Some antiques aren’t meant to be sold… only silenced.
When Remi Wentworth inherits her grandparents’ antique shop, she plans to settle the estate and fly back home. But after a hidden trunk is discovered and the appraiser she hires dies hours later, whispers of arsenic poisoning place Remi at the center of a small-town scandal.
With nosy neighbors watching and trust in short supply, Remi uncovers a legacy of secrets her grandparents protected at all costs. Guided by coded ledgers, sharp instincts, and an opinionated parakeet named Mr. Peabody, she must untangle decades-old lies to clear her name...and decide if Wentworth Antiques is worth fighting for.
Antiques and Lilies is more than the usual shop. It is a small hub where Harper offers tea in a comfortable corner of her store. The tea is served in delicate antique cups where her usual customers all have their favorite cup. One day a regular customer dies, suspected to be murder. With a podcast she does, it puts her in the cross hairs of the suspect list. She doesn't know why, but the disappearance and unsolved murder years ago had become the topic in her podcast. This seems to have angered someone toward Harper. Are the two things related? The salon owner next door is the mother of a fantastic thirteen sleuth, Stephanie. With surprising observation skills, she seems to always add to investigations. Will Harper avoid being arrested? Will officer Cole be able to keep her safe? Do not let this book sit on your TBR list! Another great book by Marie Higgins!
This story by Ms. Higgins is different from her other books I've read. Harper finds a body in her new shop. She becomes the suspect and the detective, Nathan, is there more to protect her instead of looking for proof to actually charge her. Harper is the one with the inquisitive mind that finds the truth and a secret from the past. A wonderful cozy mystery from the "Queen of Tease". I received an advance copy. This is my voluntary opinion.
Antiques and Arsenic is a book you won't put down. A cozy mystery set on Lilac Lane. A new series that is worth the read. Harper and her sister, Piper own the Antiques and Lilies shop on Lilac Lane and when one of their friends and customer is found dead, after drinking tea that morning, at their shop. Now they are both being questioned. This is only the beginning of ordinary happenings turning deadly. Great read. I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.
