Some books should never leave Wattpad.
This story was shallow, embarrassing, and painfully disappointing. The mmc was utterly repulsive I genuinely hated him. His personality was empty, selfish, superficial, and unbearably arrogant. His constant crude language and verbal abuse toward the FMC were exhausting and disturbing, especially since she kept allowing it without any meaningful resistance or growth.
As for the fmc she is supposedly a psychologist, yet she displays neither intelligence nor professional insight. Her behavior was naive to the point of absurdity, making her role completely unbelievable. There was no depth, no critical thinking, and no emotional realism in her character.
The relationship dynamics were toxic, poorly written, and romanticized in a way that felt irresponsible rather than dark or complex.
Honestly, I don’t even have the energy to properly criticize that’s how draining this book was.. it felt like a complete waste of time.

First of all, huge thanks to the author for the arc. I really appreciate it! 💖
I’m Sorry Princess gave me everything I crave in a dark romance: a possessive, toxic morally grey mmc. in other words, exactly my type 🥲
I devoured this book in one sitting because who needs sleep 😭 But seriously, that ending was absolutely cruel. I need book two, like, yesterday.

DNF’d. Takes A LOT for me to hate a book. I read purely for vibes but I couldn’t get behind this book.

1) the writing style was giving wattpad and I could’ve looked past this since this was the author’s first book. At the end of the day, everyone starts somewhere and I can see her improving…. That being said….

2) HATED the mmc and him being a slut…. So unnecessary and how he uses and discards the women he sleeps with. You can’t ask them to give you BJ’s AND get them off?! DETESTED it….

3) the insta lust through me off and I DID NOT LIKE IT ALL. SHES supposed to be a psychologist and know confidentiality laws and the moment she leaves the jail she calls her friend and tells her who the client is and what happened??? BFFR!!?!?!?

I can see the author improving her writing style but just couldn’t see past the mmc, him being a slut, the insta lust etc etc. I couldn’t handle how bad this boon was. Wish I liked it.

DNF, I went in without any safety info and that was a mistake. He gets a BJ from a psychologist (and it’s not the first time). I was really intrigued until that scene. Such a shame because it was so unnecessary.

I gasped. Lorenzo and Serena’s story was like a roller coaster that broke my heart.💓 It was crazy how he switched his emotions like a switch. My girl truly deserves the world and beyond and I hope she gets it🥺 The best book I have read in 2025. Like it was truly written to perfection and I can’t wait too eat up the next book😝

3 ⭐ I feel this was exactly what was needed after being in a bit of a reading slump.

The story starts with the FMC Serena landing a new job as an FBI physiologist, only to find her first patient is Lorenzo the MMC, deadly and the powerful head of the Mafia.

Serena didn’t grow up in a loving home. She spent her entire life trying to please her family, and beneath it all, she yearns to be truly loved. She escapes reality through reading books and writing her own where the men would literally burn the world for the ones they love.

The spice was spicing and there are soooo many questions!! The balance between spice and plot is just right. The book ended on a cliffhanger and I desperately need book two now! I also hope we get more of Siennas story in book two, or at least a separate book about her!

Thoroughly enjoyed!

very wattpad style writing, lots of unnecessary mentions of other characters and unnecessary details about trivial things, very poor character building and development.

Wow. Who doesn’t love themselves a good dark romance. I was hooked on Lorenzo from the start. Good lord that man is hot as fuck. I need the next book ASAP. This book isn’t too dark in my opinion but it might be for others- everyone has different opinions. If you’re looking for something spicy with a bit of a plot alongside it then this book is for you. But that cliffhanger though… where the hell is the next book at?

loved the plot ideas but some of it was very intense and honestly just didn’t fit my expectations of the book. great read and would recommend regardless - had so much more potential for the love dynamic and also the psychologist prison scenes

the mmc cringes me out so much. it’s literally giving wattpad but i’ve read better books on there than whatever this was. whenever he opened his mouth it was always the same shit because what’s with all the “im lorenzo moretti and im better than you” bs. i thought this story had potential, the fmc didn’t interest me that much but i wanted to see how her character would develop and change after starting her new job. but then she falls for him after seeing him for the first time, he literally insults her to her face and then asks if she was wearing any underwear, like what????

This book was gripping, that's for sure. I didn't care for Serena nor did I like her specifically for the first half of the book because of her lack of braincells for a psychologist (which btw she proved to be unfit for, considering she got the job because of her father's connection but even if she "earned it" like she said she should've, she wouldn't last a day based on her lack of professionalism that she couldn't even properly fake for 2 seconds) and her lack of personality along with her suffering from body betraying syndrome.

Her friends, Sienna primarily, and the eldest daughter of a pakhan are some female side characters who showed more characteristics of heroines I like in my mafia books. Suffice to say, Serena is too meek for my taste.

For the first half of the book, every interaction that Serena and Lorenzo (H) have - all ends up in them fucking each other without any substantial conversation. So I was not invested in them as much.

However, things turned better after the 50% mark, they became humans who can have conversations and get to know each other instead of animals in heat. Things turned into a fun kinda chaos when bromances and other side characters started pulling up shenanigans I got heavily amused with.
Andres & Sienna, Lev & Clara, whoever Alisa ends up with, who Lucy is, I'm so much more interested in all of this, these characters are strong in the truest sense of word so they show potential.

This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I'm so excited to jump in book 2 because FINALLY I can see what these two are about when they're not in bed. I love it when the characters have it all out in the open, they're in an established relationship and something goes wrong, at least we are past the stage of them being in denial about their feelings.

DNF chapter 12.
Snippets of this book I saw on TikTok seemed good, but the mmc just spoilt it for me. He’s cringe, & way too playboy for me.

Firstly there is way too much over explaining of the fmcs trauma and friendships within the first few chapters. At first it was like oh okay sounds good. Then it was like urgh okay we get it you’re sad, you don’t get on with your parents and your friends get everything they want. Great. But then it kept going on and it was just unnecessary mentioning.

The mmc is just overly cringe. He gives rich, arrogant playboy who thinks he can get anyone he wants because he’s a big bad mafia boss. Please.

Then I got to the first real smut scene between characters. Way too quick. No flirting, enemies to lovers, no build up. He bends her over (his psychologist btw— they’ve barely talked let alone properly met) and sp*nks her. Like wtf. That sounds hot but actually it was just wattpad cringe. I just hate the lack of consent. And Idc about trigger warnings but when I read a dirty romance book I want build up, real plot, spicy, forbidden but in the right context. The fact he was one big ick made it worse.

This was definitely a gripping read, no doubt about that. But Serena? I just couldn’t warm up to her—at least not in the first half. For someone who’s supposed to be a psychologist, she came across as surprisingly clueless. The fact that she got her position through her father’s connections didn’t help, but even if she insists she earned it, her lack of professionalism made that hard to believe. She barely managed to hold it together for even a moment, and overall, she just felt flat as a character.

Interestingly, the side characters stood out far more. Sienna, especially, along with some of the other women in the story, had the kind of strength and presence I usually look for in mafia romances. Compared to them, Serena felt too passive and underwhelming.

Another issue for me early on was the dynamic between Serena and Lorenzo. Their interactions seemed to revolve almost entirely around physical attraction, with very little meaningful conversation. Because of that, I found it hard to get invested in them as a couple.

That said, things really started to improve after the halfway mark. The characters began to feel more layered, actually talking and connecting rather than just reacting to each other. The story also took on a more entertaining, chaotic energy once the side characters and their relationships came into play. The bromances and subplots added a lot of fun, and I found myself far more interested in characters like Andres and Sienna, Lev and Clara, and even the mysteries surrounding Alisa and Lucy. They brought a stronger, more compelling energy to the story.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, and surprisingly, I’m genuinely excited to pick up the next one. Now that the main couple seems to have moved past the initial stage, I’m curious to see how they function in a more established relationship—especially when things inevitably go wrong. That’s always the part I enjoy most: when the feelings are out in the open and the real challenges begin.

im hot and bothered after reading this book

I went in with low fucking expectations and my mind was blown ngl. I would call this your typical mafia book but with a great twist.

Lorenzo & Serena

Lorenzo can get it!! I can picture this man so clearly in my head he feels so real to me idgaf 🤪. The curly hair and blue eyes are a great touch ngl. Lorenzo is mysterious yet mischievous, grumpy yet charming like this man has range thats all i gotta say. This man was so like “ i dont do feelings” and the next he was pouring his heart out to his woman and confessing his love for her lol 😂 Serena at the start of this book was so damsel in distress vibes but after lorenzo you get to see her colours shine. Im hoping she will have a character development in the second book but this is already good enough for me. Her standing up to her parents got me cheering like a football fan ngl 😂😭

I went in blind with this book and its my fault should’ve done my research and now im left with a fucking cliffhanger 😭. I didnt understand why they were stretched some scenes out now i get it cuz its a duet 💀 like i didnt get it how they have this software thing called “lucy” literally hacked into the fbi but still couldnt figure out the motive behind the bad guys. I thought it was gonna be a cute lil argument about the fake engagement but oof that small fire turned into a big one real quick. Im down to read the second book if its out now 😂

10/10 would recommend daddy lorenzo can get it 🙂‍↕️

When I say I want to read a mafia romance, this is what I mean. I devoured this book. I absolutely loved every bit of it. Lorenzo is such a possessive asshole, I'm in love with him. Is he toxic as f*ck? It's a mafia romance, you already know the answer to that question.

Lorenzo is one of the mafia bosses, and he's trying to find the people who killed his father. He ends up in a relationship with Serena due to circumstances that I would normally find unacceptable, but which I found okay here.
Serena is your nepo baby, "rich girl but grew up in a horrible home" FMC. But I found her cute and ultimately quite endearing. I hope she achieves her dreams in volume 2.

I'm writing this review right after finishing the book, so I may not be very coherent, but this is hands down one of the best mafia romances I've read in a long time.

The book ends on a cliffhanger, and I'll be reading volume 2 on day 1, along with all the volumes after that (Sienna and Andres? Sign me up!).

I knew this book was going to be terrible but I wanted to know why

- Serena is an actual loser. She has no purpose in life or backbone. What’s the point of making her a psychologist if she hates it and she’s not good at it. All she does it go out it’d be more fitting if she was made to be a stripper
- there’s more text dedicated to describing what everybody is wearing than there is dedicated to world building or character development
- Lorenzo sees her and immediately decides that she belongs to him despite not seeing her as a human being
- I love red flagged book men but they need to have redeeming traits that make them lovable. Lorenzo is an arrogant asshole that doesn’t do anything special for the female lead

There’s plenty of red flagged mafia men out there with fun stories. This is so boring

Let me startttt:

1. I loved the chemistry between the characters. I felt it since their first interaction and I completely LOVED IT.
2. I like their push and pull and how he tries to hate her but in the end he just falls harder.
3. I relate with the FMC. I like how she is real, has mental health issues, struggles with anxiety and tries to be better and follow her dreams.
4. I loved the action. The book it’s not boring and it keeps you hooked.
5. I loved the side characters. Sienna and Andres I want your book next!!!
6. Ends in a cliffhanger 😭😭 I just want the second book as soon as possible.
7. Loved the breakup and how she teases him at the end with Lev and Sienna.
8. AMAZING PLOT.
9. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
10. I need more books from this author.

This is a dark, obsessive dynamic between Lorenzo and the female lead, where power, guilt, and attraction drive the relationship. The story leans heavily into the possessive-antihero trope, with Lorenzo as a dominant, morally grey character whose control and devotion blur the line between protection and obsession. The plot mixes emotional tension with very explicit romance, and the relationship unfolds through angst, trauma, and complicated loyalty.

I actually liked this one, but wow, it was VERY spicy. Lorenzo seriously gave big-dick-energy the entire time. He’s one of those dominant, obsessive male leads that just takes over every scene he’s in. The story also had some emotional moments that honestly pulled at my heartstrings, which balanced out all the spice. It wasn’t just smut, there was real tension and sadness layered into the story that made the relationship feel heavier. Now I’m really eager for book 2 because I need to see where their story goes next.

2.5 stars. Sometimes there were some cringey Wattpad-like lines, but it was minimal enough for me to handle. We really need to stop putting those “I’ll kill any man who ever touches you” lines into the MMC’s first love confession, like please… no. Just stop.
It’s not my favorite, but I’ll give the second one a chance because I want to know what happens next after the cliffhanger. I just hope it stays interesting enough for me to actually finish it.
Maybe I only like FMCs when they have a mouth on them and really talk back. Serena is a sweetheart, but I wanted more personality from her. She’s supposed to be this smart, educated woman, yet we only get small glimpses of her work, where she doesn’t really do much and we don’t see her take initiative. And the MMC, Lorenzo… is kind of meh. 🫤

Cliffhanger…but….

I loathe cliffhangers. Especially when not announced. Real life is hard man; we live for your stories. But, I’m a lifer in reading. I hope the author knows that while I’m a total no-body, I am probably her intended audience and could-be her biggest fan. Announce your intentions, we’re here for you! I want to see where we go next with this story. If you need an unofficial (arc reader) fan, with nothing but an incredibly strong desire escape reality and venture into your dream world...please release the next book. There’s a flock of “me’s” that’s waiting and salivating. Heart you girl. Do not leave us on the cliff.
