Daylight: A Moonflower Cove Romance

Rate this book
Avery Jacobs has been living and working in Moonflower Cove for years. She loves her job, her tiny apartment, and Diet Coke. What she doesn’t love is the weight of a secret that’s been eating at her since the day she interviewed for her job at Taylor Memorial Hospital.

When one surgery starts to change things for Avery, she slowly opens up to the people around her. Including the adorable phlebotomist who keeps flirting with her across the cafeteria.

Aspen Murphy has been hopelessly in love with the hot Dr. Jacobs since the moment she laid eyes on her a few months ago. The only problem has been that Aspen has been too shy to say anything to her. Even with her parents encouraging her, Aspen never felt good enough to catch the eye of Dr. Avery Jacobs.

Can Avery and Aspen make their relationship work with the secrets and insecurities that plague their lives? Or will they work through it all to step into the daylight of a new relationship together?

Another Successful “Moonflower Cove” Romance 💕

Addison Clarke has taken us through 17 books in this series and still I savor every single word. I knew the Avery Jacob’s story was going to be sooo good. Leaving out the critical details for new readers. There are two members of the original Mackenzie family that has caused such great harm to their sisters, so it was really good to get a little back story on them and Avery. As the Moonflower Cove Mackenzie’s start to find out about Avery, the emotionally charged family comes together to create a bond that Avery at times has trouble accepting. But finding herself with a girlfriend has had its own rewards. With Aspen Murphy by her side, her life has taken a different turn that it did in all the years she has been at the Cove. Loved this story! My heart is full but secretly can’t wait for the next one. 🙏

I really wanted to like this but it’s just not for me.

The writing is very simple and everything feels juvenile. Avery is 34 while Aspen is 32 but the author makes them speak and act like they’re early twenties when it comes to their dating lives and romance.

Aspen has “had little experience in the kissing or dating department” while she nor Avery have literally ever had a gf before.

I don’t mind characters that aren’t into one night stands and sleeping around, in fact, most times I prefer that. This however, just feels like it’s too much and a far too unrealistic.

Idk maybe I’ll try to finish the rest one day but just not now.

Avery Jacobs is a OBGYN at Moonflower Cove's hospital, and has no close family as her religious parents tossed her out because she was gay. After moving there she discovered her aunt, Isla, was there along with a horde of cousins, but they are unaware of her and she's too shy to approach them.

Aspen Murphy has a crush on Avery, and gets teased about it by her Moms. They catch a elevator and chat, and she offers Avery dome of her mom's cookies.

Avery is so cheerful her coworker Mel teases her, pointing out she hasn't smiled like that as long as she's known her. She invites her out to dinner on Sat, where she reveals she knows Avery's secret and offers her support.

Avery and Aspen get tricked into a date by Mel and Aspen's friend Layne. They eat, then go out driving, both agreeing to do it again.

Avery reveals her parentage to Vera, her boss and her Aunt's wife, whom is overjoyed. They then tell Isla, who seems ready to adopt her. Then they start introducing her to everyone.

Very warm and fuzzy book, mostly. There's really no conflict in this one, which hurts it a bit i think.

My least favourite of the series: too many grammar mistakes for my liking, the characters are in their early 30s with good careers but talk and act like women in their early adulthood. The same goes for the older characters. Though the premise of the story was good, I think the book dragged too much.

I love this series so more characters and hope it continues forever. The characters are so well created, you can't help but be drawn in. Thank you so much.
