It goes without saying, although I have indeed said it and am about to say it again, but all slice-of-life stories are not cut from the same loaf. There’s a difference within the genre as to what they achieve.
Hirayasumi is a particularly wonderful example because it remembers to be about life more than the slice. What I mean is that it remembers to reflect on the lives of its characters rather than play up their situation.
This story is constantly in motion and isn’t strictly contained to a particular thing. As more characters have been drawn into Hiroto’s orbit, we’ve spread the focus much wider and these are all, to the last, interesting characters.
But, even if you don’t care about one particular aspect, you can just give it a chapter and it will have moved on to something entirely different that you might be more interested in.
And the various personalities are so fun to see play off one another. The nebulously defined love triangle between Hiroto and Yomogi and Ishikawa continues to be a bit of a mess in some fun ways.
Largely because Hiroto and Ishikawa ended up becoming friends and have a heck of a great time hanging out together, right until their love lives come up and Ishikawa realizes they’re both interested in the same person. It’s awkward and Hiroto completely puts his foot in it without even realizing.
Yomogi only has a brief appearance where she ends up taking a holiday for a change and that ends up being a surprisingly affecting chapter. The parts where she is reminded of both men is clever, but it’s her writing a wedding speech that gives it some real heft and emotion. The ending is note perfect.
A lot of the volume centres around Natsumi and her trials with trying to become a manga artist. Nat’s struggles have been a fantastic example of the story playing a long game, yet remembering to pay off a little along the way.
Despite Nat not liking Nakajima at the start, the two have really bonded by the end of the volume and it’s a very sweet development as they share their strengths with one another. The reveal of Nakajima having a girlfriend was also a quiet testament to her relationship with Nat and the subtle nod to Nat being a good ally later was great.
This series gets the passage of time and how life moves better than so many I’ve read. It helps that it’s got nothing to do with high school, but the situations these people find themselves in are always in flux.
We say goodbye, for now, to Hiroto’s best friend, Hideki, who is going to take over the family business after finding himself miserable in Tokyo. His wife really captures that spirit of being okay moving on from what you thought you wanted, and the farewell is very heartfelt.
Reiterating on the same idea is not inherently bad, but it has limitations. This manga casts such a wide net and then does so much with what that net encompasses that it becomes something truly special. It keeps a toe in the past, but is always aware that staying there isn’t possible.
5 stars - it’s a quiet sort of excellence, but this truly gets the idea of being alive and what that actually means. Fantastic.

I have no idea how this man manages to write about the most important things in life in such a way that moves me to tears every single time.
This chapter’s focus on friendship and how we see each other has felt so real and meaningful, especially if you have a friend that is moving away or someone who you admire and look up to.
I only wish that more people could experience reading this story and it’s amazing art.

Quand je referme un tome pareil, je me dis que c'est pour ça que j'aime tant les tranches de vie : de la simplicité, de l'émotion, de la justesse. Tout y est !
Avec cette couverture nostalgique d'Hiroto et son ancienne meilleure amie du 3e âge, le ton est donné. Ce sera un tome de partage, de convivialité, d'amitié. Keigo Shinzo a tout compris et nous offre à travers ces histoires on ne peut plus banales des condensés d'émotion purs du quotidien, un quotidien sublimé sous sa plume.
Cela va dans ce tome de notre fil rouge, Natsumi, qui après avoir été accidentellement blessée, retrouve le feu pour créer et trouve enfin le chemin pour être publiée. Cela passe par Hiroto bien sûr et ses histoires de coeur irrésolues mais qui ne sont qu'un des problèmes de sa vie avec son meilleur ami qui s'en va et le nouveau qui semble bien étrange après sa déclaration. Et puis il y a aussi ceux qui gravitent autour d'eux, de notre cher Minimaliste qui réalise qu'il n'est pas le seul dans le coeur de sa belle, en passant par notre Agente immobilière qui avait décidément bien besoin de souffler, sous oublier les amis de fac de Natsumi qui ont chacun leur problème : de couple pour les uns, de création pour une autre.
Tout est frais, gentil, avec des personnages solaires. L'auteur enchaîne les moments de grâce dans ce tome, rendant l'éphémère, l'instant, unique. Cela peut être une chute inattendue, une soirée d'au-revoir, un dernier moment de complicité avant le changement, une journée entre copines, un moment solitaire dans une source d'eau chaude, etc. On sent combien ils sont bien, seuls ou à plusieurs. On sent combien leurs échanges comptent même les plus banals. On sent combien la vie est belle, sans fioriture, sans en faire trop, juste la vie simple. C'est un si beau message et cela appelle vraiment à regarder notre vie autrement.
Pur moment de délice encore, Hirayasumi est vraiment la quintessence du manga tranche de vie : des personnages solaires auxquels on peut s'identifier, des moments de la vie courante sublimés par l'auteur et plein plein de sentiments positifs pour s'en sortir dans la vie. J'ai été émue par le tournant que connaissent Hiroto et Natsumi ici. L'auteur nous offre une façon alternative unique de voir la réussite dans la vie. Cela fait réfléchir et ça touche.

Un tome que j'attendais avec impatience ! Hirayasumi c'est toujours une pause bienvenue dans notre quotidien effréné. Toutefois dans ce tome la magie n'a pas prise pour moi. J'aime toujours quand Keigo Shinzo prend son temps et je n'attends jamais forcément un énorme avancement dans l'histoire mais cette fois j'ai trouvé qu'on faisait vraiment du surplace. Rien n'avance pour personne et je n'ai pas l'impression que le tome apporte quoi que ce soit pour aucun des personnages. A l'exception de la relation Natsumi et Reina dont j'adore la naissance et le développement de leur amitié et les confidences qu'elles se livrent. Mis à part ces passages je n'ai rien trouvé de spécialement touchant qui pourtant m'animent à la lecture : Hiroto et Hideki (rien de bien transcendant ni touchant cette fois-ci), Yomogi la grande absente de ce tome parce qu'elle prend enfin le temps de se reposer toutefois j'ai trouvé qu'ici c'était juste un prétexte pour qu'elle ne choisisse pas entre ces deux prétendants et non pas qu'elle est troublée par ce choix à faire, Madame Hanaé également est assez peu évoquée dans ce tome (même si j'ai trouvé très intéressant qu'on montre qu'elle disparaît peu à peu de l'esprit de Hiroto et que cela le trouble) ou même Hiroto n'a que très peu de moment sur lui même et ses questionnements.
C'est pour moi le tome le moins intéressant de la série pour le moment mais je suis persuadée que Keigo Shinzo saura nous offrir des futurs volumes forts en émotions !

Niente da fare: ogni volta che Shinzo mette in scena l’amicizia tra Hiroto e Hideki mi commuovo, maledetto Keigo.
Approfondiamo l’amicizia tra Yamada e Oorui (Shin per gli amici)
Ishikawa capisce che lui e Hiroto hanno una cotta per la stessa persona (Yomogi), ma non trova il coraggio di rivelarglielo.
La parte centrale vede come protagonista Yomogi, in vacanza in un centro termale ma non smette di pensare ai due spasimanti.
Akari confessa a Yamada di volersi trasferire in Germania dopo la laurea

Mình háo hức quá nên đã đọc raw một lèo hết tập 9, chắc là đang ở giữa giữa tập 10. Chừi ưi, manga vẫn dễ thương như vậy!!!!
Mà đang dừng lại ở đoạn Tachibana được Hiroto tỏ tình lần nữa chứ lại còn ngay trước của nhà anh nhà văn 🥹🤡
Chắc cú bả chọn Hiroto quá, hai người đồng điệu về tâm hồn dã man.
Từ tập 7 trở đi cũng có thêm nhân vật Nakajima nữa. Nakajima thổ lộ với Natsuki mình đang hẹn hò với con gái xong rồi Natsuki cũng đọc thêm sách về LGBTQ nữa, dù tác giả chỉ vẽ chi tiết rất nhỏ thôi nhưng mình thấy siêu siêu đáng yêu.

I really hope this series continues for a long time. I will own this whole series in time. Its sincere in its depiction of self discovery in small moments and in the people we love and keep close. Also, all the food looks so good. I have a list of Japanese food to try.

De los mejores manga que he leído en los últimos años. Esta historia tiene un alma y una humanidad que me hace conectar tan fácilmente con todas las tramas… es como hablar con amigos ♥️
