A widow auction dark romance with an OTT possessive billionaire, a heroine who murdered her last husband, a secret society that owns them both, and a love forged in blood and obsession.
DANE I've wanted Whitney for twenty years. The Ravens told me no, so I watched her marry a man who didn't deserve to breathe the same air. I waited for the day I could take what's mine. Fifty million dollars at a widow auction. That's what it cost to finally have her. Now she's my wife. She kneels when I tell her to. She begs when I make her. But my kitten is lying to me. She's keeping secrets, and someone is pulling her strings. When I find out who, there won't be enough left of him to bury.
WHITNEY I poisoned my first husband to save my daughter from being sold to a seventy-year-old asshole. And I'd do it again without hesitation. Then Dane Sinclair bid fifty million dollars and made me his. I wasn't supposed to fall for the man who bought me at auction. I wasn't supposed to crave his hands on my throat or beg for his punishments. But a dead man's secrets followed me into this marriage. Now I'm being blackmailed into betraying the only man who's ever made me feel alive. And if Dane finds out what I've done, even a man who loves violence might not forgive me. He thinks I'm his good girl. He has no idea what I'm capable of.
Tropes: widow auction · secret society · OTT possessive hero · morally gray MCs · obsessive MMC · touch her and die · age gap · "kitten" · billionaire MMC · dom/sub dynamics · forced proximity · murder couple · she killed her ex · partners in crime · who hurt you · protective MMC · sibling banter
FALLEN DANE is an explicit, high-spice dark romance novella featuring a morally gray billionaire who buys his obsession at a widow auction and a heroine who already has blood on her hands. AUDIOBOOK REVIEW AT THE END
Oh my god, this book was sooo many fantasies in one! The spicy scenes were adventurous, dangerous, wild, deeply passionate, daring, and oh so kinky. The dominance rolling off date was another level kinda special! He wasn't a dom/ sub role player - no, he was a- do as you're told, when you're told, only if you're told or their WILL be consequences, level of dom! The punishments he dolled out were tantalising and delicious, the passion all the way through, though - that is what made this book! The level of ownership/possession matched the level of love and care, and that's what tipped this over the edge for me!
The plot was thick, secret society that operates with its own laws and backdated, backwater traditions, a rebellious and Firy FMC who will do absolutely anything to protect her daughter, and then there's the 3rd person in the story, the man who is a threat but is it because he wants her for himself or for something worse?
Audiobook review- The narrators did this well. The female narrator pushed the strong emotions of the story into her words, captivating you and pulling you in, making you feel every hurt, pain, and betrayal. Her performance was exceptional - even down to the little gasps of shock or stuttering, extremely well done, and extremely believable. The male narrator was also very good. He had that sexy, domineering, growly style voice nailed down. He offered the characters pain and power up on a platter for you to devour. When he made a threat- you felt it! The only downside was that he got a bit too close to the microphone a couple of times, peaking the volume and popping some letters during his speech.
I love this series! Fallen Dane is the first book in the Sinclair series, and plot twist, he’s dad to the other 3 Sinclair boys. Dane sacrificed his love and feelings for 20 years. It took 20 years for him to get the woman he always wanted, but there’s something that she is hiding. The truth behind what really happened to her husband.
Dane didn’t have control 20 years ago, and now he does. With the power he has now, he’d stop at nothing to keep Whitney his and his enemies at bay. Harrison is itching to take down Dane, and keep Whitney for himself.
I had the honor of not only ARC reading for this author, but also experiencing the audiobook. I’m voluntarily giving my review. And I highly recommend anyone who loves spicy dark romances, billionaires, and secret societies, you definitely need to pick up this series. One thing about the audiobook, I appreciate the dual voices. It was excellently done and brings the story to life.
4⭐️ This ARC was gifted to me by the author: all opinions are my own
👰🏻♀️ Bride auction 🪦 Widow 💞 He falls first 🧑🧑🧒🧒 Protects family at all cost 🌶️ Real spicy
I liked it a lot more than Stolen Dove. Although the story is short and focuses a lot on their physical relationship, the side plot is well explained. Having this little mystery besides the spicy spicy scenes was really entairtaining! I adored the relationships with the kids: they brought a little light in this quite dark story. I am excited to read the next book
I received an advance copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review. Wow—Fallen Dane is absolutely in-your-face from the very first page. There’s no easing into it, no slow circling—you’re thrown straight into a high-heat, high-stakes world where power, loyalty, and desire collide hard. Dane is exactly the kind of character that dominates every scene he’s in—intense, possessive, and completely unapologetic about getting what he wants. And what he wants, he takes. But what really elevates him is that underneath all that rough, commanding energy is a fierce loyalty to family. In this story, family isn’t just important—it’s everything. Every decision, every risk, every line crossed ties back to that core. The plot doesn’t hold back either. Blackmail, tension, and emotional push-and-pull keep things constantly moving. It’s gritty, messy, and addictive in the best way. The romance leans into that “rough love” dynamic—raw, heated, and not always pretty, but undeniably compelling. If you’re looking for something soft and slow, this isn’t it. But if you want a fast-paced, intense read packed with heat, power plays, and a “family above all else” vibe, Fallen Dane delivers exactly that—and then some.
This was just WILD in a mixed sort of way! Let me start off by saying that it’s too short. I wanted more because from the first page, I was Intrigued! Whitney is such a Bada$$ FMC and I can totally understand her character. Dane is so Filthy & I Love that! Read the content warnings because you Will Be in For A NON-STOP Ride!
I might have to just finish this series asap because the bits of plot I get within the smut has me hooked. I wanna learn more about the others 😭😭. This is a guilty pleasure read for sure 👌🏻 so quick and to the point, just what need 🙏🏻
This book wasted absolutely no time pulling me in and grabbing me by the throat. From the very first page, it throws you headfirst into a world of danger, power, loyalty, and explosive chemistry. There’s no slow build here—everything is intense, high-stakes, and impossible to look away from. Dane Sinclair is the kind of hero who completely commands every scene. He's dominant, possessive, and unapologetically ruthless when it comes to getting what he wants. Patience isn't exactly one of his virtues, and surrendering control isn't in his vocabulary. But beneath all that hard, commanding energy lies something even stronger—an unwavering devotion to the people he loves. In this world, family comes before everything, and that loyalty drives every decision, every sacrifice, and every line Dane is willing to cross. And then there's Whitney. From the moment these two collide, the attraction between them is undeniable. Their chemistry practically crackles off the page, and I was completely hooked by their dynamic. Nothing about their relationship is easy, though. Secrets, tension, and emotional obstacles constantly threaten to pull them apart, creating a push-and-pull that had me flying through the pages. Dane's need for control and Whitney's struggles make for a relationship that is messy, complicated, and utterly addictive. And yes, the spice deserves its own mention—because wow. The passion between Dane and Whitney is scorching. Dane's possessive, dominant personality naturally carries over into their relationship, making their chemistry feel authentic to who he is. The tension doesn't just simmer—it explodes, adding even more intensity to an already emotionally charged story. What I loved most, though, was how Dahlia Vale balances all the darker themes with genuine emotion. Amid the danger, blackmail, and chaos, there are moments that highlight the importance of family and the strength of those bonds. I especially enjoyed getting more of the Sinclair family and seeing the blended family dynamics woven throughout the story. Those moments added warmth and heart to an otherwise gritty world and left me eager to see where the series goes next. Fallen Dane is gritty, passionate, and completely addictive. It's not soft, sweet, or gentle—and it never tries to be. Instead, it's raw, intense, and filled with power plays, family loyalty, emotional tension, and enough heat to keep the pages turning late into the night. I was invested in Dane and Whitney's journey from beginning to end, and by the time I reached the last page, I was already desperate to know whose story comes next.
Fallen Dane pulled me even deeper into the Ravens world that first caught my attention in Stolen Dove. We only got a glimpse of Dane Sinclair before, but it was enough to make me curious, so I was excited to finally get his story.
Dane Sinclair is exactly the type of MMC I gravitate toward in a book, powerful, possessive, intimidating, and completely in control. I felt his presence every time he walked into a scene. He's feared and respected, but I really liked those moments where some of that control slipped because it made him feel like more than just the typical dark romance male lead.
Whitney also surprised me. As a Dove, she understood her place in the Ravens world and had accepted the role expected of her. But I quickly realized there was much more strength in her than I first gave her credit for. What stood out to me most was her fierce protective side because there is nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her child. I liked watching her begin wanting more than the role she had accepted and seeing her start to experience what it felt like to truly be seen and wanted.
I was hooked by Dane and Whitney's dynamic. There was an undeniable pull between them from the beginning, and things picked up quickly. It wasn't all smooth sailing though. Secrets and tension stirred things up, and since Dane isn't exactly known for patience or giving up control, it definitely kept me turning pages.
And yes... I have to talk about the spice because whew. Dane's dominant and possessive personality carried naturally into their relationship, and for me it fit his character perfectly. The chemistry was intense, and the tension definitely didn't stay outside the bedroom.
I also enjoyed getting more of the Sinclair family and seeing those blended family elements woven into the story. It added a little warmth inside such a dark world and had me curious about where this series is going next.
I thought Dahlia Vale did a great job balancing darker themes, emotion, tension, and spice while continuing to build this world. I stayed pulled into Dane and Whitney's journey from beginning to end, and by the time I finished, I was already curious about who we were getting next.
4⭐️ for me. This kept me turning pages, and by the end I was already curious about who we were getting next.
Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
I knew exactly what kind of book this was when I picked it up.. my type! But I wasn’t prepared at how good. Dahlia Vale does not write polite books and she admits it. Fallen Dane is a perfect example of why I keep coming back. This is dark romance with zero brakes.. it’s fast paced, obsessive, morally questionable and completely unapologetic about it… and I am here for it and all of them! From the start, the power imbalance is intense and in your face. The world is brutal, the rules are corrupt and everyone knows it. If you’re familiar with this author’s style then you already know… there’s no slow burn here, no easing into the chaos. It’s instant heat, high spice, and “mine” energy right out the gate.
Whitney is the kind of FMC I love in dark romance, she’s smart, adaptable and secretly dangerous in quiet ways. She’s not weak just because she submits and she’s not naive about the world she lives in. Everything she does feels calculated, especially when it comes to protecting the people she loves. Watching her navigate control, power and desire is compelling in a way that feels very typical for this author. And Dane Sinclair? Oh his a full blown alpha menace. Fully! He’s wealthy, ruthless, obsessive and completely uninterested in redemption. He doesn’t pretend to be a good man and the story doesn’t ask you to see him as one. He is possessive, dominant and morally black but somehow that honesty makes him work exactly as intended. Their dynamic is volatile and absolutely feral. This book leans hard into ownership, control and obsession without trying to soften it for comfort because that’s their world. The spice is frequent, explicit and tied directly to power and character. If you like your dark romance messy and intense then this book delivers. The larger world (the Ravens) adds another layer of tension.. they are elite, corrupt and claustrophobic in a way that makes you constantly aware that no one is ever really free. It’s the kind of setting that makes you want more books immediately.. I need them in fact! Read the content warnings. Know your limits. And if you’re still standing, proceed anyway… I did. And I regret nothing… at all! If you’re here to be grabbed by the throat (metaphorically 👀), welcome home.
Looking for raw, filthy smut? This is the book for you!
A secret society of men called Ravens? I’m listening.
What’s your thought on the men “owning" their woman, the doves? Did the word “owning,” have your hackles up? Oh sit tight, that's just a sip.
What happens to a Dove whose owner…oops…husband dies? Surprise! She is auctioned off to the highest-bidding Raven. (Men)
Whitney finds herself on that same auctioneer's block. Thinking that she has it all figured out. She’s secured a Raven to become her new owner…sorry (not really), Husband.
Unfortunately, (or fortunately) the poor Dove, didn’t account for the man who was about to swoop in and claim her. Oh, and claim her he does.
Enter, Mr. Big "D” energy, Dane. His “kitten" didn’t know it, but she was his. Nothing or no one would be able to stand in his way.
Circling back to being “claimed.”
Remember how this is a secret society romance? Would you be shocked to learn that the Raven must claim his dove in front of everyone? Men.
What's your kink? This book has options.
Dom/Sub kink? The power dynamic between Dane and Whitney is deliciously dark.
Praise kink? Dane makes sure to remind his Kitten (Whitney) what a “good girl” she is when she behaves.
Impact play kink? Oh, but this “kitten" has claws, and when they come out, there is always a punishment. And let me tell you Dane knows what he is doing, giving Whitney the kind of pain she craves.
Oh, Whitney…keeping secrets? Whatchu thinking girl? To be fair she has been raised in a male dominated society where a woman's only value is her womb. With her womb no longer on the market, in the eyes of the Raven’s, she’s disposable.
What happens when Dane discovers her secret? Let’s be honest, that man’s going to find out.
Hmmm…..this Duo is going to be lethal, and no one is safe.
The world isn’t ready for Dane and Whitney.
Verdict:
I really enjoyed this book. If you like your spice soon, and to be a little unhinged, then you will definitely enjoy this book.
Fallen Dane is not here to waste your time. It kicks the door in, sets something on fire, and gets straight to business.
This is full-on insta-heat. The kind where eye contact lasts a second too long and suddenly we’re in “I’d ruin lives for you” territory. And honestly? It works. The pacing is quick, but it knows exactly what it’s doing, so it never feels messy, just… intentional chaos.
Dane Sinclair is peak “touch her and you die” energy wrapped in money, control, and zero patience. The man doesn’t fall, he claims. And Whitney? She might be in a submissive position on paper, but there’s a quiet strength to her that stops it from feeling one-sided. There’s this interesting push where submission doesn’t equal weakness, it’s more like… choosing when to hold the reins and when to let go. It adds a bit of bite to the dynamic.
The spice is frequent, very upfront, and definitely leans into dominance and kink territory, but it also builds that possessive, emotional undercurrent underneath it. It’s not just heat for the sake of it, it ties into the whole “we are absolutely not good people, but we are perfect for each other” vibe.
Plot-wise, it’s simple and easy to follow, but it doesn’t feel empty. The whole secret society, auction, and Harrison being exactly the kind of man you’d happily see dealt with… it all feeds into that protective, family-first core. At its heart, this is very much a “burn the world down for you” story, just with better suits and worse morals.
And the ending? Clean, satisfying, no lingering threads trying to be clever. It does what it needs to and gets out.
I flew through it in one sitting, which feels like the correct way to read it, like a shot of something strong that hits fast and lingers just enough.
If you like your dark romance quick, possessive, a little unhinged, and fully aware of it… Dane will probably be your problem now too.
Fallen Dane pulled me even further into the Ravens, Doves, and Talons world, and I really enjoyed seeing more of the Sinclair Billionaires series. This novella is fast-paced, spicy, intense, and definitely does not waste time easing you into the drama. From the beginning, the stakes feel high, and the secret society setup makes the story feel dangerous and addictive.
Dane Sinclair is exactly the kind of morally gray, possessive alpha you expect in a dark romance. He is controlling, dominant, protective, and completely unapologetic, but what made him more interesting to me was the loyalty underneath all of that intensity. His devotion to family and the people he considers his gave him more depth than just being the dangerous man in charge.
Whitney was also a strong character to follow. She has already been through so much, and as a Dove, she knows how this world works. But what stood out most was her role as a mother. Her love for her daughter made her strength feel real, and I liked that her choices were not just about survival but also about protection. There is something powerful about a woman who will do whatever she has to do for her child.
The chemistry between Dane and Whitney is instant, hot, and very intense. The spice is definitely a major part of the story, and Dane’s dominant personality carries into those scenes in a way that fits the darker tone of the book. This is not a soft or slow-burn romance, so I would definitely recommend checking the trigger warnings before reading.
Overall, Fallen Dane is a quick, dark, spicy novella with secret society drama, possessive romance, family loyalty, danger, and emotional tension. It builds well on the world introduced in Stolen Dove and made me even more curious about where the series is going next.
What to expect 🖤 Secret Society 🔥Morally gray MC's 🖤 Over the top possessive MMC 🔥 Forced Proximity 🖤 Marriage of convince 🔥Touch her and ☠️ 🖤 Betrayal 🔥Blackmail 🖤 Age Gap
Holy moly!!🔥 This book is short at around 140 pages. This book is SPICY!
In this Secret Society we have the: Ravens - Members of the society. Doves - The women tied to the Ravens. Talons - Future Ravens trying to prove themselves. Once you're in, you don't leave. Ever.
We follow our FMC Whitney who is a Dove, her husband has died and she is up for auction to be sold to the highest bidder. Little do they know she's planned everything. The auction, the buyer all to ensure her daughter freedom.
I loved Whitney's character, she is strong and clever. She will do anything to protect her daughter Sloane. She is also a woman who know what she wants and doesn't hesitate to tell you.
Our MMC Dane Sinclair the leader of the Talons, he has just ruined all Whitney's plans by bidding on her for $50 million. This was not how it was supposed to go. Dane has no idea what Whitney has done but he is going to find out.
Dane, this man is confident and powerful. 🔥And he has a dirty mouth. I really enjoyed his character. The relationship these two have is special.
"My blood thirsty little wife." "I'd burn down the entire f@cking world for you."
The chemistry between these two was off the charts! The spice was spicy and plenty of it!
The plot in this one was great.
Loved the ending. Can't wait for the next book. Highly recommend for the dark romance lovers 🖤

This book has completely exceeded my expectations. I already enjoy dark romance and had been looking into Dahlia Vale’s work, so once I found this ARC I jumped on it — and I’m so glad I did.
This book had me hooked from the moment Dane was introduced. He is by far my favorite character in the book. Dane is intense, cold, possessive, controlling, and absolutely ruthless, but the way he protects the people he considers family made him impossible not to obsess over. The chemistry between Dane and Whitney had me in a chokehold the entire time. I loved Whitney’s defiance and how she constantly tested him to see how far he would go. Their dynamic was toxic, brutal, addictive, and exactly what I want in a dark romance couple.
The writing style made the story easy to get immersed in, and the pacing kept me engaged the whole way through. The darker elements felt somewhere between mild and medium compared to other dark romances I’ve read, but it still delivered everything I wanted. I especially loved the touch her and die trope along with the morally gray MMC.
One moment that really surprised me was when Whitney lied to Dane and instead of immediately killing her or turning her in, he went out of his way to uncover the truth and then made her pay for it. Their interactions during moments like that were some of my favorites in the entire book.
By the end, I didn’t want the story to stop. The ending left me needing more books in this series immediately. If you love dark romance with possessive morally gray characters, toxic chemistry, tension, and brutal devotion, this is absolutely worth the read. I will definitely be reading more from Dahlia Vale.
**I received this as a part of joining the authors ARC team to review upcoming and past books**
“We’ve built something out of our darkness and violence. We’ve killed together, and we’ll kill again if anyone threatens what’s ours. We’re not good people, and we don’t pretend to be. But we’re made for each other. And that’s all that fucking matters.”
Definitely felt like I got a more “full” storyline with this one, but still left me wanting more (which may be because I just keep getting invested in the characters!). And I love how we get set up to move right into Fox’s book!
In our group chat, Dahlia said these books get darker as you move through the series. And this one had a lot more dark aspects, especially regarding Dane and Whitney’s relationship.
“‘You made me fucking love you, and I’m going to spend the rest of our lives punishing you for it.’”
Whitney is a badass and I think she’s one of my top FMCs now! She did have me feeling real anxious for her towards the middle/end there-even knowing it was a HEA.
“I have already killed for my daughter, and I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. Even if it costs me everything.”
I loved seeing Dane show more and more of his emotions to Whitney. Oh, and his son’s picking on him for being in love before he could even admit it to himself was great!
“‘Dad, I see why you paid fifty million for her.’ ‘Shut up, Fox.’ Dane doesn’t take his eyes off me. Thorne chimes in this time. ‘She’s got your energy. It’s disturbing how well you match.’”
This is the first instalment the billionaires series. This read is short but fast paced, dark and morally questionable.
In this book we meet Whitney and Dane. Whitney is recently widowed with a young daughter, she is now to be auctioned off to another member of the society, that she is part of, to be remarried.
Dane is a dangerous alpha who has been obsessed with Whitney for a long time, he wins the auction and they marry. From the very beginning of this read, the power imbalance between these two is very intense 🔥 This secret society world they are part of, is brutal, corrupt and dangerous. There is no slow burn here! It is fast paced, high spice and addictive from the start 🥵
Whitney is the kind of FMC I adore. She is smart, adaptable and feisty from the start! She isn’t so fragile like a flower, she’s fragile like a bomb! 💣 She is calculated and precise and gives her men a difficult time and she loves it.
Dane is full on alpha male. He doesn’t pretend to be a good man, he’s powerful, obsessive, dominating and morally black… that’s just how i like them 😉 The spice in this read is frequent, powerful and feral! 🌶️
Read the content and trigger warnings before you dive right in, I did not but I have no regrets, I loved every second of it. I will be diving straight into the second instalment 💋
Okay okay no need to twist my arm Dahlia! I will add Daddy Dane into my book boyfriends/book daddies and this series is officially in my Roman Empire! Whatever you put into Daddy Dane’s book I need injected into my brain everyday! I can’t wait to continue and read the rest of your backlog AND your regency series!
The spice was amazing and the possessive energy was addicting I couldn’t put the book down!
I planned everything: the auction, the buyer, my daughter's freedom. Then Dane Sinclair places his bid and claims me instead. I'm being auctioned to the highest bidder by my dead husband's secret society. I have a deal with the man who's supposed to win. He'll bury my secrets. I'll give him the connections he needs to rise in the council. Then Dane Sinclair —the one man I haven't stopped thinking about for almost twenty years-pays fifty million dollars and ruins everything.
Now he owns me. He's making me crave the way he controls me and makes me beg. Making me want things I never felt before.
I'm falling for my husband. But I'm supposed to betray him. And if I don't, my daughter is in danger. When he discovers what l've done, I know he'll never let me go. I don't know if I'm afraid of what he'll do to me-or desperate for it.
FALLEN DANE is an explicit, high spice dark romance featuring a morally gray anti-hero, a widow with secrets, and an auction marriage that becomes obsession.
This is the first book in The Sinclair Billionaires series. Each book follows a different Sinclair brother, but Dane and Whitney's story is complete with an HEA.
Contains dark themes that may be triggering for some readers. (Content warnings on author website.)
Tropes: Widow Auction, Arranged Marriage, Secret Society, Age Gap (10 years), Morally Gray MCs, Over the Top MMC, Dom/Sub Dynamics, Unalivers, Touch Her and Dle, Possessive/Obsessive MMC, Secrets, Forced Proximity, Partners in Crime, "Good Girl", Billionaire MMC
I went into Fallen Dane expecting a dark romance, but what I got was something a little more layered than that. Whitney’s story starts in survival mode—enduring abuse, shrinking herself, and doing whatever she has to do to protect her daughter. And honestly, parts of that were hard to read because of how real it felt. This isn’t a soft world, and the book doesn’t pretend it is. Then Dane comes in, and for a moment you think, “okay, maybe this is where things get better.” But it’s not that simple. What I loved is that the story doesn’t trade one kind of control for another and call it safety. Instead, it builds this tension where Whitney is still in danger—just in a different way. She’s hiding something that could destroy her, living beside a man who would be the one to do it if he found out. And when he does find out? That’s where the story really shifted for me. He doesn’t just expose her or punish her. He gives her a choice. And from there, everything becomes about trust, power, and whether she’s willing to step out of survival and into control. The ending worked for me because Whitney doesn’t lose herself to be “safe.” She steps fully into the darkness and still holds her power, and that felt earned. I read this in one sitting. It’s addictive, intense, and not for readers looking for something soft—but if you like your romance with tension and edge, this one delivers.

I’m usually pretty hard to shock when it comes to dark romance, but Fallen Dane absolutely leveled me. From the very first page, Dahlia Vale hits the gas pedal and never once taps the brakes, delivering a beautifully twisted, high-stakes thriller wrapped in pure, unadulterated obsession. Dane Sinclair is the absolute definition of "touch her and die," dropping fifty million dollars at a widow auction for the woman he's wanted for twenty years. His possessiveness is entirely off the charts, and the intense Dom/Sub dynamics between them are scorching hot, but it’s his fierce, unyielding protectiveness that completely won me over.
Equally incredible is Whitney, a survivor who literally poisoned her ex-husband to save her daughter and refuses to play the passive victim. Watching her navigate a dangerous secret society and a brutal blackmail plot while matching Dane's dark energy is pure perfection; she’s his "kitten," but she absolutely has claws. Once their individual secrets collide, their chemistry morphs into a delicious, chaotic partners-in-crime dynamic. It’s dark, fast-paced, and unapologetically intense. If you love morally gray main characters, forced proximity, and a hero who will burn the world down for his woman, you need to read this immediately. Dahlia Vale has earned a permanent spot on my auto-buy list.
Fallen Dane is one of those dark romances where you just have to buckle up and go along for the ride.
This story leans hard into power, control, and secret society drama, and it doesn’t waste time getting there. The setup is intense right from the start, and Dane is very much a dominant, morally gray MMC who knows exactly what he wants and isn’t subtle about it. If you like your dark romance possessive, obsessive, and unapologetic, he’ll probably work for you.
Whitney surprised me in a good way. Even when she’s thrown into an impossible situation, she doesn’t come across as weak. She’s desperate, yes, but also protective and determined, especially when it comes to her daughter. That emotional motivation added more weight to the story than I expected.
This isn’t a slow burn at all. The pacing is fast, the spice hits early, and the stakes stay high. Because of that, some things move quickly, but honestly that’s part of the appeal. It’s meant to be dramatic, dark, and addictive, and it delivers exactly that.
Overall, Fallen Dane is a quick, intense dark romance with secret society vibes, lots of heat, and a very dominant MMC. Definitely check trigger warnings, but if you’re in the mood for something messy, dark, and bingeable, this one fits the bill.
I absolutely devoured this book. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Whitney being auctioned off to the highest bidder in the Raven Society to protect her daughter instantly pulled me in. Add in a secret society, dangerous power plays, and hidden agendas, and I was sold. Dane… this man. 😮💨 A possessive, obsessive, morally gray MMC who never stopped loving Whitney. Twenty years ago, he sacrificed his own feelings because he didn’t have the power to protect her. Now? He has all the power, and he’ll do absolutely anything to keep Whitney safe. His devotion and protectiveness had me swooning the entire time. Whitney is such a strong FMC, and you can tell she’s carrying a huge secret. Watching the push and pull between them while that mystery slowly unfolds kept me turning the pages. This isn’t a slow-burn story. The pacing is fast, the plot keeps moving, and there’s never a dull moment. Between the blackmail, emotional moments, family dynamics, twists, and suspense, I was completely invested. And the spice? 🌶️ It delivers. The chemistry between Dane and Whitney is intense, emotional, and undeniably hot.
Fallen Dane is a short, fast-paced, and unapologetically spicy dark romance that fully commits to its taboo, power-driven premise. Set in a secret society where “Ravens” claim their “Doves,” the story dives into intense dominance, control, and undeniable chemistry.
Newly widowed Whitney believes she can control her fate at auction—until Dane Sinclair claims her. Their connection is instant and explosive, fueled by a dark, addictive dynamic between his dominance and her defiant edge.
Alongside the heavy spice, there’s a layer of suspense with secrets, blackmail, and looming danger that pulls Dane, Whitney, and his sons into an action-filled twist. The sons’ banter adds a chaotic, entertaining balance to the darker themes.
HUGE thanks to Dahlia Vale for allowing me the opportunity to read this mouth watering deliciousness!
If you’re craving a quick, filthy, high-stakes romance with strong chemistry and a unique secret society backdrop, this delivers.
Fallen Dane is a tightly written, fast‑moving story that flows impressively well for its length. The pacing is smooth, the transitions are clear, and I never found myself wondering, “When did that happen?” Everything unfolds naturally and with purpose.
I did notice a couple of grammar and spelling issues, but they were minor and didn’t interrupt the overall experience.
What really stood out to me were the characters. The FMC is an absolute badass — confident, capable, and unafraid to get her hands dirty when the moment calls for it. She takes what she wants, and one of the best parts of the dynamic is how much the MMC respects and enjoys that side of her.
The MMC himself brings a strong, commanding presence to the story. He’s possessive, dominant, and adds a bold intensity that fits the tone perfectly without overwhelming the plot.
Overall, Fallen Dane delivers a satisfying blend of action, character strength, and dark‑edged romance. A great pick if you enjoy stories with assertive leads, smooth pacing, and a touch of grit.
Fallen Dane was one of those books where I came for the chaos and stayed for the storyline hiding underneath all the spice 👀🔥
This book is definitely heavy on the spicy side, but what kept me invested was the dark secret society storyline, the danger constantly lurking around Whitney and her daughter, and Dane’s intense protective obsession with her. The tension between them felt layered beyond just attraction, especially with everything surrounding her late husband.
Whitney was strong, take no sh**, and willing to do whatever she had to for her child, which made me root for her the entire time. Mamas stick together for our babies, making this also relatable And Dane? Possessive, powerful, and absolutely in his “touch her and die” era.
The pacing was fast, dramatic, and addictive, with enough twists and tension to keep me flying through the pages. If you like dark billionaire romances, secret societies, obsessive protective MMCs, and a plot that still manages to pull you in between the spicy scenes, this is definitely worth picking up. 🔥🖤
Fallen Dane by Dahlia Vale is a short, fast-paced, high-spice dark romance and an incredible start to The Sinclair Billionaires series. I devoured it, unable to put it down until I saw how it ended. The forced proximity, secrets, and high-stakes power dynamics come together perfectly, making this book utterly addictive.
The story is well written and the world-building is immersive and detailed without slowing the pace. The secret society, with its Ravens, Doves, Talons, and mysterious council, adds tension and intrigue throughout.
Dane is ruthless, dangerous, and completely dominant, while Whitney is fierce, intelligent, and willing to do anything to protect her daughter—even when she can’t resist Dane’s control. Their chemistry is intense and scorching, and I loved every moment of their story. I can’t wait to see what the rest of The Sinclair Billionaires series has in store.

A huge thank you to Dahlia Vale for the gifted ARC!
Thank you to Dahlia Vale for the ARC Fallen Dane in exchange for an honest review.
This one had intensity right from the start. The chemistry was immediate, the tension was sharp, and the emotional stakes were high. I loved the darker tone and the constant push-and-pull dynamic between the characters — it kept me fully invested.
That said, while the relationship was compelling, there were moments where I wanted a bit more emotional depth to fully ground some of the shifts. The intensity carried the story, but a few scenes could have benefited from more layering.
Still, it was addictive. I flew through it. The angst, the atmosphere, and the drama absolutely delivered. Not flawless — but strong, dramatic, and emotionally charged.
Fallen Dane is a dark, unapologetic romance that dives straight into a brutal, male-dominated world where power, control, and obsession are everything. The concept of the Ravens and their “doves” sets the tone early—this is not a soft or easy read.
Whitney is a compelling heroine—smart, adaptable, and far from weak, even within a system stacked against her. Dane, on the other hand, is a fully unhinged alpha: possessive, ruthless, and completely comfortable in his dominance. Their connection is intense and volatile, built on a heavy power imbalance, secrecy, and that addictive “mine” energy.
The story moves fast—no slow burn here—delivering instant chemistry, high spice, and a dynamic that leans into darker themes without holding back. The secret society element adds tension, especially as Whitney’s secrets threaten to unravel everything.
If you enjoy dark romance with obsessive characters, high stakes, and morally gray dynamics, this one absolutely delivers.

Audiobook review: This book is narrated by Hannah Marie and Nick Crawford. These are new to me narrators as well as a new to me author. It is narrated in duet style and it was actually well done. Nick actually wasn’t a bad narrator for the male POV. Although, I think he’s suited for someone younger. In this book, we meet Dane and Whitney. Whitney is a recent widow who is now to be auctioned to another member. Dane is a dangerous alpha who is in full on obsession. Dane sacrificed his love and feelings for 20 years. It took 20 years for him to get the woman he always wanted/loved. Harrison wants to take down Dane and keep Whitney for himself.
In this Secret Society we have the: Ravens - Members of the society. Doves - The women tied to the Ravens. Talons - Future Ravens trying to prove themselves.
