The Blood Oath; A Deadly Reckoning BeginsThe battle at Seabright Depot was only the beginning. Isla Crowley thought defeating Blackthorn and stopping the ritual would be enough. She was wrong. In the chaos of that night, something ancient was unleashed, and it marked her.

Now, Isla is changing. Her power is growing, but so is the danger it brings. The Severed cult still lingers in the shadows, their loyalty shifting as they sense something darker awakening within her. As her team fights to uncover the truth behind Malachai Voss’s ultimate plan, the murders across the city grow more gruesome, the sigils more ominous.

But the real threat isn’t just Malachai. It’s what’s inside Isla.

With time running out and trust within her team fracturing, Isla must face the terrifying stopping Malachai might not be enough. Because the real war isn’t just against him, it’s against what she is becoming.

Can she control the darkness within, or will she be the one to bring the world to its knees?

By day, I'm a caffeine-fueled writer in my forties who believes cake is a food group and animals make the best coworkers (they judge silently). I grew up surrounded by books and secretly hoping the dog was a werewolf. Now I spend my time weaving supernatural tales filled with mystery, mischief, and the occasional ghost with attitude. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me walking my rescue dog, reading. A lot!, binge-watching fiction, or baking cupcakes I fully intend to share… but don’t.

Thanks Lenena for this ALC of Blood Oath, I rated this a 3.5/5!

This was yet another fun, easy fast paced read from Lenena picking up straight from where it left off from book one The Moonlit Pact. If you enjoy an urban fantasy and a team that sets out to solve and defeat the villain with his evil plot you will love this. I stand by what i say when it reminds me of buffy but make it wolves and witches! I especially enjoyed seeing more of Camilla in this book and the world building was done well.

May I also add the narrator for the audiobook Kathlyn Nicole-Milne did a fantastic job - the voices had great range and emotion.

The ending has me wanting to finish the next book/see what becomes of the MC Isla!

“I take it this isn’t a social visit?” he said, setting his book aside. “Not unless you consider ritualistic murder a casual topic of conversation,” Ronan muttered.

In the second instalment of The Silver Hollows Chronicles, Isla Crowley and her team are thrown back into the deep end of fighting the dark supernatural forces threatening to shred their lives apart. As they try to stick together and solve the case, will the team be able to handle all that is thrown their way? Or will the dark corrode what's left of the light?

**Spoilers Ahead**
--Since Blood Oath is the second book in The Silver Hollows Chronicles, there may be spoilers from book one, The Moonlit Pact, throughout this review
--With that said, no spoilers for Blood Oath are revealed

Staying true to the pacing set in book one (The Moonlit Pact), Blood Oath throws the readers right back to where we left off last, following Isla, Camilla, Ronan, and Elias as they continue to work against the dark forces threatening their lives. Following their latest battle at Seabright, the team is not only trying to solve the case in front of them, but they are now faced with also navigating the fallout of the Seabright battle.

While Blood Oath successfully followed in its predecessors' footsteps by maintaining a fast and action-packed pace, it also followed suit in being just as rushed. I was hoping Blood Oath would bring more clarity to the storyline and further support the world-building; however, with such a rushed pace, these details once again fell through the cracks. With that being said, Lenena Ronheer also brings back the vivid imagery I enjoyed from *The Moonlit Pact*. Unfortunately, this also left me wondering why she hadn’t utilized more of this fantastic imagery throughout the novel.

Especially in a series, one thing I really look for is character development. I love seeing the growth of each character from the beginning to the end. While readers can expect to see major changes in Isla throughout the series, I was pleasantly surprised by Camilla’s character in this book. Becoming my favourite character in the series thus far, she really infused more humour and personality into the storyline. Right from the beginning, her commentary was helpful to pulling me into the magic of the storyline, while also bringing the team - and readers - back to the reality of the situation at hand. In comparison to her character in book one, this was a breath of fresh air.

For those looking to continue the adventure started in The Moonlit Pact, Blood Oath packs a punch with the pace, some of the imagery, and some of the character development sprinkled throughout. Just like the first book in the series, Blood Oath is a good book to pick up for fans of a short but fast-paced fantasy read. It definitely makes for a good palate cleanser between the emotionally damaging books many of us routinely indulge in.

This is not something I would normally read but I wanted to give it a try. My only regret, not reading the first book beforehand. This left me a bit confused and missing a lot of the back story. However, this wasn’t bad despite the confusion. I loved the main characters. They were very well written as was the story itself.
This book was intense with a lot of action and twists and turns.
This book was filled with magic and rituals and the main characters running to to Stop Malachai before things go from bad to worse.
This is definitely one that I will go back and read the first book and probably those that come next.

This is book 2 of the trilogy and Isla, Camilla, Ronan and Elias are all back to fight to save the the city of Manchester and probably the world from something so ancient and terrifying that was sealed away since, we’ll forever. Blood magic rituals are being performed to release this creature from its captivity.
This book kept me engaged wanting to know would Isla and the team succeed

I am ….. I am not sure what I am. It honestly was very hard to keep my attention and focus on what was happening.

I’m not saying it’s a bad book - I just feel like it’s such a fast paced fantasy that not everything is explained.

But once again, maybe that will be for book 3?

It’s a good book if you’re looking for something quick, fantasy, and fun.

The series picks back up from the ending of the 1st book. Fast paced, couldn’t read quick enough but yet again leaves us wanting to know how it’s all going to end? The characters are well written and the scenery is easy to visualise. Can’t wait for final installment. Recommend you read these books in order.
