ปกสวย แต่เนื้อเรื่องไม่ได้สวยงามตามปกด้วยเลย ... เนื้อเรื่องจะเล่าถึงชิโนะฮาระก่อนที่เราจะรู้จักเขาใน In these words ซึ่งสำหรับเล่มนี้เรามองไม่เห็น connection ระหว่างคาแรคเตอร์ตัวเดียวกันที่เป็นตัวเอกในอีกซีรีย์เลย แต่ก็อย่างว่า ระหว่าง Maybe Someday กับ In these words ยังมี time gap อีกมากมายที่จะทำให้เขากลายมาเป็นชิโนะฮาระแบบที่เราเห็นในปัจจุบัน

I have a dilemma. Instead of downloading 'In These Words' I now want to buy the chapters. The problem is, that costs more money and plus and also I don't want to take this one out of the plastic so I imagine I will feel the same about the rest of them, this presents a major problem. How will I actually read them?

Oh my poor Shino! My heart it filled with your sorrow!
I LOVED getting to see a bit of Shino's past and learning more about what has made him into the man he will become. I don't think I will ever be a fan of Teraoka though. I hope Shino detaches his nuts with a dull knife.
The artwork, of course, is amazing!

I think, everyone who follows the In These Words Series is curious about Shinohara's past and how he became the man he is. One piece of his story we have over here.
I may still don't have a clue what made him the way he is in In These Words but it was for sure highly interesting to read about the young cop he was.
As always the illustrations by TogaQ are fantastic! Just look at that breathtaking cover!

Mega gute Story <3 Endlich mal ein gutes Prequel! Über das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis kann man sich streiten, aber als echter Fan sehe ich darüber hinweg. Werde mir auch das nächste Prequel mit Genuss zulegen! Auch die weiteren Hintergrundinformationen zum Entstehungsprozess waren sehr interessant und ich habe sie sehr genossen.

O.W.L. 2020 Potions - Shrinking solution: book under 150 pages
I think it's a nice prequel, however I'm not sure if it explains much of Shinohara's psyche. It's a good glimpse of what might become the catalyst of his twisted personality though. I enjoyed reading it nonetheless.

Am Anfang bin ich davon ausgegangen, dass es nur eine „langweilige Polizeigeschichte“ sein wird, aber ich bin echt positiv überrascht und fand die Geschichte extrem spannend und auch ein wenig befremdlich zugleich.
Ich liebe einfach die verschiedenen Prequels die es von „In these words“ gibt, weil man so alte Charaktere besser kennenlernt ✌️😗

The cover and title paint perfectly the overarching mood of this beautifully crafted tale. I wouldn't blame Shinohara for looking up at the sky and asking Why? after facing such hard blows. Just look at his facial expression! He's so broken, so disillusioned.
I'm praying for a sequel soon so I could get some answers and uke Shinohara! I also love the way Shinohara's character is developed, how this story blew away my expectations. Teraoka is easy to hate but he's good at being bad.
My FAVORITE book from these authors. Also, one of my top three covers.

Maybe someday ist ein Prequel zu In these Words, in dieser Light Novel lernt man den Polizisten Kenji Shinohara etwas besser kennen. Die Geschichte spielt vor den Ereignissen in In these Words und kann so meiner Meinung nach auch davor gelesen werden, wenn man denn an den Mangas interessiert ist, wenn nicht, glaube ich, gibt einem die Geschichte dann nicht so viel.
In Maybe someday geht es um den ersten Fall von Shinohara, der gleich in die vollen geht. Wie gewohnt geht es brutal zur Sache und die Empfehlung ab 18 sollte beachtet werden. Es gibt 15 Illustrationen, die wieder richtig toll sind. Ich mag diesen kantigen und erwachsenen Stil sehr gerne. Da ein Bild am Ende aber sehr spoilert, sollte man nicht einfach so durchblättern.
Ich muss gestehen, ich hätte gerne noch mehr über Shinohara erfahren, aber bei den gerade mal 96 Seiten war da abgesehen von dem Fall und den damit verbundenen Ermittlungen und dem Ausgang nicht so viel drinnen. Aber besser als nichts und ich bin gespannt, wenn es denn dann mit der Hauptgeschichte weiter geht, wie die Ereignisse in dieser Light Novel Einfluss nehmen werden...

I'm disappointed.
The drawings are great as always from Guilt|Pleasure. A mature and handsome way of drawing men.
The story itself - was pure trash. It felt like a 12-year old (a very perverted 12-year old) had written it.
It was also not really a backstory of Shinohara - a mere episode spanning 4 days of his first case as a police officer fresh from the academy.
There was nothing new you learned about him, his personality felt flat and interchangeable, and his thoughts and feelings were barely described.
What I liked about In These Words, apart from the drawing style, was the psychology of the story, the verbal exchanges between Shinohara and Katsuya. They were both intruiging characters.
All of that was missing in Maybe Someday, unfortunately.
Despite all the logical flaws in the thin plot, I believe it could have still become an enjoyable read if more effort would have been put in it's literary quality and depth of character.
But like this, it's only two stars. One for the accomplishment of getting a book published, and one for the high quality drawings.

Shino isn't my favourite character but to read a bit about his backstory was nice ... well as nice as a G|P story can be considering how much the characters have to suffer yet again.
This story is connected to In These Words by more than just having Shino in it, although we don't quite know the proportions of it yet. I have a hunch, but with G|P you never know, so, let's see where this is going in the future.

Anyone who follows this series has to get the book. Majority is text but the illustrations are beautiful. The cover is the usual high-quality heavy gloss paper. Nicely done. Can't wait until the cover print is available. I really wonder how Shinohara got from where he is in this story to the present. Can't wait for the next part of the series to come out.

Light Novel der In these Words Manga Reihe, da war ich sofort dabei. Ich war auch schon gespannt die Story aus Shinoharas Sicht zu lesen und mich hat es vorallem interessiert, ob es den genauso gut ist wie die Mangas. Und ich muss sagen "Ja". In diesem Light Novel gibt es ein paar Illustrationen von Shinohara und seinem Auftrag und der Rest liest man aus der Perspektive von ihm. Hierzu gibt es zu sagen, dass dieses Werk nicht wie die anderen "In these words" Werke in japanischer sondern in westlicher Leserichtung zu lesen ist. Man beginnt gleich mit Shinohara und wie er den Auftrag vorgeschlagen bekommt und dann geht die gesamte Story erst richtig los. Und diese Story hält den Spannungsbogen wirklich weit oben und lässt erst am Ende etwas nach. Im Prinzip ist es genauso wie die Mangas von der Story her und trotzdem so anders.
Shinohara war mir in diesem Light Novel symphatisch und es war interessant zu lesen, was ihm so geschieht. Er wusste er hatte keinen anderen ausweg als den Auftrag anzunehmen und sich der Gefahr zu stellen. Allerdings hat er nicht damit geahnt, das alles anders kommen würde, wie er gedacht hat. Brutalität und Sexualität spielen hier auch wieder eine große Rolle. Was manche jetzt abschrecken mag, macht es den Light Novel nur umso spannender.
Der Schreibstil ist dabei auch wirklich flüssig und leicht zu lesen. Man kommt schnell voran und merkt einfach nicht, wie die 80 Seiten einfach schnell gelesen sind. Mir hat die Geschichte zu Shinohara sehr gut gefallen und sie hat mir den Charakter näher gebracht. Auch die Kulisse wurde dargestellt und die richtigen Emotionen und Gefühle wurden beschrieben. Es hat hierbei an nichts gefehlt und ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wie und ob es weiter geht. Ich kann diesen Light Novel wirklich nur weiterempfehlen, vorallem für die, die die Manga Reihe gelesen haben.

Die Aufmachung ist einfach klasse. Das Cover ist samtig, die Farben sind unglaublich stimmig und das Cover vermittelt eine einzigartige Stimmung. Der Zeichenstil der, für meinen Geschmack viel zu wenigen Zeichnungen, ist einfach wieder grandios. Dies ist auch der Grund weshalb ich die Novel gekauft habe. Das allerdings so wenige Bilder enthalten sind und das ganze so extrem kurz ist, hätte ich nicht gedacht.
Die Story ist ehrlich gesagt nicht meins, aber ich hasse im allgemeinen Thriller oder Bücher wo Menschen gequält werden. Alles bleibt auch mega offen. Man durchlebt sozusagen einen ganz kleinen Abschnitt des Lebens des Hauptprotagonisten Shinohara. Alles ist mega bedrückend und wenn man bedenkt, dass es tasächlich solche kranken Menschen gibt, bin ich echt deprimiert. Das ist auch der Grund warum ich normalerweise keine Thriller, Krimis und ähnliches lese. Wer sowas mag, könnte durchaus gefallen an der Novel finden. Trotzdem denke ich, dass 10 Euro einfach ein unverschämt hoher Preis dafür ist. Mehr als 3 Sterne bin ich nicht bereit dafür zu geben.

Der Schreibstil ist flüssig und bildhaft. Manchmal vielleicht sogar etwas zu sehr. Unterstützt wird dies durch zahlreiche Illustrationen. Große Teile der Geschichte sind zudem dialogisch. Der Rest wird in der Außenperspektive formuliert.

Kenji Shinohara, den man aus in these words kennt, ist zu diesem Zeitpunkt kurz vor seinem Abschluss, als er seinen ersten Undercover Auftrag erhält. Er ist entschlossen, mutig und kann besser mit praktischen als theoretischen Aufgaben.
Fazit
Vornweg möchte ich erwähnen, dass man für Storys aus dem In These Words Universe ganz schön tough sein sollte. Denn es schabt immer ein bisschen an den menschlichen Abgründen.
Dieses Prequel ist zwar recht kurz, aver die Story sehr intensiv. Man fühlt wirklich stark mir. Es ist dramatisch, mitreisend und zeitgleich schwer in Worte zu fassen, was einem während des Lesens durch den Kopf geht.
Wann immer ich etwas aus diesem Universe lese, bin ich immer verstört und fasziniert zugleich. Wie auch dieses Mal.

Eine richtig gute Ergänzung zum Manga. Man erfährt etwas über die Vorgeschichte von Shinohara. Sehr interessante Story, sehr gut geschrieben und mit einigen Zeichnungen versehen. Man sollte die Mangas vorher lesen.

Ever since I read volume 2 of In These Words, I lost all interest in the main series because of the plot twist. It's okay, it happens. I love Shinohara as a character so this novel was a perfect read for me, glad I got it.
