The Knight Sisters #1

Breaking Without You

Rate this book
Second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.

Violet Knight fell for Cameron at the wrong time. And when he left, she thought her life was over. But then, after the worst happened, she truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and she’s not offering one. Though given that their families have been forced together after losing one of their own, she knows there’s no turning back. Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

Cameron Connolly never wanted to hurt Violet, but there were reasons he had to leave all those years ago—not that she'd believe him if he told her what they were. He not only left her, he also left his foster brothers. Honestly, Cam didn’t want to come back to Denver to help run his father’s failing brewery. But when it comes to his brothers, he knows he’ll find a way to make it work. Perhaps he’ll even earn Violet’s forgiveness and face the connection they both thought long forgotten in the process. Because he wanted her then, but now he knows he needs her. He just hope she needs me.

3.5 rounded to 4 Stars since it is probably just me!

Just a word of warning **** This book starts out right away with the sensitive subject of suicide** If that is a trigger for you this would not be your book.

Violet’s life is very chaotic right now. She is very sad over losing her best friend and is very upset that she didn’t see the signs. Her ex-husband just remarried and unfortunately his new wife works at the same company that Violet works. And to top everything off her first love, who up and just left town 10 years ago with no explanation, is now back in town.

There is plenty going on in this story but for some reason I felt there were dull moments throughout the book. It is probably just me but it didn’t always keep my interest.

A second chance romance and the first book in a new series from Carrie Anne Ryan

I enjoyed this story, it was very sad at the beginning and quite often throughout, Violet had recently lost her friend through suicide so the book does touch on a sensitive subject but does not go into the details, its sad none the less. Violet is left with hurt because she didn't see the signs in Alison and wished she could have done something for her friend if she had only known her inner turmoils that weren't visible.

On the day of her best friends funeral the Connonly brothers attend to honour their mutual friend they all knew Alison from when they were younger and among them is Cameron Connoly the boy that left town and never returned leaving Violet hurt and lost, she had loved him and he her but he suddenly disappeared not only leaving her but his brothers too.

Now the boys were all back following their adopted parents deaths and wanted to save the bar they now all owned.

This is a story of re-kindling relationships for all concerned and also one I wish had been told differently. If only this story had started when the boys were younger, the three mouth watering handsome heart-breakers who had all been in care and had been rescued by an amazing couple, what journey that would have been but this story starts years later and is more a story of loss, love and friendships, the now without the journey of how they got were they are today.

I found myself more interested in the boys re-kindling their relationships after Cameron's disappearance and the why's and how they were all determined to get the bar back up and running and making money to honour their adopted parents rather than Violet and Cameron's relationship, I felt it lacked spark and in one chapter I think it was chapter 3 I found myself thinking that Violet didn't half waffled on, some words and sentences were also repetitive and the characters not exciting enough.

An enjoyable read but I think it could have been so much more and just lacked something for me.

Where oh where do I begin??? Carrie Ann Ryan takes us on a journey of hurt, loss, devastation, reconnection, acceptance, and forgiveness in this amazing start to the Fractured Connections Series. I for one was in tears numerous times while reading this book and I would venture to guess that most readers were as well.

This book deals with the suicide of Voilet's best friend, Allison, it was done off page so we don't witness the downward path that drove her there but what we do see is the devastation left behind. Violet is having an extremely hard time dealing with the fact that she didn't see her friend was in trouble and needed help. This is something that all loved ones that are left behind have to come to terms with and believe me when I tell you it isn't easy.

As if things weren't hard enough for Violet to handle in walks her ex, Cameron, who just up and left town years earlier without a word and left her heartbroken. Cameron and his brothers are trying to save the bar their adoptive father left to them. I really enjoyed this part and look forward to seeing more of the brothers interactions because there was so much animosity with Cameron leaving his brothers behind years earlier but he's back now and he is hoping to make amends with everyone he hurt, but they have to meet him halfway too and that proves to be more difficult for some than others.

Carrie Ann Ryan is an author that I always recommend and this book is no different, my one suggestion would be to have some tissues nearby because you will need them. Happy Reading!!!

Book one Breaking Without You in Fractured Connections Series by Carrie Ann Ryan
This book starts with all the Knights sisters and Connolly’s brothers attending there friends Alison funeral after she committed suicide without a note saying why.
Cameron is an adopted Connolly like his twin brother Aiden and other adopted brother Brandon but after his adoptive mum and dad died and his birth mother called begging for help he discovers another brother called Dillion how now only 18.
Cameron tried to call his brothers to say they had a younger brother but non of his brothers answered his calls so his stopped calling so a lot of time and distance caused a massive friction between everyone.
Violet is Mace’s sister from Fallen Ink (Montgomery Ink Colorado Springs Series)
This book starts with Violets Harmony and Sienna attending there bff funeral and meeting up with the Connolly’s especially Cameron Violet’s ex.
There’s massive backstory and a lot of history between most of the characters but mostly Violet and Cameron and how they broke up but also how they develop their new relationship and not repeat old mistakes.
I really loved that this was all about relationships between brothers sisters friends and parents not too much drama and a great second chance story.
I absolutely loved two narrators but I thought they would read the line differently. They each took different chapters but I feel it would have be awesome for them to read male and female lines separately but still really enjoyed this audiobook CAR picks such great narrators.

I honestly don't know what to say about this. I don't typically read too much about a book before I read the actual book, but I wish I had in this case. I thought I was going to get a second chance romance, and it is that to a degree as a couple gets back together after 5 years apart. What I didn't expect was the deep dive into suicide and the after affects of what suicide does to those left behind. As per Ryan's forward, she has suffered from depression for a long time and wanted to reflect that in her writing. I appreciate that and think the romance genre is a great place to deal with darker subjects sometimes. The book begins with 3 lifelong friends at the funeral for their best 4th friend who has committed suicide at age 27. The book never really lightens up from that. If the book had stayed in that lane - finding love in the midst of tragedy - I think I would have liked it better. I don't have a problem with it because it is a dark story. I have a problem with it since there are so many dark things - child abuse, suicide, alcohol abuse, spousal death, death of parents, foster care, environmental issues, abandonment, etc. - that never really get the page time needed to make this feel like a complete story. So much is dropped on the reader that the romance gets lost.

Violet and Cameron dated when they were younger. He left, and they didn't see each other for awhile. Violets's friend dies, and she starts spending more time with Cameron. She gets bad migraines and Cameron takes care if her. They are dating, Cameron explained and apologized for what happened back then. They go on dates, they hang out at the bar. They start a bar hop pool tournament. They have a wings night at the bar. Some girl flirts with Cameron, Violet freaks and leaves. Cameron follows her to her brother Mace's house to grovel. They talk and both admit they were wrong, and they apologize to the other one.
Up next is stories about 2 of his brothers, and their bartender. Also Violet's 3 friends. The next 2 stories start in this book. Book 4 of the series was a suprise, didn't think about this couple getting together.
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Dare To Hope!!!

Violet Knight loved Cameron Connolly years ago but when he left her, she thought her life was over. But she moved on then life decided to throw them back into each other's orbits again when she lost someone close to her...One of her best-friends, Allison.

Cameron Connolly never told the woman he loved why he was leaving her. He had his reasons, he just never intended to hurt Violet Knight the way he did. She wasn't the only one he left behind, he also left his foster brothers (Brendon & Aiden).

Now he was back in Denver, he didn't want to come back to help his father's failing brewery. But he was going to make it work with his brothers. He'd always wanted Violet, he just hope she could forgive him.

Seeing him again wasn't something she was prepared for. She broke down in front of him after holding herself together for so long. Violet couldn't stop thinking about Cameron and vice versa. If only she knew why he left all those years ago.

She wasn't the only one he had to make amends with. His twin Aiden hated him and even though he understood his anger. He couldn't regret his choices cause of them, he found out about their little brother, Dillon. Cameron made it his mission to mend their fractured relations.

The Connolly brothers, the Knight sisters and Harmony had each other to rely on when things went wrong. They were all trying to move on as best as they could. Cameron and Violet got their second chance at happiness.

BREAKING WITHOUT YOU is the first installment in Carrie Ann Ryan's FRACTURED CONNECTIONS series. OMG this book ripped my heart to pieces and then put it back together again. It was phenomenally awesome, heartbreaking, alluring and oh so irresistible. Another masterpiece by Carrie Ann Ryan. 5++++

****I received this book, without any obligation to review.****

This book had me feeling so many emotions! Violet and Cameron’s story isn’t a true second chance romance in my mind, they were interrupted in their relationship. Life got in the way, and they were separated. Their lives took different paths, but it led them back together. While they deal with their multitude of feelings from what is happening that brought them back together, they find each other. There is pain and betrayal in what they feel for each other, but they decide to go with what they have. Their feelings are still there, and they feel good. They both need to feel good, so they take that chance.

Cameron was such a great character, and I felt for him. He did the right thing, he really did, with everything but Violet back then. And he is doing all he can to do the right things now with her. He has such a strength to him, but still has a deep vulnerability. I wanted to hug him, and kick his brothers, not Dillon though. By the end of the book, less kicking was needed, and everyone seems to have needed hugs

Violet’s feelings were so raw, so real, and they enveloped you through the whole book. Have your tissues ready. This story, the whole series, deals with some deep emotions, true and stark, and it starts at the beginning. Violet lets us into her world, and we get to see her thoughts and feelings. Far from fragile, she needs the love and support from her family, and her friends, and Cameron. Cameron is a part of her, and he comes along when she needs all her parts to hold it together

This book, and this series, will touch a deep part of you. Not because finding and falling and love should always make you feel. But because life isn’t always easy, and finding and falling in love can happen even when things are hard, and you are hurt. Be prepared, and then be in wonder, as love happens, in any circumstance

I have read a huge amount of Carrie Ann Ryan books and as much as I have loved them, Breaking Without You is the shining light of them all. This story was highly emotional, even sitting here thinking about the book now that I am finished brings tears to my eyes. Cameron and Violet’s story had my heart hurting and my soul weeping. The connection between reader and the characters has a strength like I have never experienced before. I felt the sorrow, heartache, anger and confusion like it was actually me experiencing it. However I also felt the hope, the bond and the love that their story gave us. This book gives you not only an emotional experience like no other but has heat and steam, witty banter and secondary characters that you will fall in love with.

I honestly don’t know how to review this book. Objectively it is a great story. The second chance romance was sweet and sexy. My problem is that Violet’s issues hit way too close to home for me and it dragged me down. Break out the tissues and gird your loins and enjoy.

From NYT bestselling author Carrie Ann Ryan, comes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.

I fell for Cameron Connolly at the wrong time. And when he left, I thought my life was over. But then, after the worst happened, I truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and I’m not offering one. Though given that our families have been forced together after losing one of our own, I know there’s no turning back. Not this time. I never wanted to hurt Violet Knight, but there were reasons I had to leave all those years ago—not that she’d believe me if I told her what they were. I not only left her, I also left my foster brothers. Honestly, I didn’t want to come back to Denver to help run my father’s failing brewery. But when it comes to my brothers, I know I’ll find a way to make it work. Perhaps I’ll even earn Violet’s forgiveness and face the connection we both thought long forgotten in the process. Because I wanted her then, but now I know I need her. I just hope she needs me.

This book drags us kicking and screaming through all of the “feels”.

In Breaking Without You we follow Violet’s journey through grief, trust issues, and self doubt. Her best friend just died, but she’d already had a rough couple of years. AND the guy who shattered her heart years ago is back in town. The first of this tale is so sad, but manages to keep from being depressing. Carrie’s storytelling takes us through all of Violet and Cameron’s thoughts as well as the physical aspects so I felt like I was in their shoes. Luckily these characters have deep seated family ties (if not blood family, the family you choose) that strengthen their resolve to best their circumstances. In the end I love that Hope wins out, that and sometimes we absolutely cannot stand on our own. Sometimes we have to have help to be our best selves. This thought provoking tale is well worth the read, but you might want to have some tissues handy.

Fracturing at the seams 💔

What a great start to a new series by Carrie! This one is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and focuses on the Connelly brothers and an event which fractures their brotherly bond and also focuses on Sienna, Harmony and Violet when a tragedy close to home brings uncertainty and discord to their lives. The couple that is given the most attention is Cameron and Violet and focuses on their second chance at love and trust issues because of how Cameron left years ago....with no closure!

This story is really intriguing how it looks at those questions which go unanswered in times of tragedy and consequences of actions that you think will have no repercussions but they do especially when those bonds or connections are so badly fractured💕 I look forward to the other characters in this story and unraveling more of the mysteries surrounding them all😍

While being a romance book and also heavy subject matter, Carrie Ann Ryan does a fantastic job with the first book in this new series. Violet is a relatable character. I could feel her pain on the pages. I felt for her in ways I didn’t expect. She suffers a huge loss and has to come to terms with it. She also has to deal with Cameron coming back into her life. Cameron isn’t a perfect man. But, he is a great man in this story. He redeems himself more than once in this book. I can’t wait to see what Carrie Ann has in store for her next book!

Great start to a new series. The first chapter breaks your heart and then it starts to heal slowly throughout the book. Violet sees her old love at the funeral of her best friend. Cameron helps Violet when she is trying to understand why Allison would kill herself. The characters is this book are so good. The Connolly brothers are at odds because Cameron chose to help his unknown to him younger half brother, Dillon. Dillon is a kick. I love his personality. I hope we see more of him in this series. Slowly the brothers work their way back to each other, where at the same time, Cameron is trying to get back to Violet. A wonderful love story among all the other drama and life that is going on.
