1975 Ghost Town Publications trade paperback, 11th printing. Randall A. Reinstedt (Tales and Treasures of California's Missions). The book covers California's shorline from Pescadero Reef to the north (San Mateo County), to the Big Sur promontory of Pfeiffer Point to the south (Monterey County). There are stories of more than 40 shipwrecks (including the airship MACON) and the tales of strange beasts that inhabit the Submarine Canyon of Monterey Bay. - biblio.com.au
A short and concise book on some of the more well-known wrecks around the Monterey Bay area. The section on "sea monsters" covers a little of the lore/legends of the area, and offers only speculation on what could be in the Monterey Bay canyon.
I enjoyed this book but I mainly wanted to read about sea monsters and the majority of the book is about shipwrecks. I'd say the section on sea monsters is about 10% of the book. Oh well, an interesting read anyway.
