New York Times bestselling author Tia Williams returns with an intensely romantic, deliciously sexy tale about a woman searching for her handsome seatmate on a European flight—and the unexpected places her hunt for love leads her.
Sasha Cruz knows types. As a booked-and-busy casting agent, she’s always casting—at happy hour, the grocery store, everywhere. She’s all about finding the perfect person to slot into the perfect role. What she doesn't do, however, is relationships. Too much energy, not enough time.
On a flight to Paris for work, a chance encounter with her type changes everything. Sasha’s seated next to a broodingly attractive mystery man, and sparks fly—but they never exchange contact information. Convinced she’s lost out on her soulmate, Sasha emails her work friend for help, but accidentally writes to the entire company worldwide! The international manhunt to find Seat F begins.
Meanwhile Sasha takes matters into her own hands. She hires a smoldering detective she knew in another lifetime—who complicates matters in unforeseen (and irresistible) ways.
With a worldwide search underway, will love take flight for Sasha?

theeeee romcom™ is back, baybeeeeeee! this was such a fun time if you don’t take it too seriously and lean into your whimsical side. it’s comedic, confounding and cautiously hopeful. just my cuppa, apparently. i need hollywood to wake up and get this into the studio schedule ASAP! this is what the girls (me) want to see on screen!!! tomorrow!
the story follows sasha cruz, a casting director who, while buzzed and xanax’d out on a flight because of her anxiety, has a memorable encounter with a handsome stranger. this all feels kismet after a palm reading in the airport lounge alluding to something like this happening to her 😂. she thinks she’s met the love of her life after a long drought…but these num-nums didn’t exchange names or contact information, so she’s left to try and track him down based solely off a physical description and the things that they talked about for clues as to who he might be. with no veritable sleuthing skills of her own, she seeks out some professional help.
cue wes“god forbid a black man pivot!”dane. he’s a former detective turned PI, having left all of that behind to be a business owner of a successful bbq food truck / unintentional thirst trap for more than just that brisket he be serving outta that truck. him and sasha have history™ after she used his agency’s services a few years back, but they haven’t seen each other since for reasons. desperate though, she all but begs him to help her find her airplane mystery man (affectionately dubbed “Seat F”)…and wes reluctantly agrees for his own complicated reasons.
of course, shenanigans ensue as these two embark on their present-day mission whilst navigating their past and this electricity thrumming between them.
something about this felt atypical, but also somewhat familiar in the best of ways. i laughed out loud, swooned, may have fanned myself a couple times 😮💨, but most of all, yeah, i cackled! i love when a romantic comedy actually comedies, in genuinely funny ways. there were so many quotes, paragraphs, damn, whole PAGES i could have added to this review or in status updates because some of the stuff in here was so hilarious 😅. tia williams has a handle on witty, modern humour that just hits! page after page after page! it’s easily the standout aspect of this read for me. so effervescent, i almost floated away while giggling 🤭.
sasha was so painfully relatable. i’m almost scared to point out all the ways how because 😂😂😂. let’s just say i’ve pulled that cubic-zirconia-fake-wedding-ring-for-protection stunt myself before, but we won’t go all the way into that. she’s a little head-in-the-clouds, but she’s also grounded when it matters. her self-sufficiency, optimism and whimsy balanced out her shade. she’s been through a lot and she’s a little agoraphobic and anxious for compelling reasons, and i loved watching her bloom across the book and challenge the boundaries of her comfort zone. i also liked how self-aware she was, particularly when it counted most. the book handled the darker side of her storyline really well and with enough levity, so as to not weigh down the romcom feel of the read but also convey just the right amount of emotion.
wes was just…fine as hell. period. he had no business being THIS hot. he was a bit frustrating towards the end of the book, but i’ll forgive a 6’4” protector who says things like ”i don’t want to spend sunday nights alone. i want to have a best friend who i’m desperate to fuck and feed and take care of and travel with and spend the rest of my life learning. i’d be lucky to find it.” this man was so astronomically down bad that he was willing to help sasha overcome her fears and find her happiness, even if it wasn’t with him. he thought he was physically sick. couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, that’s how gone he was for her 🥹. he had a very interesting character profile and backstory too, but i wish that one or two points around him were explored in a bit more depth. he was definitely layered though, even a little (realistically) morally grey, but he was a good guy. 🥹
these two were perfect for each other. both a little messy, but they just fit. their chemistry was so palpable and they had such great banter and organic conversational flow. i also really liked the fun mystery plot of the story in trying to find sasha’s stranger and the weird places it all led us to. the side characters in this were hilarious as well, especially sasha’s matchmaker bestie and wes’s reporter friend / ex.
the resolution was a little bit cheesy and rushed, and the second half had its flaws — ESPECIALLY because these two would nawt win any communication awards and the conflict around why they couldn’t be together got a bit repetitive. i just ended up rolling with it though. it did lead to some fun hijinks and ratcheted up the tension between them, so i wasn’t an entirely unhappy customer by any means BUT i did want to shake them a few times and tell them to end the madness 😂. they were cute though. and sexy 🙂↕️. sometimes, some gaffes are good vibes.
the book’s message came across to me that we often romanticize ideas and what-ifs to the point of absurdity, instead of looking at what’s right in front of us and making the best of seemingly imperfect situations — and i really liked that. i don’t know if that’s what was intended, but that’s how i saw it. i also really connected with the displays of the pains of adulthood. no one has their shit together 😂. it was refreshing to read.
overall, i found this to be thoroughly entertaining…so four stars for the laughs!
*3.5!! ⭐️✈️ tia williams books are always ridiculously readable! the writing is funny, fast paced, chemistry heavy, and just genuinely FUN to fly through ✨ i think she has such a distinct voice as an author and that’s what keeps me so invested every time.
with this one for me, i think the first half worked better than the second. once the romantic direction became obvious, the emotional conflict started feeling a little repetitive and i found myself wanting everyone to just admit the VERY obvious feelings they were having!!
overall though, this felt like the perfect “read on a flight or by the pool” kind of summer romance 💘 fun, sexy, and very bingeable even when the plot itself didn’t fully wow me.
p.s. thank you to Grand Central Publishing, Tia Williams, & NetGalley for the early copy! 💌
the most fun book to binge on a plane!!! i love “missed connection” stories so this plot was perfect—our MC meets an Italian hottie on a plane ride to Paris and doesn’t get his name/number and then hires a PI to help her find him bc their connection was off the charts.
but the PI is someone from her past… and there’s a LOT to unpack there 👀🔥
this was flirty, fun and creative. i’ve loved her writing since SEVEN DAYS IN JUNE and have read all her books, so i knew i was in for a fun treat. the banter between our MC and the PI was so fun. the romance in here is a slow burn but very believable. it also semi felt like a mystery novel at the end when you see what we learn about our Italian man 🤫
the side plots were also strong. i liked learning about the two MCs and their back stories and passions and goals and what they’ve overcome. i think i wanted more of that at the end—it felt like it was missing 1-2 chapters or a strong epilogue.
not much you won’t like in this one!! makes for a perfect travel or beach read this summer ☀️
4.5⭐️ This was ADORABLE🥰 We’re following Sasha in this one who has a seemingly mutual attraction with a stranger on a flight to Paris. Unfortunately she doesn’t get his name, and she is on the hunt to find “Seat F” after she lands. She reaches out to Wesley, a private investigator that she had dealings with in her past while going through a traumatic situation which caused her to isolate herself due to no longer trusting people. While working close with the P.I., a confusing yet organic connection blooms between the two leaving her wondering if finding Seat F is really worth finding after all. This was a perfect blend of an LOL fluffy rom-com, with some depth and spice, making this highly anticipated read so enjoyable. The only gripe I have with this one is that we spent waaaaay too much time trying to find this mystery man which left room for some slight miscommunication and missed on page time with Wes, the P.I. 🥰 But overall, I HIGHLY recommend! 🩷🕵🏽♂️✈️💺 Full vlog on this and others up now on my YouTube channel🤗
“You’re gonna experience a chance meeting that’ll set off a chain of events – events that’ll end in happily ever after.”
Could this airport palm reader’s prediction be the perfect catalyst to set these pages turning?
Afterall, isn’t it what Sasha, our main protagonist, secretly wants for herself? Because the alternative feels far worse:
“No one wants to die alone.”
And then…it happens – the chance encounter. The chain of events begins. Could that mysterious seatmate on the plane actually be The One? Or does fate have something else in store? (No spoilers from me.)
I fell in love with this author through “A Love Song for Ricki Wilde” even though she may be best known for her debut novel, “Seven Days in June.” If interested, review links below.
What I love about Williams’s writing is her propensity for creating electric chemistry, sharp banter and messy, yet relatable characters. Even with a few frustrating miscommunications, some repetition, and an ending that felt a bit rushed, it was still a joy to spend time between these pages.
Another Tia Williams hit!! The story follows Sasha, a 32-year-old casting consultant who has spent the last few years isolating herself following a traumatic experience. Her life takes a turn when she’s sent on a work trip to Paris, and finds herself seated next to a man she refers to as "Seat F."
Imagine meeting your potential soul mate in first class on a flight to Paris, speaking for six hours in an Ambien and alcohol induced haze, only to never get his name or contact information. Sasha and Seat F share an undeniable chemistry; it is just unfortunate that she has no idea who he is beyond a few cryptic clues. This leads Sasha to go to extreme lengths to find her mystery man, eventually enlisting the help of a detective, Wes with whom she shares a complicated history.
Williams’ writing is incredibly witty, and I loved the clever name drops and references that had me laughing out loud throughout the story. While the missed connection premise feels lighthearted on the surface, the author adds so much depth to Sasha and Wes. Both are beautifully flawed characters bonded by their past traumas, and their tension filled, instant chemistry, relationship felt very earned.
While I did find the end a little implausible when it comes in regard to Seat F, this was a quick and deeply enjoyable read that perfectly balanced book, with a mix of mystery, thrills, and romantic comedy.
Tia Williams is one of my favorite writers and can't wait to see what she thinks of next!!
This was such an interesting plot and i really enjoyed the set up and how it was brought about. The fmc meets the mmc on a flight and like the cover says they share a connection but don’t share each other’s contact. The fmc sets out to find him and that leads to them getting to know each other and building a friendship. There was so much tension, angst and that push and pull and the characters did that will they wont they dance. I often felt frustrated with all the miscommunication and there was a lot of it in the second half of the book. There was also a lot of obstacles and family drama that both characters had to overcome. The romance was cute and i was glad they finally got together. I have to say that this authors writing is really good and made the story more enjoyable. This my first book by this author and although this wasn’t my favorite read I definitely will be reading more of her books. Thanks to grand central publishing for this arc for an honest review!
tia williams is my love, i will read whatever she publishes because her past two adult novels are genuinely perfect. from the start i was excited for her 2026 release, was i slightly scared because i didn't read the synopsis correctly and i thought we would be on a plane for longer than one chapter, yes.. don't look at me, i'm embarrassed. other than plane anxiety, i was also a bit scared for a love triangle but the romance was handled very well so i never struggled with the trio. if anything, the third person added so much tension to the main romance and i was obsessed!
*spoilers about the romance from here on out*
if you're an author, and you need help writing chemistry, please read tia williams, or just this book, because wes and sasha had enough fire to light a city on fire. you could feel the tension in their relationship from their first interaction and i was eating it up. there is nothing i adore more than an angsty relationship between two people, and this book delivered. i honestly think the chemistry and sasha's character, saved the book for me. it pains me to say that i didn't fully love the side mystery plot but i understood why it had to be in the book. i just wanted to spend every page in this book with wes and sasha because they are stars.
i really do think people should go into this book blind, because i never really knew what was coming and i appreciated that. it was very clear from like the fourth chapter who sasha would end up with but i didn't care, yes i loved wes but i also was just happy to not worry about the love triangle and focus on how much i love sasha. her past is pretty terrifying and being able to read about her healing and see her be excited about life/work again was so amazing! wes was so protective of her and i couldn't help but swoon every time he spoke.
ending this review by mentioning the chemistry one more time.. HOLY SHIT!! the phone call??? hello??? i was dying. i do wish we saw more of the ending, this book could've used like twenty more pages after things were resolved and after the love confession. i loved the romance, and the added emails about other people falling in love was such a fun touch, but some of the seat f stuff lost me.
OH, how could i forget, a ricki wilde mention!!! this is what the people want to see!!!
Oof my heartttttt 😮💨💕 Tia Williams done did it again, but there should be no surprise there 🤭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The Missed Connection was an iconically unconventional love story, and I loved every second of it. This felt like the best kind of 2000s romcom tbh with the literal missed connections vibes mixed with the will they won’t they friends to lovers/forced proximity. I loved how Tia incorporated so much honesty and emotions as she usually does bc it took this funny af romance to the next level.
This romance highkey threw me for a loop in the beginning, but I thought it made the whole plot so refreshing and fun. I loved getting to know our actual main characters Sasha and Wes. I really came to love them equally as individual characters and as a couple. Sasha with her trauma and anxiety and Wes with his toxic family and need for redemption 😓 but the minute they’re in the same space they morphed into something so deep, safe and strong. Ugh!!!! Them 2 gave me everythiiiiiiiiing 😮💨💕 I adored all their angst and yearning so so much. Their chemistry was electric and their banter was consistently top tier funny. And watching them lose their grip on reality only to fall for each other all over again was one of the sweetest things I’ve read in a long time.
So thank you Tia for always writing what I need and renewing my love for romance with every book release. Also thanks for writing something for the anxious girlies. I really felt seen by this and I appreciated every ounce of wisdom she included in here 😮💨🙏🏽💕

Sasha meets a man on plane and experiences a "missed connection" when they separate without exchanging contact information. She didn't realize this one event would snowball into life changes for not only her but so many others.
This book gave me butterflies! I absolutely loved it! Sasha's story was relatable on many levels. The writing was beautiful. I felt like I was watching a movie! This story of perfectly flawed people finding love that is perfectly made for them. My heart!!
Thank you Grand Central Publishing for this Advance Readers Copy ebook in exchange for my honest review.
ARC READ- 4.25 ⭐️ I absolutely loved this book! It was an easy read and super fun! I loved Wes and Sasha’s relationship in every way! It wasn’t the slow burn that usually annoys me! It was fresh and definitely made me happy! I definitely recommend this book for a fun summer read! Thank you to the author for gifting me this book! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
4.5⭐️ I just love the way Tia Williams does romance! The banter, the twists, the mystery are all so good! Also, Wes might be second to Ezra with Tia’s MMCs 😍
Sasha is a casting director, and no man has ever so perfectly fit the role of her love interest as the man in seat F she meets on a long flight. Somehow, the two lose track of each other in the airport and she realizes they didn't exchange any information that could lead her to his whereabouts. In order to track down the mysterious Seat F, Sasha calls up Wes, a man she hired as a private investigator year before, and the two work together to find Sasha's suitor all while ignoring their mounting attraction.
This isn't my favorite of Tia Williams' book but, c'mon, the woman cannot write a bad romance. When I read the sample of this in Buzz Books, I knew I was going to eat it up, although I really thought until I read the book that Seat F would be the love interest. I always appreciate the focus on characters' individual struggles in Tia Williams' books, and both Sasha's experience trying to escape her self-isolation and Wes's struggle with his family definitely hit close to home for me. I like them together and the whole scenario of Wes being hired to find Seat F sets up some nice tension. I'm a little iffy on the ending. I kind of thought it was going to go a different way and I might have preferred that to the ending we got, especially because it ends really abruptly and I feel like we don't get a ton of clarity on how certain plot lines pan out.
Still, it was fun and hot and it's absolutely the perfect summer read! Can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this!
Thank you to Tia Williams and Grand Central Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my full, honest review!
If you loved the 1994 movie Only You starring a young Robert Downey, Jr. and Marisa Tomei, well then read this as soon as you possibly can, my friend.
An airport palm reading and subsequent missed connection on an airplane sets off a chain of events that will (hopefully) lead Sasha Cruz to her true love. Our girl's been through a lot, and overcome a lot, and she's finally starting to open back up to the world.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this story, but I had such a fun time reading it. This would've been a five-star, but the miscommunication toward the end (while understandable) got a little frustrating at a certain point.
Another hit from Tia Williams! YUP! This book was a lot of fun. Tia Williams is highkey one of the funniest authors. She gets literal laughs out of me whenever I read any of her books. It had the hijinks, humor, fun, and passion that we always get from her. I feel like Tia Williams literally writes books for me because while I don't necessarily need to relate to a character to enjoy a book, I always feel seen in her FMCs! While I didn't go through the things Sasha goes through in this book to get to where she was, I definitely felt like I was looking in a mirror. I loved her. She was so much fun. I loved seeing her growth and it honestly made me feel hopeful! I also loved Wes. His unwavering support for Sasha was EVERYTHING! Even despite the circumstances. I was so ready for them to GET REAL through the book, but I also loved the push and pull. Something about it was so riveting for me. It was a lot fun. I was entertained for the entirety of this book!
While I think all of Tia Williams' books are adaptable, I think of all of her books this one is the most adaptable. We need this like yesterday. Who do I need to get on the line!?!
Thank you SO much to Grand Central Publishing for the ARC!
Tia Williams is always an auto-read author for me so I was excited for this new release from her. This one ended up being just okay. From the blurb I thought it was going in a different direction than it actually did.
This starts off fun though! Sasha is on a plane to Paris and has a connection with a guy, aka Seat F, on her flight. They end up going their separate ways after the airport and she’s determined she needs to see him again as she feels like he could be her soulmate. She accidentally sends out a mass email trying to get help in finding her mystery man and even involves a detective’s help.
Once I realized where this book was actually going I just wasn’t as into the direction it took. The audio was fast-paced at least but this one just didn’t hit for me and the ending/reveal of the entire plot (being vague purposefully) felt over-the-top for me. I’ll continue to read this author, but I definitely recommend Seven Days in June and A Love Song for Ricki Wilde over this new release.
This was everything I love about a Tia Williams romance: witty, undeniable chemistry, characters you can't help but root for, and funny. It was such a fun read that had me smiling. My only wish is that the ending had given us a little more but I had such a good time getting there that I didn't mind too much. Sasha is also VERY relatable and I loved Wes. A perfect rom-com to toss in your beach bag for the summer!!!
I really wanted to like this more than I did. One of my favorite parts about romance as a genre in general is you can get so creative and outlandish with a hook that really draws you in. A woman having a missed connection on a flight and hiring a precious love interest who is also a private detective to find him? Outlandish, interesting, and fun! The first half was super strong and I was loving the connection between the characters and moving between past and present. But the second half really fell apart for me. Sooooo much miscommunication and will they won’t they. I also feel like the author tossed in a bunch of big issues at the end with the male lead that were ultimately unresolved (daily drinking, family problems, poor self esteem, etc) that don’t leave you feeling confident about the viability of the couple in the future. And the ending wrapped up so quick! I didn’t even really get to enjoy the conclusion before it was over. Tia William’s writing still made this an enjoyable reading experience, but it definitely had a lot of aspects I tend to not enjoy in a romance novel.
Thank you to grand central publishing and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I had been waiting for the release of this book since Tia Williams announced it last year on her book tour. Just with a few sentences that she mentioned about this book I was captivated and couldn’t wait till it came out. I waited over a year for this book and devoured it two days after its release date. This book felt like an early 2000s rom com that had me kicking my feet and twirling my hair. Tia you outdid yourself with this one. I enjoyed every second of it and feel inspired after reading this book.🦋
