Alan Connor is a British writer, journalist and television presenter. First seen on Channel 4's youth entertainment programme The Word in 1995 he later appeared on The Big Breakfast and BBC Radio Five Live and was a BBC News correspondent, appearing on BBC News 24 and The Daily Politics.

His scriptwriting credits include the comedy-drama A Young Doctor's Notebook, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Jon Hamm.

Connor has worked as a writer for programmes including Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe, The Jonathan Ross Show and This Week and writes journalism for BBC News and The Guardian.

i had so much fun with this! i only wish rob rausch was in this.

this sooo took me back to reading choose your own adventure books as a kid. i really liked seeing the different choices and how long some of the passages were. it really made it feel like an actual story.

the only thing i didn’t like were all the group themed games, i don’t read a book aloud with a group of people so why would i pause and then go find 4 friends to play a game from a book with? that just felt off to me. i thought the logic puzzle ones were fun though! much like the show, missions are kinda pointless since the book relies on you getting to the next day to advance the plot or whatever.

i was kinda bummed to get picked as a faithful at first but i was very happy to be recruited and i thought that was when the book got to be really fun

🧃 why I picked it up:
Because I loved the idea of it being interactive and puzzle-like, and I was curious to see how it would work as a book.

🎭 genre + vibes:
mystery, mind-game, playful, slightly chaotic, creative

💭 before → after:
I expected a proper puzzle book where you solve things step by step → it felt much more like an exciting prompt to build your own version of the story.

✨ things I loved:
– how interactive it is and how much it lets your imagination take over
– the feeling that you’re not just reading, you’re actively involved
– how different everyone’s experience of this book could be

🌧 things that didn’t fully work:
It’s sold quite strongly as a puzzle book, and I don’t think that fully matches what it actually is — go in expecting creativity more than clear-cut puzzles.

🕯 stuck-with-me moment / thought:
How freeing it felt to stop looking for “right answers” and start making up my own story instead.

The Traitors (the show), interactive books, creative thinking, or stories where you get to fill in the gaps.

🍰 final feelings:
Not what I expected, but in a really fun way — this felt less like solving and more like playing, and I think that’s where it shines.

This was a bit of fun, but I had two main problems with it, one, that your chances in the game seems based on luck, the choices seemed quite arbitrary, so it wasn't like you could work out the right answer, it you'd earned it if you won, it seemed quite random. Secondly, it had lots of bonus games and 'missions' but they were all group games, and books are a solo activity, I was hoping for more brain teasers, puzzles etc but they were almost all ideas for card games with four plus people,some good ideas, but useless to me in the moment. But it was still fun to read, I enjoyed making the decisions and playing along, I'd still recommend to a traitors fan.

This book is amazing! I got this for Christmas and finished it on the 27th as it’s just so damn good. I’m not even mad that it’s finished because I can reread and reread this book over and over again. 5 stars!

A fun adventure book for Traitors fans, although after a few goes through it does get quite repetitive. The games are best for small groups rather than by yourself. If you have some people around for a party then this would be fun for a few hours. It was decent enough.
