Lest Is Moore #1

Remember My Name: An MM Rockstar Romance

Rate this book
Frontman Jesse Moore and NFL star Luc Martín share one night of passion, not knowing that they're both on the brink of stardom. It's a night they'll always remember, but there's just one problem- they never told each other their names.

Years later, Jesse's an international rockstar getting ready to play on one of the biggest stages, and Luc's team is gearing up to win their first Super Bowl Championship ring. They're about to come face-to-face for the first time since that unforgettable night.

What happens when fame comes between soulmates?

Your blue eyes cut me wide
In a flickering flame, I couldn’t hide
Moon hung low like it knew
What the hell was I doing smiling at you

We touched like it meant everything
Was it all too much
Breathless in a stranger’s bed
Heart beating like a threat

I never told you who I am
You didn’t tell me about you
Is it stupid I want you to
Remember my name
Even though I never told you

You saw me the night I came alive
For one stolen night, I couldn’t hide
You kissed me like it was the end
Like you knew you’d never see me again

We broke the rules in whispers
With skin we couldn’t tame
The morning silence buried
The truth I never claimed

I never told you who I am
You didn’t tell me about you
Is it stupid I want you to
Remember my name
Even though I never told you

Remember my name
The way I’ll always remember you

Remember my name
Is it stupid I want you to

Remember my name
I wish I’d stayed

Remember my name
and told you the truth

This was so damn star-crossed lovers I can’t even!!!

“You’ll think about it, right?”
“Think about what?”
“Being mine.”

🎸 Jesse, the famous bad-boy Rockstar
🏈 Luc, the quiet, keeping-things-private NFL Player

Like usual Rebecca Rathe it was so intense and so fucking hot!! I highlighted the fuck out of this book and now I can’t decide what quotes to use!!!

“Shhh,” he whispers, sweetly kissing my cheek before licking behind my ear.

Where did my big, shy, gentle giant go? And how did he learn to fuck like that?

“You wouldn’t happen to have any more of my hoodies lying around, would you?” I narrow my eyes at him. If he thinks he’s getting all his clothes back, he'd better think twice.

“Listen to me, Luc Martín,” I whisper-shout, pushing him off me so he knows I mean business. “You think you’re cute, but I got your daddy’s blessing today. I cannot, will not, sully a thing like that by engaging in premarital sex under his roof, lest he change his mind and chase me out with that shotgun Shawna warned me about.”

“What are you doing?” I ask as the lights go down, but I’m acutely aware of the cameraman still trained on our faces. […]
“Loving you,” Luc says simply, “out loud.”

Although I loved it and wanted to high five, the author for being so bold, I can imagine not every reader is going to like that this book is pretty political at times.

I hope there will be more where this came from, there was quite the bit of teasing for more stories to be told.

I love the overall premise of this story. Two young guys who are just at the beginning of their careers share a night neither will forget and, due to a variety of circumstances, are separated for over six years. Neither forgot the other while moving along in their professions.

Both Luc and Jesse care so deeply for one another that time and distance did not sway them from finally being reunited. That aspect of both Jesse and Luc not giving up and giving their romance another chance was sweet and entirely endearing. These two go on quite a roller coaster of a romance as their lives are in two completely different places, but their connection and love for one another cannot be stopped.

Overall, this is an entertaining story that goes the distance in terms of loving gestures and second chances.

3.5🌟 rounded down, but with love and appreciation.

rebecca rathe continues to be a hit or miss author for me, but this one managed to scratch a bunch of itches of mine that are always in need of attention. i love a celebrity/celebrity romance. picked this up amidst a fairly bad reading slump, expecting to take a week or more to get through it, and devoured the damn thing in a single day.

luc and jesse are both entertaining, loveable mcs. the book is a little weak on the writing, has a bit of a cringe-inducing end, but is solid all the way through on it's entertainment. so much so that i'm already opening the authors catalogue back up to see what i can find.

(but i really need authors to stop throwing current pop culture references into books. i got jumpscared by the saja boys and had to put my kindle down for a few seconds 💀)

⭐️ 4.5 stars rounded up! ⭐️

Oh this was wonderful. Rockstar meets Football star - well, before they become actual stars - and seem to fall in love at first sight, and meeting years later after the fateful first night they met each other seems to confirm that it wasn't just a one night stand, that it was something more, even then.

Luc (pronounced like loose, not luke) and Jesse meet at 21 and 19/20 one night at a bonfire party, and after some hours talking and getting closer, they proceed to have a wild night of passion, and passionate it most certainly is.

Insta-love or Insta-lust, doesn't matter, because it worked, I was hooked on these two from the start. The chemistry was immense and their passion was off the charts. We barely got them talking and it was written so well that that didn't matter to me.

Luc, to me, seemed gray-ace, meaning he's rarely ever attracted to anyone, like once in a blue moon. He could be demisexual - I mean, he and Jesse did talk for hours before sex happened - but his attraction to Jesse came on too quickly and suddenly for me to buy demisexuality, as immense as their emotional connection was beyond the physical already.

So to me, he was gray-ace, and it just happened the first and only person he was ever attracted to turned out to be the love of his life.

Only that first night, they didn't even exchange their names and Jesse left the next morning because it was literally when Jesse and his band was made a big record deal and he had to leave. Only 5 years later and they both were so affected by that night that they are both moving through the world practically heart broken.

Jesse has been with many others since, but all in a drunk and drug filled haze to even feel something. But he's been sober for a year in the present time, and there's one woman who he tries to let give him a blowjob - before he and Luc meet up again, so no worries there - out of sheer loneliness, but he doesn't feel anything and stops her soon into it.

Jesse isn't asexual, but he hasn't ever forgotten Luc and doesn't connect with anyone else that way. But thankfully at a party he and his bandmates attend, they're watching a football game and he happens to see Luc on screen. After asking about him, he learns who he is and seeks to find a way to meet up with Luc again.

Luc, while being in the NFL, did it mainly for the money to help his parents keep their house, and doesn't actually like the spotlight at ALL, and mostly stays out of it. He's very introverted, maybe perhaps too introverted int hat he has one friend, AJ, on the team, but he doesn't even go out and hang out with AJ basically ever, especially not the rest of the team.

He's so isolated and of course he can never forget Jesse. He tried to go on a date with a gorgeous woman, but he didn't feel anything and it didn't go beyond a kiss.

But Jesse invites all of Luc's football team to a concert - their band is, of course, hugely famous - and Luc ends up going - even though he isn't aware of who their lead singer is - and he sees Jesse, and it's over right then and there for them.

They keep it a secret for a while, and Luc contemplates not even starting something with Jesse despite his feelings for him because of the attention from the media, from the world, they'd get if it was ever found out, but he can't resist Jesse's pull. And Jesse himself is just a sweet, wonderful guy Luc starts to fall hard for, and vice versa.

The steam in this is *chefs kiss* amazing and beautiful done. They're a switch couple - and thankfully that's established from the very beginning - but Luc does top more often than not. I love it all, it was so well done and I couldn't get enough of these two and their adoration and passion for each other.

Of course, eventually things don't go the way these two wanted - when do they ever? - and they're and while there is some drama, it - mostly - made sense and they are able to whether it together.

My ONLY reason for .5 stars off is only because near the very end, like past 90% at this point, we get a bit of manufactured drama that was a bit silly, imo.

That small bit near the end just all felt rushed, manufactured, and melodramatic. So yeah, .5 stars off for all that.

Otherwise, this was amazing and I loved it. Could have even done with more of them having to deal with the shitstorm of the press and the world and the fans. I very much enjoyed the drama of what we got with them, but I would have liked even more. At least we got some aftermath, though, so points for that.

I also loved the side characters and can't wait for more books in the future. Blake, their band manager and Emmy, the stylist, can't wait for those two, and Naz and his bodyguard for sure. And idk if this author would go full on incest because there was a definite vibe between the two brothers of the band. Unless they're actually stepbrothers or something along those lines? If they are a romance between them would be SO juicy. (Since they're band is SO huge and public perhaps they can't have an actually incestuous relationship, but if they're stepbrothers....wellll....😏 There was just vibes between them, all I'm saying. One brother seemed jealous a LOT of the time.)

So definitely can't wait for more in this series, and this was a wonderful starting off point of this series. Luc and Jesse will definitely be hard to beat! But I can't wait for more.

Until then! 😘😍🥰

Rating: 5/5 🌟
Spice: 4/5 🌶️
Characters: Jesse and Luc

This book was such a ride of emotions. It starts out with one of my favorite prologues I've ever read...just two guys that feel a spark over a fire with soft music that quickly turns into a night neither of them can forget or let go of. Then we jump to a few years later when both of them are professionals and fame.
Luc is a professional football player and does everything in his power to keep his personal life completely personal. He avoids large crowds whenever possible, doesn't like interviews, and prefers quiet nights alone to going out with his teammates.
Jesse is a world famous rockstar that has been in and out of trouble with dr*gs, s*x, etc. He's sober now, after a stint in rehab, and trying to find his enjoyment for life again. He's just sort of going through the motions each day and mostly feeling hollow and numb. Until he sees Luc on a tv while they are all sitting around with a football game on. That moment changes everything for them.

I won't say anything more about the story because I don't want to spoil anything. I think it's best to go into this with a vague idea of what you're getting. It's what you would expect with one loud, very famous rockstar with every aspect of his business in the media and the quiet closed off famous football player. But their journey is filled with so many ups and downs, tons of fantastic (and sometimes kinky) steam, soulmate levels of love, and very real and human emotions. We get great mental health representation. I ached for Jesse so many times and I teared up several times (happy, and from sadness/pain). You get a very real depiction of someone that looks one way to people on the outside looking in but he's internally falling apart and suffering. And Luc...it's easy to be made at him at times but I just couldn't bring myself to feel that way. He made some choices that were not the greatest, but it's easy to see why. Especially later on in the story.
I feel like I'm rambling. Trying to tell you all the reasons I fell in love with these two without spoiling anything is hard.

It's mostly lighthearted, with some heavier moments speckled throughout. Their HEA is a bit hard won but not overly angsty. Most of the angst is external causes and some internal self-doubt / self-worth. These two are without a doubt soulmates, and the love bleeds from the pages. The steam is my personal favorite, so it was absolute perfection to me. And despite the fact that I have always struggled with rockstar romances and tend to avoid them this one is my new favorite and I ate it up. I couldn't put it down and loved every second of it. I didn't even notice that it was 423 pages long or that I was almost finished with it until I hit the epilogue.

I usually gobble up stories like this one and I really wanted to see what happens after the MCs reunited but the writing style is really not my cuppa. A lot of telling instead of showing and it’s become tedious. Shame because the prologue hooked me so bad and I had high expectations.

Just not for me.

considering the vast potential for a celebrity/celebrity romance story, this one was underwhelming to say the least. the famous-forbidden-relationship dynamic plus the pretty cover art drew me in like a moth to a flame, but unfortunately everything inside just fell flat.

the pacing—both plot-wise and romance-wise—felt strange and unrealistic. i wasn't expecting (or even needing) a slow burn, but i was hoping for a more natural ease into jesse and luc's relationship (spare yearning? 🤲🏼😔)... the MCs jumped straight into one and were extremely freaked out way too early on imo. the two of them did nothing but have filthy sex every meet up, yet the author had the nerve to bring up love 39% into the book 💀 i couldn't take their relationship seriously.

i really feel like it wouldn't be insane to categorize this as erotica. there were copious amounts of smut, a sex scene basically every chapter—something that i could justify had it served to push the story forward or increase the MCs' connection in any sort of significant way. but this came across as smut simply for the sake of it. don't get me wrong, some of them were hot, but 8326109 smut scenes with thin slices of uninspired banter and lukewarm drama sandwiched in between... it eventually gets to a point. the irreparable damage "what's the spice rating?" booktok culture has done to modern romance needs to be studied.

description

and i'm just gonna say it—the sex just felt so explicit, vulgar even. am i in my prude era? lol i think without a convincing love story, all the graphic content made it feel like straight porn. for the fans comes to mind in its similarities, but i think the sexual nature of the MCs' dynamic worked for me there bc the relationship was actually given time to develop.

to be clear, there's nothing wrong with an author writing about two ppl who love to have sex going at it. that being said, can we please normalize lovemaking in a story (claiming to be) about love 💔 i could write multiple essays on this topic, but characters being kinky little freaks in the bedroom does not automatically translate to them having an actual connection and chemistry.

anyone who finished this book and their honest takeaway was "what an adorable love story 😍" ... love that for you? but also i laughed.

description

ughhhh she's still going on about the smut?? well yes. this felt less like a romance novel and more like a medium for the author to write about her various kinks. which, as i said—fair enough. but kill me for expecting more swoon-worthy, romantic moments after reading the sappy and heartfelt lyrics in the blurb. speaking of the lyrics, some reviewers found the lyrics to be corny, so going in i fully expected them to be terrible. they actually weren't as bad as i expected. it's also clear that the author put effort into various aspects of the story. i did like fire being a sort of reoccurring symbol of jesse and luc's "love"—the bonfire where they first met, the flame lilies on the car seat, the bonfire in the epilogue bringing their story full circle.

sadly, there were many other things aside from the things mentioned earlier that prevented me from enjoying this book. a lot of the political commentary was too on the nose for my tastes. side characters were nothing special, overall forgettable and easy to mix up. honestly couldn't describe any of jesse's bandmates if i had a gun to my head. everything at the end was also resolved and wrapped up quickly.

another reviewer described the random mention of kpop demon hunters/saja boys as a jumpscare, and that is putting it perfectly 😭 authors please beware of unnecessarily including relevant pop culture references in your fiction stories... it instantly dates them and makes them corny (i don't make the rules!)

i think most of my disappointment boils down to the lack of realism. i expected this going in, but i did indeed have to suspend my disbelief many times while reading. ain't no damn way the nfl is putting on a halftime show filled with gigantic rainbow flags and drag queens 💔

sooooo yeah clearly this story wasn’t for me, but if you think you’ll enjoy it as many others clearly have, please don’t let me stop you :)

3.5⭐ I'll just ignore the fact that there's actually no possible chance in hell that these two never saw each other on tv or the internet or SOMETHING. Even like a damn billboard or magazine. Like you're telling me that one of them is in the NFL and the other is the front man of a mega famous band and they never once saw each other's faces in 6 years? GTFO.

They were still super cute. Gotta love gay Taylor Swift x Travis Kelce fanfiction. Cause that's what this was if we're being so real.

I've read this author before and it seems like she loves to write smut. Like fair enough girl but like what happened to hello? How are you? My name is..? Cause like damn why can't these two just have a conversation without banging 3 seconds later. Jeez. Also, this shit dragged on way too long and yet never finished a thought. Why did we never sort out the whole hacker nonsense? They just never found the guy? Also, who won the Superbowl??? But tbh I don't know if I even care because the only thing I was thinking from about 60% onwards was: "WRAP IT UP PEOPLE".

Not for me

To be honest, I had a hard time with this book. The characters were likeable and the story was good but it was too political for me. The point of view did not add anything to the story and was just thrown in to add conflict, which was never resolved. It felt like rage bait and I don't need that in my romance. Perhaps people will see this review and jump right in....and that's fine. It just wasn't for me, though I have enjoyed a previous work from this author.

the second Jesse got in a harness at his concert all I could think of was

before I pop off let me run through what I liked: the time jump, the (scant bit of) yearning, the overall premise, the LINGERIE WHEW, and, most shockingly of all, the song lyrics?? the real ones know, I usually avoid rock star romances like the plague, specifically because the cringey song lyrics make me go bald. I actually thought these ones were kinda cute and fit the story well, since they were mostly included to show how jesse is feeling about the relationship at different points in time.

I was lured in by the premise and the hot cover, but found the potential a bit...wasted. I needed more yearning. I needed more resistance, more forbidden.
would I enjoy this more if I just turned my brain off? yes. but for very famous people very concerned about their privacy, they SURE DIDN'T ACT LIKE IT???? AT ALL? you're telling me you're going to kiss him in one of THE MOST public settings you possibly can, while you're in the midst of a massive PR crisis? and then act SHOCKED when someone was filming you?? like read the room you guys omggggg i can't do this!! BRO I NEED YOU TO LOCK TF IN!!!
additionally, i'm still unclear how it took them so long to find each other, when it's heavily stressed that Jesse is like, the most famous dude on earth. you're not "niche famous" performing at the superbowl. i don't buy Luc's excuses.
apparently this is Luc for the past six years bc under a rock is the only place he could possibly be to not have seen this man.

then... i hate to even say it, but the sex. it's a bad day when I say there's too much sex!! some of my favorite books are constantly knocked for too much sex, I'm no puritan, but these scenes were repetitive and a little too squelchy for my taste. if you have a cum fetish, you'll love this. if you, like me, are averse to "streams" of "cum spraying through the air", "pooling and squelching"... maybe pass here, because skipping the smut will be skipping 75% of this book.

oh, and WHO THE FUCK WON THE SUPERBOWL??????

I had a blast with this! It kept me hooked from start to finish. It touches on political themes sometimes, but those messages are important, and if you’re into queer literature, you shouldn’t mind them too much.

‘It is not enough to be tolerated. Especially when that tolerance comes with the caveat of making yourself smaller. Tolerance is bullshit. You deserve and should demand acceptance. You can’t hide who you are to protect small minds.’

It’s funny and so sweet. The main characters really work well together and support each other when they need it. Their love is so endearing, and the song lyrics throughout really highlight that. Their journey was intense, and their ending was so emotional.

‘What are you doing?’ I ask as the lights dim, but I know the cameraman is still watching us. We’re still on every screen in the stadium. ‘Loving you,’ Luc says simply, ‘out loud.’

There were a few cheesy moments, but honestly, I’m here for all of it. I really loved it.

Yup, I ate up this rockstar - athlete star second chance romance up. Rebecca is a great MM story teller and of course she made it nice and spicy too.

From two young boys having a one night stand to six years later when they have both made it as big stars they give it another chance while trying to be discrete. Now I love a secret romance especially when it’s a second chance as well, so this checked all the boxes for me.

I think Luc and Jessie need a second book 🙃

kinda meh about this one, not gonna lie.

the prologue was beautiful, and it really set my expectations high for this couple, but i feel like the rest of the story just didn’t live up to them. i think there was too much of an emphasis on their sexual relationship that i didn’t feel the growth of their emotional connection. i also kinda hated how they both responded to the conflict of the book, which i think we all saw coming a mile away.

i don’t know. just meh.

The prologue was beautiful to read. Well written, grabbed my attention and I loved how the two MCs met. I could actually picture myself there by the bonfire as well, that's how vivid it was.
Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. The way that they see meet other again was anti-climatic and quite meh. Then we get the typical OTT musician lifestyle/interactions with other people and I lost even more interest and started skimming.
Funnily enough (or not), I knew exactly what would make it all come crashing down at the end as soon as I read it. I'm not famous but after what happened around 2012, even I know better not to allow any intimate pictures to be accessed by the cloud.
I just keep thinking how great this could have been if they were not famous people and the drama was something more organic.
Overall, it was a good read but I needed more from the story than what I got.

🎸🎶 This is an MM Romance between a rockstar and a NFL Player that starts out as a one-night stand but turns into a connection that runs deeper and lasts for years.
Luc (pronounced Luce, like loose) and Jesse are soulmates, who meet the night before their careers take off, never exchanging names or numbers. As of always with this author, I love the way you can feel the intense connection and chemistry between the characters, from the very first pages. 💕
Rebecca has successfully created a second-chance romance that’s as intense as it is deliciously spicy, consuming both MMCs completely and testing every boundary, and I ate up every second of it. 🎶🎸✨

Did I mention that I need more of these boys and I’m also hoping for the stories of a certain, adorable Emmy and Naz ?! 👀💕

Tropes :
🎸One Night Stand
🎶 Second Chance Romance
🎸Rockstar & NFL Player
🎶Lingerie, breeding, Pierced 🍆
🎸 Soulmates
🔥🫦💦🌶️ All the spice (yummy!)

““I think we might be soulmates, Luc Martín. I’m keeping you.”

“Because now I know what it’s like to wake up next to someone that fits against me like a puzzle piece. Whose laugh lights up more pleasure receptors than the s3x does, and the s3x is pretty fucking mind-bending. Now I know what it is to look forward to talking to someone all day, to feel my heart skip a beat when I find a text or video message waiting. To plan for the future, when we’ll next see each other, and count the days until that happens.”

This was an ARC Review but the opinions expressed are genuine and my own.

I read it with high expectations, and while I liked it, it could have been much better.

Firstly, there was too much sex and too much talk about them "getting to know each other" without showing how they were getting to know each other. Perhaps if there had been less sex, there would have been more time for them to connect in other ways that would have given substance to those strong feelings they had, and a better plot development.

Overall, I liked it and plan to continue with the series because it has potential, and I enjoyed the interactions of all the other characters, but unfortunately, it didn't captivate me as much as I expected.

The easiest 5⭐️s for my boys. My sweet sweet broken boys. And Rebecca did make this one EXTRA slutty.. but I ate up every minute of that pierced 🍆 action and loved every second. Beautiful.

————————

Give me 10 more of these. 20 more books just like this one, and I’d die happily. Equal parts sweet, spicy asf, and a tad bit emosh? I’m such a sucker for it. Every single time. Oh and lingerie 😌 you all know I love me some lingerie.

Luc (pronounced Luce) and Jessie spend one very hot night together 6 years ago. Fuelled by something neither of them can name. Explosive chemistry, an instant draw to one another, and a night full of passionate love making. Only one problem.. they never got a chance to exchange names. Now 6 years has gone by and neither of them has forgotten that night. They’ve lived a whole life in those 6 years, one riddled with sex, drugs, and rock and roll for Jesse. And Luc? Well he’s happy to just fly under the radar and play football. It’s what he’s good at and he loves his peaceful life.

Until one day Jesse spots someone on tv who looks really familiar, and he just knows he’s got to see Luc again. But will their reunion have Luc abandoning his quiet, peaceful life for good? Or will he push the only person he’s ever felt ANYTHING for away when the spotlight becomes too much..

You all know I love Rebecca, and anything she writes? I’m gonna read it but when I tell you this book was absolutely fun and phenomenal, you need to just trust me here. It was hilarious, downright slutty, and fun as hell. A rockstar romance done right. LOVE MAKING done right, and well.. some downright dirty f*cking too 🤣 who are we kidding? The man’s got a ladder for crying out loud.

I miss them already, and if any of the side characters get a book I will die happily. Naz, baby.. I’m lookin at you. AJ too. Everyone can join in? No? Maybe? We’ll see !

Come for the second chance, stay for the spice and the beautiful HEA. Oh and the 💦 in their 👖. There’s some of that too 🙂‍↕️

AHHHHH OMGGG THIS WAS SOOOO GOOODDD & was full of rebecca's typical angst while also being pretty insta-lovey but it was literally just SOOOO perfect!! like i could feel jesse & luc's sparks the entire time!! the plot was soooo different than the usual one with these kinds of tropes, same with the conflicts we had later & how the characters dealt with them...but it just made everything that much more special!! i cant wait for the future possibilities that come from this book!!

The only reason it isn’t 5 stars exactly is the pacing towards the end was just dragging 😭 like girl hurry up and give my boys their HEA. With that being said, I loved them. Isaac and Tyler still own my entire heart, but these two were so special in a completely different way. I always love books where it’s basically love at first sight and then the characters lose sight of each other. With Luc and Jesse and the circumstances of their first meeting I just had chills!!! There was something about Jesse’s voice that had Luc hypnotized and basically at a loss for words. He had never felt like that towards anyone, and here he was with this stranger on a beach, feeling things that were unexplainable. It was almost if their souls had clicked the moment they locked eyes.

It was everything and more reading about Jesse bringing them back together after finding out Luc was the guy he’d been dreaming about for all those years. The guy who inspired the song that changed the course of his life forever. While that song may have skyrocketed his fame, leading to mistakes, mishaps, etc., it ultimately brought them back together. When they reunited after the concert I just wanted to cry!! Luc heard Remember My Name on stage and realized the voice attached to it belonged to the only person who ever made him feel truly alive. How was he to know that song that had somehow stuck with him for some unknown reason, was written about him😭 like yeah I can’t. And like uh, the lyricism was actually crazy and insane and so perfect like I’m obsessed.

I really love how these two didn’t waste time when they reunited It was truly as if they continued where they left off, even if they had only shared that one night together. But honestly, if you know, YOU KNOW. There are only so many people in this world you share a forever bond with and these two’s souls had attached to each other the moment they met; so naturally when they reunited it was as if there souls were satisfied once more. Neither had ever felt like they did with each other. They both regretted not knowing each other’s name but now that they were together again it didn’t seem to matter anymore. They had gone through their fair share of life happenings in the almost 6 years apart, but now that they were together again all was right in the world.

The circumstances of Jesse’s fame and Luc wanting to stay private was devastating. Neither of them understood how their relationship was going to progress if Luc wanted to keep his life private. But of course it blew up in their faces after the sex tape went viral. Like UGH! That shit hurt fr. The way Jesse broke down made me absolutely sick. He felt like he had lost the love of his life when it happened and that their relationship would never work after that. But ultimately, he was wrong. Luc may have originally wanted to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, but he realized soon that he was being selfish in that sense. He knew if he wanted to be with Jesse he had to accept that media attention. He had come to love this man with every fiber of his being and there was simply no way he could live without him. He would have to endure the judgment of other people and the easiness in which they’d attack their personal lives. He had to realize that the voices and the attention of those people meant NOTHING. All that mattered was Jesse. He knew they had a future ahead of them and he wasn’t going to let anyone ruin it. He straight up told Jesse that it was his choice to not hide anymore, that he loved him more than anything. That everyone else can fuck off and let them live.

When Luc’s sister got hurt at the end due to the paparazzi, I felt like that scene was another way for Jesse to find a reason to push Luc away. Well I understood the sentiment of it, it was almost unnecessary in a way. It just added more flame to the fire, and pain that neither of them needed to experience. BUT! That grand gesture on the biggest stage in the world was worth it. Luc wasn’t going to leave that stadium without his man by his side. He needed Jesse to know he was all in and that nothing and no one could keep him away. They were soulmates through and through.

The epilogue was such a beautiful wrap up to their story. They were back at the beach sitting around the campfire where Luc and Jesse met as strangers. Now, they were there wrapped in each other’s arm with Jesse and his acoustic guitar, surrounded by their family, basking in the place where they became part of each other’s souls forever. They spent those 6 years reaching for a connection they had only experienced with each other. Chasing a ghost of connection they never thought they get to grasp onto again. But as we know it, if souls are meant to be, they will ALWAYS find their way back to each other. Back around the campfire, are these two guys who are no longer strangers. These are two guys who know each other’s name, and most importantly, two guys who love the other with everything in them. They fought so hard to get where they are. They came out of the chaos, fear, cameras, noise in one piece… and if they can get through that they can get through anything life throws at them. They now get to live a life that’s just theirs and how beautiful is that 🥹

“My life has always been about control. Of my body, my game face, of whatever storm is waiting for me at home. With just a few chords, a few fractured notes, this stranger is undoing me like it’s the easiest thing in the world.”

“I’m broken apart completely, and I know one thing with a certainty that terrifies me. I’ll never be the same again.”

“I’ve never been held like this, never been touched like this. Never been known like this. And the strangest part is, I don’t even know his name.”

“Memories of that night still haunt me, sliding into my thoughts and dreams at will, uninvited and relentless. I chase them even when I know I shouldn’t, like a moth drawn to a flame–dangerous and painful, yet impossible to resist.”

“Even though the cautious parts of me are screaming that he’s trouble, I know without a doubt that I can’t resist the man in front of me. This close, he’s… inevitable.”

“It’s terrifying how easy this is. How natural it feels to touch him, to get lost in him, to ache for more from someone who is still little more than a stranger.”

“I wasn’t going to tell you this, but it’s funny, actually. I heard Remember My Name on the radio or something. It must have been when it first came out because it wasn’t too long after… And well, it reminded me of that night. I hated it at first, but then I kept listening. And the more I listened, the lighter I felt. Like someone else knew my pain.” — “Who would have ever thought it was the song he wrote to get over it.” — “I never got over it. That night. You. I could show you notebooks full of lyrics and thoughts that never became songs.”

“There’s something about him, about how this feels, that’s right. I think we’re meant to be together. That’s why I’ve been haunted by his memory all these years. It’s why the universe brought us back together.”

“He doesn’t just light up a room, he outshines the stadium lights he performs under night after night. He's extraordinary.”

“You’re thinking about it, right?” “Yeah, beautiful. I’m thinking about it. I’m always thinking about it.” (Stop fr🥹)

“I just want Jesse. He’s the only person who’s ever made me feel like this.”

“And you’re not allowed to die, anyway. I think we might be soulmates, Luc Martín. I’m keeping you.”

“I’m ready for you, baby. Take me. Take me and make me yours again. Use me. Again and again and again until you’ve ruined me even more than I already am.”

“All the what ifs drove me so far out of my mind that I lost myself. I was lucky enough to get a second chance to make up for walking out that morning, and I’m not going to take a single breath for granted.”

“I’m scared, but not enough to stop. Because maybe, just maybe, what we have together might be worth it.”

“More than anything, I feel happy–truly happy–and hopeful for the future. I’m motivated and enjoying life like never before. I look forward to every day that I get to talk to him, and every night brings me one day closer to the next time I’ll see him. I know it’s corny as fuck, but it’s how I feel. I’m pretty sure I’m in love. Like the gross, swoony fairytale kind.”

“I didn’t realize how empty my life was before I met you, and then before I met you again the second time.”

“You have an entire stash of my clothes, and you keep them in your panty drawer?” My lips twitch. “It’s the drawer of all the things that make me feel beautiful.” — “You’re always beautiful.” (Because why did this make me want to sob😭)

“How am I looking at you?” “Like you love me,” I blurt without thinking. “The way I love you,” I add, figuring I might as well get it out there.” — “I love you so much.” “I’ve loved you for far longer than the three months we’ve been trying to get to know each other.“

“Whatever happens from here on out, I’m with you. I’m not saying I won’t have moments of fear or nerves, but I will never leave you to face it alone again. No matter what happens, I’m fully in this with you, and nothing will change that.” (Crying now)

“All I can give him is my forgiveness and gratitude and my own steadfast promise that I’ll do everything in my power to protect him and the love we’ve found together.”

“You think you’re cute, but I got your daddy’s blessing today. I cannot, will not, sully a thing like that by engaging in premarital sex under his roof, lest he change his mind and chase me out with that shotgun Shawna warned me about.” I take a breath. “So take me out back and fuck me like the respectable gentleman I am, goddammit.” (Hahahaha)

“As electric as being on stage is, it’s nothing compared to the way every nerve ending in my body and brain comes to life when I so much as look at him.”

“My life is forever changed. But I’m less afraid than I was before, because I know what we have together is worth it. What we have is worth it. But I’ve never been good at words. Instead, I just tell him those three little words that mean so much more than words can ever express. “I love you.””

“For the first time, I don’t care. I don’t care what any of them see or think or say. I care about the way I feel when we’re together, about the way he looks at me and treats me like I’m the only thing that matters.”

“What are you doing?” — “Loving you,” Luc says simply, “out loud.” — “I needed to show you how serious I am. I don’t care who sees or photographs or talks about me, I can live through all of that. But I can’t live without you, Jesse.”

“There’s not a chance in hell I was going to risk you walking away again without showing you once and for all that I’m not afraid. I want you and whatever comes with that.”

“I still don’t know how I left that morning without even knowing his name. I built my entire life chasing the ghost of that connection. And somehow, after all the noise, the fear, the cameras, the chaos, we made it here. I know his name now. And I know without a doubt that he loves me as much as I love him.”

“It’s just a soft press of lips, but it’s more than that. It’s memories and love and family and everything we fought for.” — For the first time in forever, it’s quiet where it matters. And it’s ours.”

Remember My Name - Rebecca Rathe
5/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I have loved every single one of Rebecca’s books and I always recommend them to all my friends, but this is definitely one of my favorites that she has ever written.

This book was everything from the amazing found family, second chances, the best soulmates and oh man, just everything in between! This is one of the best rockstar/nfl pairings I have ever read and I really hope we get more stories like this. Luc and Jesse were everything from the moment they meant.

I have to say one of my favorite parts was when lovely Jesse was working on a plan to see him after so many years being apart. That scene was so cute and had me giggling because you got to see his excitement. And the accidental bidding and having his name and his teammates backing him up, that whole scene had me shook because ugh, so sweet!

And oh.my.god. the piercings! And the meaning of his piercings had me swooning because that’s not love, I don’t know what is?!

Lastly, I felt so bad for AJ! If you’ve read the book, you know exactly what I am freaking talking about! To be traumatized in such a way! I was rolling with laughter.

I’ve read me some amazing found family b it this was so good. From the coach to the body guards to even Luc’s dad showing Jesse the family recipes, this book was so cute!

And I have to know, is there going to be more books in this lovely series! I really loved how we got to see the life of how far the paparazzi would really go. Also, I really loved how introverted Luc really maneuvered his life. That was so beautiful to see him come out of his shell. This was so beautiful to see them come together from beginning to end!

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

4.25/5 stars 4.5/5 spice

Rebecca is one of those authors who I know I’m going to enjoy whatever book they release, and this one is no different. Jesse and Luc’s instant connection and insane chemistry was beautiful. Their one night stand really portrayed two souls becoming one and how much that night had impacted both of them, even years later.

Jesse has become a famous rockstar who has battled addiction and can’t seem to quiet the noise in his head. Luc is a NFL player who doesn’t want any attention, and sticks to his routine. When they finally reconnect, all of these things change. Luc quiets the noise in Jesse’s head and Jesse throws a wrench into Luc’s quiet, safe routine.

I really loved Jesse’s character and his utter obsession and devotion to Luc and their relationship. He did and was prepared to do anything to keep him and make him happy. Luc might have felt things for Jesse that he hadn’t felt for anyone else, but his main priority was his privacy, and at times it felt like Jesse’s feelings were an afterthought for him. I’m glad he was able to realise what was more important and fight for his man and relationship.

I adored all the characters in this from Luc’s best friend Shawna and his teammates who always had his back to Jesse’s whole team who supported him and his relationship. I really hope we got more books from this world because I know there’s good stories to be told about Naz and his bodyguard Shane, and Emmy and his boss Blake.

Soulmates

I love Rebecca Rathe Books. Each book just has so much heart and feels.

This starts out when 2 men meet randomly at the very beginning of their careers. They have an incredible night together. A night of passion and intimacy unlike both have ever had before.

Luc (pronounced Luce, like Lucy) wakes up and Jesse is gone, only to get drafted a week later. 6 years pass and Luce still thinks of that one night he had with that man.

“I’ve never been held like this, never been touched like this. Never been known like this. And the strangest part is, I don’t even know his name.”

Both men never exchanged names that night years ago. One day, Jesse sees Luc on the TV, playing football for the NFL. He goes out of his way in an elaborate fashion to see Luc, the man he dreams about still.

Jesse is a Rockstar, a global name. Luc is a man who does not want attention on him, forever doing his best to stay out of the limelight.

Well when you fall in love with a rock star and meet up with him after an unforgettable night 6 years ago, waves are bound to be made!

These two have such passion and an incredible connection. True soulmates vibes.

I don't want to spoil anything for you. They have their ups and downs and eventually do have a hea, it is a hard fought one though.

They are so sweet and so lovely.

A fantastic book as usual from Rebecca Rathe.

⭐️ 4.5/5 | 🌶️ 3.5/5

Second-chance romance isn’t usually a trope I gravitate toward, but Rebecca Rathe absolutely nailed it here. I think it worked so well for me because this second chance felt almost like a continuation of a first meeting — Luc and Jesse still had so much to learn about each other. Their story never felt weighed down by the past; instead, it was filled with discovery and possibility.

I loved how completely opposite Luc and Jesse were, yet how perfectly they fit together. Falling for each of them came effortlessly, both as individuals and as a couple. Their dynamic was balanced, natural, and incredibly easy to root for.

When it comes to spice, Rebecca Rathe always delivers. Luc and Jesse were wildly compatible in that department — intense, unapologetic, and deliciously filthy. Their chemistry leapt off the page and added an extra layer of heat to an already compelling story.

Remember My Name was deeply emotional, striking just the right balance with a well-measured touch of angst. It left a lasting impression and proved that even tropes I don’t usually love can completely win me over in the right hands.

Give me Rebecca and a rock star romance—and I'm totally in! I've been eagerly awaiting this book since it was announced, and I wasn't disappointed! I love the story of Luc and Jesse ❤️. After a perfect night six years ago, they went their separate ways and devoted themselves to their careers. Jesse is a world-famous rock star and Luc is a football player on his way to success. They have never been able to forget each other, and the question "What if..." is always present. They never even exchanged names, and only by chance and thanks to Jesse's efforts have they become part of each other's lives again. Can they rekindle the sparks and passion of six years ago? How do their lives and expectations fit together? This is a story about second chances, showing that love is worth reaching out to each other again and again and sometimes compromising together. That love and the right person can bring out the best in you.
As always, the spice is top notch 🔥🥵! And the story also captivated me emotionally. I love Rebecca's books, and this one is no exception. I can wholeheartedly recommend it!
