Ich hatte nicht allzu viel erwartet, da ich nicht der größte Fan von Endzeit Geschichten bin aber Quarantäne hat mich vollkommen überzeugt.

90% der Menschheit wurde durch ein mysteriöses Virus hingerichtet. Mehr als um die Pandemie selbst geht es hier aber um die Auswirkungen und das Leben danach. Vor allem ums Überleben und um zwischenmenschliche Beziehungen.

Eigentlich liest man zwei Geschichten. Einmal das organisierte Leben von Lori und ihrer Familie, die in einem Camp leben und arbeiten. Und dann von Devin, der sich durch das verlassene Land kämpft und sowohl Feinde als auch Verbündete findet.

Beide Stränge sind interessant, unterhaltsam und beängstigend, scheinen aber nichts miteinander zu tun zu haben. Klar gibt es ein paar Schwächen, die nehmen der Geschichte aber nichts.

Die Spannung steigert sich und zum Ende hin hat es mich richtig gefesselt. Die Endzeit Stimmung ist konstant da und ich freue mich schon die anderen Teile der Trilogie zu lesen.

A very good first attempt at storytelling. The story is exciting, the tempo or pace of the book is great. I finished it in three sittings. I found the characters in the book very likable and fleshed out for me. It left me wanting to continue when I finished it. I applaud this debut novel. Good stuff for this genre. It will satisfy anyone who enjoys apocalyptic action.

Das Cover hat mich sehr angesprochen und auch die Idee der Story, doch leider war es am Ende nicht meins.

Der Schreibstil erinnert mich an einen Jugendlichen, der eine Geschichte ohne wirkliche Details runterschreibt. Einfach zu schnell und schon zu locker für so ein Thema.

Die Charaktere sind auch nicht wirklich spannend für mich gewesen und somit war es mir ziemlich egal was mit ihnen passiert.

2.5 stars. Not great but I thought it improved a bit toward the end. I listened to this book and part of what I didn't like was the narrator's voice when he performed the female roles--it sounded creepy and wrong to me, especially the main character, Lori--I'm cringing just recalling it. I only bought this because it was a bargain on Audible--I won't be continuing with the series.

This was a mixed bag of a book, first of a series. The premise was OK, though not all that original with a pandemic that is later not what it seems. It also skips from a frightening start of the sickness to where it has decimated the population by about 90%. The nefarious leaders both in the "camps" and in the towns are pretty one-dimensional and cliche. I would think cannibalism would be a very last resort if ever, but not for some midwestern towns I guess. There were a few editing issues (using their instead of they're etc), but overall that was decent. The dialogue was a problem. It was stiff in spots and sometimes run-on with back and forth between characters with no cues and it was hard to tell who was saying what. The characters themselves were a problem as well. The Denver/Arcadia/camp story is actually important to the overall book and we learn about the true nature of the virus (though how these idiots managed it is a mystery). However, that part is very let down by Lori, the main character there. She is vapid, shallow, erratic and at the same time, boring and predictable. Travis the Marine has potential as do the Scraps groups who are probably not what they seem; we don't get much of either in this book. Devin is nearly useless at the start. Who stays in a barn instead of a house just because you don't want to bury your family members. It takes a stranger to goad him into showing respect. He has no skills etc though he does improve a bit at the end, mostly compared to others. Tess is a decent character, but she has no doubts about much of anything and is on the one-dimensional side as well. They are surrounded by a plethora of one-dimensional and appallingly horrible raiders and slavers. I'm kind of curious about what happens next but am not sure I can sit through anymore pages with Lori.

I am not one to leave reviews but it seemed like this book receive some weird feedback. This is my first review, and all that I have to say is that I personally loved the book. All the comments seem so negative, and they explain how the characters are one dimensional. I have an extremely overactive imagination and therefore I love how there is minimal details to the characters because I am then able to build my own characters in my mind. I hate books where the characters are over detailed because I get too bored with the story. Honestly I have never finished reading a book as fast as I have finished this one. The cliffhangers are amazing, I actually love the details and names of the weapons and aircrafts because it forms nice images. The way the story is written is how any average person would act during something like this. I love how there isn't a "superhero," but average people (some with military training). The author was a Marine and I felt like he included a lot of his own experience into the story. I love the double stories, and I NEED the next book!!

The 1st Novel Of A Self Induced Virus To Control The World By Killing 75% If The Population

NEW has penned a novel about a random asteroid that hits the U.S. In the central part of the country. When this occurs the world governments implement a plan to reduce the planet's population by 75%. A home grown virus is given to the public and only those DNA's that the new world leaders have are immune. This is an excellent read for the genre. This is a series in a long line of different series about apocalypse's. A SyFy is in the imagination of the author and this author fits right in with the rest of the SyFy authors.

I wanted to like this novel. I thought it would be fun to see how the author would tell the story about how survivors figure out how to survive after a pandemic kills 90% of all humans.
The novel can be best described by using the words of one of the characters in the novel, “tinfoil-hat-wearing conspiracy theorist” nonsense. But even if one were to try to suspend judgment vis-à-vis the conspiracy theories, the characters don’t make sense. In one chapter one character is noble and good and in the next a villain, another is an unresourceful coward in one chapter and in the next is a sharpshooter, etc.

An utter disappointment.

Didn't finish, but it is a good story. I almost finished just for the story. But the characters just seemed so very naive and the dialogue stilted. Maybe because it was written in German and translated to English? I don't know. Just couldn't stay with it. Also I do agree that the 90% death rate which correlates to a 10% survival rate would have left many many people still alive. Not believable. Sorry, good story line, bad characterizations. I gave it three stars for the story.

Well thought through

This book was a very nice read, only thing I don't like is when books are series, kind of a tease. I avidly read Imajica from start to finish, hoping for a sequel whereas I know there are at least 2 more books till I get the full story. That being said the groundwork has been done and they players cast, can't wait to find out what happens next.

Stories of two people immune from a viral outbreak that has killed 90% of earths population. I had tried this book once upon a time last year, but wasn't in the mood evidently. On second attempt it's not too bad, the characters are fairly interesting, but not engaging. I may follow up with the next two books; I'll have to ponder this. I really liked it...

In spite of my dislike for book 1 of any thing this caught my interest. Fast paced with interesting characters and very easy to read. A little bit of terminus for walking dead fans and a lot of Denver airport for conspiracy buffs. I am starting book 2. Damn you trilogys, but thank you kindle unlimited.

I truly enjoyed the story from the gory and gritty to government conspiracy. I read this book upon recommendation from G. Michael Hopf and I was not disappointed in the least. The book left me wanting more, next book is delayed?, but I should have it within the week. I wish I had ordered them all at once!

I'd give the plot 3 stars, and the writing 2 stars. The story itself is pretty good, and it moves along without getting bogged down. However the characters are a bit one-dimensional and it was hard to care what happened to them for this reason.

I liked the steady, risky pace of the story. There was always something around every turn of the page! It has completely believable characters.
