A personal account of many interesting social phenomena. It could be an introductory book for those who are not familiar with Finance and Economy. It provided perspectives from which we can interpret and reassess social events.
The first chapter revolves around microeconomics - demand and supply as well as the free market. Personally I like the second chapter the best because industry and innovation are more down to earth, especially when various deals and stories are provided. The third part is behavioral finance and psychology. I took a class on this topic and was very surprised to find that though prospect theory is getting a large volume of attention from the academic world, it is not an undergraduate level class in many schools because it complicates the economic person assumption and utility maximization assumption, which are essential to many fundamental economic models.
The author's pro-market and individualistic philosophy is inherent in the regulation and policy chapter. And this is again explained in the last chapter where he introduced the background of his opinions and methodologies.
