A new issue 1 is hard to pass on when trying to assess how accessible comics are. This relaunch seems genuine due to the new creative team as opposed to a lot of Marvel books which receive "false" relaunches and are actually continuations of the previous books eg Thor, Fantastic Four, and the neverending Scarlet Witch books.
This feels even more like a fresh start, given Joshua Williamson is writing. This might be the first time he's worked for Marvel having spent this decade writing for DC and the GI Joe books.
To Williamson's credit, this doesn't feel like a DC book and feels very much like a 90s Iron man book. I'm specifically reminded of Busiek's "reborn" run where even the cast and loose plot feels similar. The back of the comic mentions Williamson is a long time Iron man fan and I genuinely wonder if he was a massive fan of the Busiek era.
The story feels a little safe besides the fun idea of trying to make another Tony Stark rather than another Iron man - think comic book "boys from Brazil". The last page however feels a bit tired in there being yet another heroes on hero plot potentially developing. It also feels confusing in a marvel universe way as a different combination of heroes (including Stark) are giving Bruce Banner a hard time - editorial needs to keep this in check. I'm also a bit worn out by heroes fighting amongst themselves and acting in secret cabals. This particular scene also felt a bit forced because unless this is a new iteration of the Avengers I'm unaware of, I'm not sure why this group of heroes and villains just happened to be standing together when receiving a call from Iron Man ? 🤷♂️
What I did like was a more classic Tony Stark instead of the RDJR impersonation that has been dominant since the first Iron man film was a success. Less quips, more suave billionaire playboy. Even the art depicts Tony as more of a Pedro Pascal crossed with Diego Luna inspired look. The art is of good quality and I look forward to more Iron Man moments as they seemed to shine. Once again the artwork reminded me of Sean Chen and Dan Panosian's runs on the title in the late 90-00s.
Will I be reading the next issue? I'm afraid not - there's nothing particularly wrong with the issue and I like the "make a new Tony Stark" idea but with a limited amount of time and a budget, it's outshone by other books I find currently more appealing.
I think this is a great choice for lapsed Iron Man fans as it doesn't seem too interested in the X-Men version from a few years ago and seems focused on Iron man's traditional cast and rogues. It's a must for those who miss the old school Busiek era and everything prior to Civil War/RDJR. Possibly because Williamson is new to Marvel, it doesn't feel locked into the past 5 years of marvel stories - how refreshing to read a marvel title not mentioning the fallout of "one world under Doom"!
It may be it takes a few issues to hit its stride (although Williamson has started strong with his "Superman" and "GI Joe" titles) in which case I'll keep track of reviews and maybe try again in future.

One heck of an opening issue. Good introduction of characters. Fun one-liners. Great action sequences. A final page that has me hooked and ready for issue two. The artwork was also really good. Very excited for more of this.

I was pretty excited about a Williamson Iron Man. I'm a fan of his work, and this seems like a passion project for him.
This was a very strong start. I wasn't blown out of my seat. But lots of really excellent things set up, including a supporting cast of characters. The art won me over as the book went on.
I hope Marvel lets Josh cook (versus a premature cancelation). That's where his strengths really shine.

This was a solid first issue for a new Iron Man series. It does a good job setting up the story and the stakes, and it’s refreshing to see Tony Stark back to being unapologetically Tony. For a while now, it has felt like Tony has been treated as a scapegoat within the Marvel Universe, constantly forced to apologize for who he is. This issue pushes back on that idea and lets him fully embrace himself again.
Of course, there is a problem to solve, one that Tony may have played a role in creating, but at this point it feels more like the villain is exploiting Tony’s brilliance rather than the story placing all the blame on him. This issue is very much about setting the stage. There isn’t a ton of depth yet, and it functions more as a reintroduction to Iron Man and Tony Stark than anything else.
The art is good, though I’m still waiting for something truly standout. That said, the hoverbike that transforms into an Iron Man suit was a great visual, and I loved the tech on display. It left me wanting more. For now, I’d recommend picking this up, but the real test will be where the series goes next. Nothing here is bad, but nothing is wildly impressive either.

Un número realmente "de enganche" para el lector. Ya de entrada ese maquiavélico juego metanarrativo de Joshua Williamson de parecer querer recontarnos de forma hiper vaga y canónica la génesis del personaje en el colmo de la introdución de nueva etapa revela una forma de amenaza total a Tony Stark que va más allá del propio pellejo del Vengador. Madame Masque se ha aliado con I.M.A. y sus planes parece que colocarána Tony como peligro público nº1 de la comunidad superheroíca.
Como digo, este Iron Man (2026) #1 se muestra totalmente dinámico y explosivo. Veremos si la cosa se mantiene. Pero de momento ya me han hecho sonreír con lo de introducir a Melinda May (mmmm, migajas para el fan de Agents of SHIELD, MMMMM) como superada guardaespaldas de Tony.

A solid start!
This time around instead of going after Tony his enemies are trying to either neutralize or capture people who could one day be his successor.
So far I like the lighter tone and the artwork, it evokes a feeling of early 2000s cartoons with the blend of campiness but also blunt danger and risk of death. It hasn’t pulled me in all the way but as someone who often doesn’t feel a desire to pick up Iron Man comics off the shelf I came away from this issue saying “That was good. Keep it up!”
The ending has me curious too and my inner child is reaalllly hoping it goes the route I think it’ll go.

Por curiosidad leí el primer número de la más reciente serie de Iron Man. Me sorprendí por el equipo creativo. Joshua Williamson, Carmen Carnero y hasta Ryan Stegman haciendo portadas. Y pues está okey! Me intrigaba el escritor, el personaje y dinámica es lo mismo de siempre pero veremos si la premisa se extiende a algo nuevo e interesante. Básicamente se contará el: “¿Qué pasa si Iron Man crea una “nueva arma” como lo hizo con su armadura?”
Veremos qué tal se desarrollará el 2. Así me iré, número tras número a ver qué tal se pone.

This just popped up on Unlimited, and I thought I’d give it a go as it’s a first issue, new start, should be able to get into it. While there are some lingering questions as someone not upto date on modern Marvel, overall it is accessible to new readers and I think I’ll keep it up. The artwork is fantastic, the action is cool (hoverbike to armour was a thrill) and the opening plot is really interesting.

An amazing new era
Incredibly intriguing and beyond expectations. It was a breath of fresh air needed and I am extremely excited to have my guy iron man back. Couldn't have picked a better writer to bring in a new era and couldn't have been a brighter start. Worth so much more than $5.99

Looks to be an exciting new beginning for Iron Man. Love that Madame Masque opens first issue, always one of my favorites. Looks like Pepper is not going to be just a damsel in distress, good. Looking forward to future issues.

This was a good first issue. Really roping me in with AIM wanting to recreate the new Tony Stark. And it looks like, oh what’s this? AN AMBUSH IN ISSUE 2 BY THE AVENGERS?!?! Very excited.
