danger series but could easily be read as standalone. I received a complimentary copy from the author. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
I loved this fantastic story filled with romance and suspense. I loved Leila and Brett. I enjoyed every twist and turn as Brett must keep them alive. I loved the idea of them in Amish country. I loved all of the action in the story. I could not put this book down. I received a copy of the book and gave an honest opinion.
A Killer’s Target by Dana R. Lynn Book 2 in the Amish Country Danger series.
A love reading Dana’s books. They have a good paging turning read every time. This is Brett & Leila’s story.
We read about Leila Britton, a forensic photographer & single mom of a 4yr old, and Lieutenant Brett Talbot and their stories. When we meet Leila she is at a crime scene of a young woman who was murdered. Brett is the lead investigator on the case. While she is photographing the scene and the victim she realizes that this isn’t the primary crime scene and she goes to explore a bit to see if she can find the primary location and she runs into the killer who tries to kidnap her! But thankfully Brett and the others officers are able to save her. Turns out the killer is a serial killer with a very specific type and he brands his victims and Leila fits the description. One of his victims was her identical twin sister, Tara. She turned away from God (and her dad) after her sister died and Leila’s husband died with his mistress.
Brett has a very tortured past too. His dad beat up his mom while he was growing up, and then him as well when he got in between them to stand up for her when he got older. His dad one day after Brett turns 18 takes it too far and kills Brett’s mom and goes to prison. Brett turned to God to help him through and his best friend Carter.
Will they be able to unmask the killer before he fulfills his ultimate goal of killing Leila?
Dana R. Lynn’s books never fail to be full of page-turning suspense, and this one is no exception. It’s so enjoyable to search for clues with Leila and Brett. If you are looking for a story with a nice blend of action, danger, and romance, this is a series to pick up. While this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel.
I’m not sure that I have ever read a book with the lead character being a forensic photographer, and I loved that angle. It gave a whole different insight into the crime scene and how everything unfolded. Leila and Brett’s relationship develops at a realistic pace, and it is great to see the growth of both of these characters. Readers can’t help but root for them. The action starts early on, and it keeps readers guessing throughout. There are some unexpected twists, as well. I can’t wait for the next installment.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.
A KILLER’S TARGET by Dana R. Lynn is the stupendous, action-filled story of Leila Britton, forensic photographer, and Lieutenant Brett Talbot as they try to stay one step ahead of a serial killer, who has his sights set on Leila, while trying to figure out his identity and stop his killing spree.
Leila has never gotten over the murder of her twin sister from ten-years-ago. While she’d tried to move on, gotten married, became a widow with a new baby and moved back to Sterling Ridge two-years-ago, it all came crushing back when a crime scene she was called out on proved that the Brand Killer (TBK), that they’d thought dead when the killings stopped some years back, had struck again. She had taken her love of photography and turning it into a job as a forensic photographer as a way to help others that were in the shoes her family once were. Can she now find evidence to lead to the identity of TBK or will she become his next victim?
Lieutenant Brett Talbot’s past is best forgotten. Only Carter, his best friend, knew of it and had always been there for him. He’d became a police officer to serve and to help – to help others, like how his mother had needed help. Very professional and extremely successful in his work, he never really let folks into his personal life. So, why was he so drawn to Leila and determined to protect her while bringing down this monster out to kill her?
Will the TBK come after Evie, Leila’s four-year-old daughter, in order to get to Leila? Will moving into her babysitter’s home in the Amish community keep them safe? Can Brett keep Leila safe without losing his heart? Will Brett opening up to her, giving her the feeling of being safe and his interactions with Evie begin to tug on Leila’s shielded heart? Can Leila forget the past betrayal so she can love again? Is there a pattern to this serial killer’s victims? What will it take to draw the TBK out? Will they ever find out why Leila’s twin was killed or why he wants Leila to be victim #8?
A KILLER’S TARGET is an exceptional, suspense-filled story that grab you from the first page and keeps you turning pages to the very end as you search for clues alongside Leila and Brett. Dana R. Lynn gives us a story of action, suspense, danger, romance, resilience, mystery, friendship and wraps it all in a wonderful thread of faith. A KILLER’S TARGET is a magnificent FIVE STAR book that I can wholeheartedly recommend to everyone!
While A KILLER’S TARGET is the second book in the Amish Country Danger series, it can definitely be read as a standalone book.
I received an ARC of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own. #AKillersTarget #AmishCountryDanger #DanaRLynn #LoveInspiredSuspense #InspirationalRomance

Final Thoughts: I absolutely love books from Love Inspired, so Love Inspired Suspense is always a bonus! I quickly discovered this was actually Book 2 in a series, so I considered reading Amish Midwife Witness first. However, since I could only find it in print and didn't have a lot of time to sit down today, I decided to skip it for now—though I definitely plan to double back to it later. This story starts off with action and does not let up; there is action from the beginning all the way to the finish! Unfortunately, a lot of foolish choices are what kept the action going, so I just accepted it as having a "cozy thriller" vibe. A lot of the lines the killer said while accosting the main character were cheesy, but that honestly just made it funny. Evie was a welcome addition to the cast, and I looked forward to her humorous vocabulary throughout the story. I don't think I've seen this much action in a Christian romantic suspense before, so I totally enjoyed the story. I wanted to give it five stars, but because of the obvious missteps, I just couldn't quite bring myself to do it. This story took me all day to finish—I started early this morning and didn't finish until after dinner—because I had so many phone calls and interruptions! I was so upset because I felt like this could have taken me only a few hours, but I'm not mad at it. It was a great ride, and I'm really looking forward to reading Book 1 and catching up with Book 3 later this year.
Recommend to others: Yes! This story was great and very satisfying. It might be a little dark for some clean readers, but there is nothing on-screen.

Thank you Dana for allowing me to participate in this launch team. I loved the story and adored the characters. I look forward to reading your next story.
A Killer's Target by Dana R. Lynn
Leila Britton has lost the 2 most important people in her life, first her twin sister who was murdered, then a few years later, after they had moved to Colorado, her mother died. Leila tried with her father but she felt abandoned by him, as if she was a reminder of those he lost. He soon remarried and moved on. She went to college and met the man who she thought would be a good husband and father. But then he died in the bed of his mistress when the house caught on fire, the shame and embarrassment was too much for her so she thought it might be a good time to go back home and find someone who will help her solve her sister's murder. When she met Lieutenant Brett Talbott, she instantly felt safe, that could also be because he saved her life.
Lieutenant Brett Talbot could not believe that the first day that the new forensic photographer starts, she ends up getting attacked. Good thing he heard her scream. When the coroner Deanna Snow arrived on the scene of the body that had been found earlier in the day, she took time to do a preliminary. When Leila appeared next to her Deanna tried to dissuade her from looking at the body, Leila reminded her that she had just finished photographing the body. Deanna informed her that this body was different. Perhaps connected to her sister's death. Brett just stood there wondering what the whole story was. Leila has learned that the men in her life never turn out to be who or what she needs. And unfortunately that holds with God as well. But as Leila's and Brett's lives are connected she starts to believe that not all men can be lumped together.
A Killer's Target by Dana R. Lynn (Amish Country Danger Book 2)
Book 2 of 2: Amish Country Danger
Taking refuge in Amish country may be her only chance to survive…
After nearly being kidnapped at a crime scene, forensic photographer Leila Britton discovers the serial killer who murdered her twin sister has resurfaced—with Leila as his next intended victim. With her life and her daughter’s future at stake, Leila must place her trust in Lieutenant Brett Talbot to protect them. But danger follows them relentlessly, forcing them to seek refuge deep in Amish country. However safety is fleeting, and the killer seems to know every step she takes. Can Leila and Brett unmask the killer before he fulfills his ultimate goal—and Leila runs out of places to hide? My favorite quote is “Are you the ones who found her and called 911?”
They shook their heads.
“No, ma’am.” The taller boy, obviously the spokesperson, pointed to the kayak in the bed of a pickup truck. “We’d been kayaking but decided to pack it in when we saw the sky.”
“Did you happen to see anyone else in the area?” Both boys shook their heads.
If they didn’t call 911, who did? According to the request for a forensic photographer, the dispatcher had said the caller hung up after reporting the body. She hadn’t said the caller sounded like a kid, though. A chill worked its way down her spine. The spot between her shoulder blades prickled. I recommend this book. A killer's Target by Dana R. Lynn is a 5-star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Dana R. Lynn. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own. From Love Inspired Suspense: Courage. Danger. Faith.
Terrific story with an intensity that kept me hooked from beginning to end. Leila is a forensic photographer. She loved photography as a teen, and when her twin died at the hands of a serial killer, she turned that passion into a career. As the story opens, Leila is called to document the crime scene. She's terrified when she realizes that this murder has the same characteristics as her sister's, a feeling reinforced when she is attacked at the scene.
Brett chose a life of service after surviving a traumatic childhood. He's devoted his life to protecting those who need it, while remaining emotionally distant. But there is something about Leila that gets past his walls.
I enjoyed seeing Brett and Leila's relationship develop. Leila learns that it is okay to lean on Brett's strength and still maintain her independence. Brett realizes that real love does exist, despite what he experienced as a child. I loved watching them together. Brett's protectiveness toward Leila and her daughter, Evie, was sweet, and I loved how Evie took to him right away. I liked how Brett gave Leila the space she needed at the end to process everything she'd been through. The birthday party scene at the end was adorable.
The action and suspense of the story were intense from the get-go. We know that Leila is the target right from the beginning. It seems that no matter what they do, the killer keeps finding them. Car chases, fires, and additional murders keep the intensity high as Brett and Leila try to identify the killer. A twist at the end blew a hole in my theory of who it was, with a final confrontation that had me glued to the pages until it was over.
Everytime a read a mystery by this author I realize just why I love these books, they are page turning, full of clean mystery and tossed with a dose of faith and romance. In this particular book I really loved these characters and the connection they develop while working together to not only survive but solve a heartbreaking crime spree. I for one would like to see a series with Leila and Brett continuing through their passion to help others when tossed into to a mystery of their own. Both these characters are full of passion, strength and love for not only each other but a desire to make their community a safer place for all. After years on heartache after her sisters murder Leila comes face to face with the truth of the terrible day her life changed forever, can she survive? Can see get past this trauma to a place of calm, loving contentment? Brett choose a path of community service after surviving a traumatic past and yet his life is far from full, can he have a loving relationship and move beyond his past or will he be hooked into a web of memories and pain? I really loved this book and believe you will as well, I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book however all opinions are my own. As always Happy Reading.
A serial killer has returned to continue his deadly reign of terror, putting forensic photographer Leila Britton’s life in danger more than once. Years earlier, Leila’s twin sister was murdered, and Leila has been haunted by the tragedy ever since. Now, it seems the killer is back, as the murders continue. Now it appears that Leila may be his next target.
After Leila barely escapes the killer’s clutches, Lieutenant Brett Talbot is determined to protect her. This isn’t easy for Leila, who has always considered herself strong and independent. But when the killer gets dangerously close to home, Leila must think about more than just protecting herself. She must also protect her young daughter.
A Killer’s Target was a very good read! This story is filled with suspense, twists and turns, danger, and the developing feelings between Leila and Brett. I especially enjoyed the sheer kindness shown by Leila’s daughter’s Amish babysitter and her family. Their support not only reinforced Leila’s faith but also had a meaningful impact on Brett.
I really enjoyed this suspenseful story and am looking forward to the next book in the series!
Dana Lynn definitely knows how to write suspense filled, action packed books. Leila struggles with the murder of her twin sister and tries to move on with her life, but is put in danger while she is doing her job as a forensic photographer at the scene of a crime. Good thing Lieutenant Brett showed up when he did to protect her from becoming a victim. Brett became a police officer to protect others based on his past, but in order to protect Leila and her daughter’s life, they must find protection in an Amish community from the serial killer. As the killer pursues Leila, she and Brett must work together to figure out why and top stay safe while doing so. This is an edge of your seat gripping mystery written by a well talented writer. It is scheduled to be released on July 28, 2026 and you will not be disappointed.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author. All words are my own.

Well you will get your action in on this one! Forensic photographer Leila Britton is nearly taken at a crime scene. She discovers that the serial killer who killed her twin sister 5 years ago has returned and is killing again! He makes several attempts to take her or kill her. Can Lieutenant Brett Talbot keep her safe and find the one who is behind these killings? or are both their lives plus her daughter's life on the line?
Check out this book! Lots of action. Killer is not who you suspect it could be. I enjoyed this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author but was under No obligation to give a favorable review. This review is my honest opinion of the book. Glad i got to read it.
Leila Britton became a forensic photographer to help other families find justice after her twin sister was killed by a serial killer. Little did she expect at her next crime scene to be almost kidnapped and that the kidnapper would turn out to be her sister's killer that had resurfaced all these years later. Now the killer intends to make Leila his next victim. Lieutenant Brett Talbot arrives just in time to save Leila from being kidnapped. Now he vows to protect Leila so that her daughter will not grow up without her mom. As both Leila and Brett must overcome obstacles from their past they must dodge attack after attack of Leila by the killer and figure out who could want her dead and why. This is full of suspense and twists all around. I definitely enjoyed it. Great read Dana!
Forensic photographer Leila Britton returns to her hometown and finds herself the target of the serial killer who killed her twin sister years before.
Leila and her young daughter go into hiding with the Amish, along with Lt. Brett Talbot as they fight to stay one step ahead of the killer. Action packed and suspenseful, there is good relationship building and dialogue. I liked how Brett bonded with Leila's daughter, and how he stepped up to protect them.
Engaging, and fast paced, I liked how the Amish babysitter welcomed them into her life, and how Leila and Brett's faith grows stronger through this ordeal. Thrilling suspense and strong faith. Definitely recommend!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love this book so much! It pulled you in from the beginning. Leila is a forensic photographer who’s called out to a crime scene where she meets a police officer named Brett. These two are about to go on an intense journey to find out who TBK is and why he’s back after all these years. I loved getting to know each of the characters and secondary characters. I hope we get more books about them. It was a thrill until the end where we get the cutest epilogue EVER. I was pulled in from the moment I started and wasn’t let until the very end. Loved Leila and Brett’s story. Can’t wait for the next one.
Yet another amazing read written by Dana R. Lynn. I was given an early copy of the book by the author to read and review. This is the second book in her new series Amish Country Danger and is Brett and Leila's story. From the moment I began reading this book I had a hard time putting it down. It kept me interested from the first chapter until the very last. Watching Brett and Leila slowly fall in love despite their pasts kept me hooked until the very end and Leila's daughter, little Evie just made it that much better.
When forensic photographer Leila Britton is called out to take pictures of a murder victim, she immediately recognizes the similarities to her twin sister's murder years ago. A serial killer is back and stalking her hometown. When she is nearly abducted from the crime scene, it begins to become clear that the murderer is actually stalking her. Will she be able to hide long enough to get justice for the victims?
This was a "can't put it down" book with a sweet side of romance. I highly recommend!
I'm delighted that it's time for the next book in author Dana Lynn's new Amish Country Danger series! In A Killer's Target, the killer who murdered Leila Britton's twin sister is back...for her. There is so much action, it truly is non-stop. Just as Leila and Brett race to stop a killer, I was racing to read this amazing story. Is "unputdownable" a word? If not, it should be! Faith plus action plus romance plus Amish Country equals a major winner. Plus it has my favorite, an epilogue! My thanks for the complimentary copy of this book. My opinion is entirely my own.
A cold case turns hot in this fantastic suspense! This story has everything you could possibly want in an inspirational romantic suspense. A serial killer returns. A widowed mother becomes the latest target of the man who murdered her twin years ago. This is a must-read you will not be able to put down. The danger does not let up, keeping you on the edge of your seat. Once again, Dana R. Lynn has exceeded my expectations. I strongly recommend A Killer's Target. I received an advance copy from the author. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
This was jam packed with action from the first few pages. This author knows how to set a scene that will give you goosebumps and have you racing through the pages to the finish like a mad person.
The Brand Killer (TBK) is back, and things get tense and testy immediately. You do not have time to catch your breath as the hits just keep coming. There is a wonderful faith element enmeshed in the story as well as a sweet romance.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A bone chilling story with a serial killer after a forensic photographer and the police officer who protects her with his life. Laila is being stalked by the same killer who murdered her twin sister. Laila cannot imagine who would want her dead. Laila has a small daughter she needs to protect and Brett is one of the police tasked with protecting them. Her Amish babysitter gives them a place to hide. This killer is ruthless and smart always seeming to be one step ahead. A very easy to read story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Dana R. Lynn really knows how to start a book off with a bang! The laundry wasn’t folded, dinner was cereal, but I was able to finish this in a day. Reading goals fulfilled. Leila Britton is a forensic photographer who is called to a crime scene. She was exploring the site and almost got kidnapped by the killer! Thankfully Officer Brett Talbot is there to save her before the serial killer takes her. Leila’s main concern is keeping her daughter Evie safe. But will Leila and Brett be able to outrun a killer? #DanaRLynn #AKillersTarget #AmishFiction #LoveInspired #AmishRomance
Dana R. Lynn knows how to keep a story alive. I picked up this book last night and read one chapter. Today I started reading again and could not put down.
A forensic photographer, Leila is being stalked by a serial killer. Lieutenant Brett has vowed to protect Leila and her young daughter. After several attempts Leila goes into hiding with an Amish friend but her attacker keeps showing up. Can Brett stop the attacker before Leila looses her life?
I have loved all of Dana‘s books, and this was no exception. They are full of action and suspense and you never know what’s going to happen next. And there’s a little romance weaved into the story. All of these books are set in Amish country and in somewhere another involve the Amish. I was given a complementary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.
Can be read as a standalone but may have characters that overlap. She's back trying to start fresh with her daughter. Last thing she expected was to find herself reliving the past. Serial killer Hiding in plain sight
