In Wilkins, North Carolina, the nights bleed secrets.
Detective Jesse Stone thought she’d seen it all—until the bodies started piling up. Victims drained of blood, crime scenes laced with something no forensics manual can explain. The deeper Jesse digs, the clearer it this isn’t a case the courts can solve.
But the monsters stalking her streets aren’t the only threat. The more Jesse uncovers, the more she realizes she’s caught between two worlds—one that denies the supernatural, and one that’s been watching her far too closely. Allies become suspects. Truths twist into lies. And every step forward drags her deeper into a war she didn’t ask to fight.
If Jesse wants to save her city, she’ll have to decide who she can trust—because the darkness isn’t waiting, and it already knows her name.
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, and supernatural thrillers will devour this gritty urban fantasy full of mystery, danger, and slow-burn twists.
Welcome to Wilkins. Nothing here is what it seems.
This book is a different take on the normal detective stories with an added paranormal bonus! I liked the dynamic of the team and Jesse together throughout the story. I also loved the build up of chemistry between Jesse and Nate! It's a great read for anyone that likes mystery and suspense with main focus on saving lives and learning to go through life each day.
