Evey writes heartwarming romances with steamy moments, often in small-town settings with an element of sports. An American from the Midwest, she now lives in a tiny country in Europe where it rains a lot. That is probably why she occupies her days typing away on her laptop with music on repeat and slow-roast coffee nearby. Oh, and she vows to never break up with cake.

I seem to be breaking out of my shell lately with books that have tropes I don’t normally read. Billionaire romances? Yes. Office romances? Usually a hard no.
But once more, I thought why the hell not? It’s my goal in 2026 to expand my horizons.
Clashing Hearts by Evey Lyon is an office romance that will absolutely knock your socks off. From the very first interaction, Julian and Savannah’s banter is sharp, witty, and downright addictive. Their dynamic had me smiling like an idiot one minute and kicking my feet the next.
What I loved most was how natural their chemistry felt. It wasn’t just tension for the sake of it. Every conversation, every argument, every lingering look built into something that felt real and satisfying. The push and pull dynamic they have? Immaculate.
Julian brings that classic swoon-worthy energy, but it’s laced with enough of a cocky edge to keep things interesting while Savannah holds her own in every possible way. She’s strong, she’s clever, and she doesn’t back down and honestly, we love a queen who can match the energy.
The banter between the two of them is hilarious and it only intensifies their chemistry. It was also so lovely to see Julian’s rough edges be buffered by Savannah’s sunshine attitude.
Also side note; that bonus scene that introduced the second book? Hell YES! I immediately had to tell my partner the tea so I won’t be skipping out on that one. ☕️😂
If you’re like me and usually avoid office romances, take this as your sign to give one a shot because this one might just change your mind.
I’m always here for a grumpy boss getting completely undone.
Julian and Savannah’s dynamic pulled me in quickly with their sharp banter and constant tension. The whole “impossible boss meets the one assistant who won’t quit” setup was so fun and kept things engaging from the start.
Savannah was easy to root for. She’s confident, hardworking, and quick-witted, and I liked that she never let Julian walk all over her. Julian takes a bit more patience. He’s frustrating at times, hiding behind that cold exterior, but watching him slowly soften and show up for her made it worth it. Their chemistry builds at a steady pace, and when they finally give in, it feels natural and earned.
It’s an easy, entertaining read with great banter, emotional moments, and just enough spice to keep things interesting. The third act conflict wasn’t my favorite and felt a little unnecessary, but it doesn’t take away too much from the overall experience.
A solid, entertaining romance that delivers on the feels.

Huge thank you to Evey Lyon & Hambright PR for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
2.5 This book was a disaster you couldn’t look away from. The writing was truly all over the place and I felt like I was on something reading it because the flow was so bad. However, I had to keep reading because I thought it was all going to fall into place eventually. Sadly it did not.
Do I dream about being a billionaire? Yes. Do I want to do the work that would make me a billionaire? No. Do I wish my husband was a billionaire? Yes. Do I want my husband to do the work to become a billionaire? No, I want him home with me all day everyday. Yes, I know I can’t have my cake and eat it too. But Savannah got pretty close.
Savannah May was living a comfortable life working as the executive assistant to the COO of a billion dollar company while finishing her masters degree in Business. All was well until her beloved boss dropped a bomb: he was retiring and reassigning her to be the assistant to the CEO, who can’t get an assistant to last for more than a week. To make it worth her while, he agrees to have the company pay off her student debt if she can make it work. In this day and age, how can she say no to that? So she packs her desk and heads upstairs to where the intimidatingly rude (and attractive) CEO awaits her. He already thinks she won’t last and wants to be extra hard on her to prove a point, but he wasn’t ready for Savannah’s snark and tenacity. One week bleeds into 2, to 3 and while their banter is heated, deals are flowing and they realize they actually work well together. But that tension.. it’s almost too much. When they finally give into it, they see it is more than just lust. Now, how to separate work from play? To keep it secret? That’s the question.
I don’t read many “billionaire” romance books but when I do, they are definitely entertaining. What a life to be able to blow money and do whatever you want. Good banter is like half of what us Booktok girlies look for and this one definitely has it. I’ll admit, the problem they have to overcome at the end irked me… but the HEA was satisfying nonetheless. Definitely worth a read!!
this book was adorable! I love a workplace romance and while it’s cliche I just love the grumpy boss x sunshine assistant trope! This one was so well done, I loved their banter and how the tension started slowly building up between them. Then that fvck it moment was just pure lust and indulgence, I was enraptured by their story and both of the characters. The plot was really fun, and there were a couple of fun twists there, and a couple of not so fun, bawl my eyes out twists too. In all honestly some things made me feel a little iffy about the fmc, however I still loved her for most of the book. I did love the mmcs transition from mean grumpy boss to whipped puppy dog eyes boss begging for her attention. Their banter was so fun, he’s just sending on stupid tasks just to see her and still so in denial, it’s hilarious. There is a third act breakup that personally I think didn’t have to be there, but that’s the only thing about the book I didn’t enjoy. Everything else about this was so fun and spicy, and overall a great lightish romance read. I give this a 4.5/5
Clashing Hearts started off so strong. The banter was sharp, the chemistry was there, and I was genuinely invested in Savannah and Julian. But somewhere along the way… it lost me. Once their relationship was established, everything shifted. Savannah went from smart and fearless to feeling childish and immature, and what could’ve been a simple conversation turned into one of the most over-the-top third act breakups I’ve read in a while. By that point, I didn’t even really care if they ended up together, which was such a letdown after how much I enjoyed the beginning. I kept hoping for some kind of redemption or growth, but it never really came. The dialogue also felt awkward and unnatural at times, which made it harder to stay pulled into the story. If it had kept that same energy from the first half, this easily could’ve been a favorite. Instead, I just found myself ready to be done.
Thanks to the author and Hambright PR for the arc in exchange for an honest review <3
Thank you to Evey Lyon and Hambright PR for the advance copy!
This was a cute workplace romance with a touch of small town charm. Savannah and Julian had great banter, and I especially loved the moments when they were forced to start working together. Savannah was definitely sassy and never hesitated to put Julian in his place, which made their dynamic really fun to read. Their chemistry was there, and I’m always a sucker for an MMC who turns into a softie for his girl.
I will say the conflict they needed to overcome wasn’t my favorite. I found myself wishing for a little more depth, and some of Julian’s responses felt a bit cheesy for me.
Overall, this was a cute, quick read, and the ending definitely left me intrigued about what’s to come for the next couple!
Clashing Hearts is an enemies to lovers, billionaire, small town vibes, age gap romance. I love the banter and chemistry between Julian and Savannah. She put him right in his place and it was exactly what he needed. I am a huge fan of Evey's writing and am so excited for this new series, it started off fabulous. I really enjoyed the connection to Everhope and cannot wait for Elodie and Hayes. Thank you Evey Lyon for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Insta love is something I just can’t get by especially if it’s not really written well. It’s been a month and I haven’t come back, so I genuinely doubt I’ll be able to finish it at all.
All opinions are my own and thank you to Hambright & the author for sending me this ARC!
Thank you to Hambright PR for an e-book ARC of Clashing Hearts, in return for an honest review.
I really enjoyed my time reading! The tropes of this book filled so many of my tick boxes.
Enemies to lovers? Check Age gap romance? Check Forbidden romance? Double Check Work-place romance? Check and underlined! Protective MMC? Check and cash me out!
I adored the interactions between all the characters, and how each of them played their roll. A book that has pretty basic side characters can really make or break a story. I loved how you felt the conflict of emotions and tension throughout, and when things come to ahead, you FEEL it down in your toes. It felt GOOD.
The overall story of Clashing Hearts revolves around our MFC, Savannah, who receives a promotion at work. She is now the new assistant to her boss. However, every assistant who has ever worked under Julian Haven has quit. And Savannah is anything but a quitter. Even though Julian makes her life difficult, with his brooding personality and harsh remarks towards her, she will survive. However, one thing Savannah doesn't expect is to see him in a different light. Which is a dangerous game to play... because how can she even consider Julian to be anything other than her boss? Not only is he older, but he's the reason she has a job. Savannah knows she shouldn't be stupid, however Julian has other ideas. Because when Julian wants something, he gets it. And what he wants more than anything, is to win over Savannah and make her his.
Savannah really had me from the start of Clashing Hearts. I could tell how much she loved her family (or, in this case, her auntie) and her friends. She's the kind of MFC I ADORE. Someone who won't be told no, and will stand up for herself. Savannah was a bad ass throughout. Throughout the story, I was rooting for her with my entire heart. Because when you want something badly, you will do everything it takes to make it work. And Savannah REALLY wanted to make things work, even if that meant looking for another job. The banter between Julian and herself was super thrilling, if not terrifying at times. Savannah was a joy and with how the story ended, I am VERY excited to see what happens in the future!
Julian, the typical grumpy/no-fun type of guy. He has a business to run, and naturally he will do what it takes to run it well. His hatred towards his father was clear throughout the book, and I really felt bad for him. Because underneath his iron-clad layer, he really was a softy. He cares for his best friend, and enjoys spending what time he can with his sister. What I loved about Julian though is that you see his character grow into something real. Because life is too short to live by the rules, and it was a joy to see him realise this. Although it would have some gran clutching at her make-believe pearls with the filth that comes out his mouth. Goodness... The end of the book made me super happy for him, and I can only hope he continues to live a joyful life!
Overall, everything about Clashing Heart was brilliant. If you love Billionaire romances, this is one for you 100%. Highly recommended, and I look forward to the next book in the series!
“You drive me f*cking insane. You are invading my life, and I can’t control that I’m letting you.”
This was a cute read and the story itself was definitely enjoyable. There was some great banter and tension between the MMC and FMC. What I liked about their dynamic is it didn’t totally follow the mean boss, sweet assistant trope that is commonly seen. He was “mean,” but in a kind of funny way, where he was trying to be a pain in the a** (and succeeding), and she gave his attitude right back. But at the end of the day, he respects her work ethic and was never truly mean on a personal level or derogatory towards her, which is refreshing. I also like that they knew each other a bit in their work setting before being forced to work closely with one another. So there was a familiarity to their dynamic, and a mutual respect between them.
‘ Julian turns and perches against the table with a fresh drink in hand. “Do I scare you?” “No.” I’m amused. “But I annoy you.” “Confirmed.” ‘
He feigns coolness and indifference, when in reality she’s a majority of his thoughts. She lives rent feee in his mind. Not that he would need the rent money—he IS pretty wealthy. These two go from hot to cold in a flash, and it’s mostly his doing. There was lots of banter and cute back and forth moments, with undeniable tension sprinkled in until they reached their “F**k it” moment.
I have to be honest and say that there was a unique writing style used here that I wasn’t able to connect with, personally. The narration and speech is often a bit awkward and hard to follow. The sentences didn’t really flow naturally—between the structure itself and the phrasing, I felt like I didn’t quite know which way was up. Like I could understand what was happening, it was just…awkward. And the awkward phrasing just took me out of it. It made scenes that were supposed to be funny or sexy or banter-y decidedly not feel the way that I believe they were intended. Here are a couple of examples.
“She is submitting to everything I want, from her own choice.”
“ I haven’t had a clear mind in a long time, and I have an idea why suddenly a moment of my life isn’t occupied by work; instead, I’m eased by relaxation.”
I really don’t want to be disparaging at all, I just have to be honest about this piece, because it does play a pretty significant role in how I felt overall about the book. I’m giving this a higher rating than I normally would in the interest of being as fair as possible. I truly don’t know if it was just me, my mood, my sleep deprivation 😂, etc., but I was not vibing with this one, unfortunately. And the awkward phrasing could be one of those things where the thought isn’t coming out how you intended—I have them daily lol. And maybe it just wasn’t caught through editing. So if anything, I’d say this one just needs another pass through editing to remedy the awkward phrasing throughout.

Thank you so much to the author and to Hambright PR for the review copy!
I enjoyed this read. It was easy and comforting, and for my usual reading style and genres I’d definitely consider it a palate cleanser. It was funny, lighthearted, and had some spice without being overly complex. It’s the kind of book you could easily read in a day.
The FMC grew up in a small town and was raised by her aunt after her parents died in a car accident. Her aunt owns a riverboat restaurant that’s a staple in their community. The FMC works as a secretary for a large company, and when her executive retires, she’s reassigned to work for the CEO, the MMC, who has a reputation for going through secretaries because, quite frankly, he’s a jerk. Naturally there’s tension between them, and their office dynamic slowly shifts as they start developing feelings for each other. It follows a classic office billionaire romance setup.
The main conflict comes when a development company plans to modernize the small town and turn it into a tourist destination, which would threaten her aunt’s riverboat restaurant and livelihood. What the FMC doesn’t realize at first is that the MMC’s family is involved in the deal behind the scenes. The MMC himself didn’t know about the plan because of long-standing tension with his father. He gave his sister his voting rights so he could distance himself from the family business. Unfortunately, his sister votes in favor of the development, without knowing about the romance, because it’s a deal that would make everyone a lot of money.
This becomes the main obstacle in the story, and the MMC ultimately steps in to save the day. For me, the conflict didn’t feel strong enough to push this into a four-star read. I think it would have been more impactful if the MMC had known about the development from the beginning and initially chosen business, only to later fall in love and choose her and her town instead.
Overall, it’s a fun, lighthearted office romance that works well if you’re looking for something quick, entertaining, and easy to read in a day.

Clashing Hearts is a fiery enemies-to-lovers romance that launches the Haven Crossroads series in style. This captivating romance is a spin-off from the Everhope Road series, giving readers a chance to revisit the world Ms Lyon has created while still delivering a story and a new series that can absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone.
With Clashing Hearts, Evey Lyon could not have asked for a better start to her new Haven Crossroads series.
And what a start it is.
This enemies-to-lovers romance ticks every box readers love—an engaging storyline, electric chemistry, and a heroine who completely steals the spotlight. Savannah is strong, determined, and refuses to be intimidated, even when she finds herself face-to-face with one of the most infuriating men imaginable. Honestly, she’s the kind of character that makes you think, I want to be Savannah when I grow up.
Then there’s Julian. The billionaire boss who burns through assistants at lightning speed, expects perfection, and has a reputation that would make anyone nervous about working for him. At times you’ll probably want to throw something at him—but that’s part of the fun. Because Julian is about to meet the one woman who won’t simply fall in line.
When Savannah is promoted to work directly for Julian, clashes are inevitable. Their sharp personalities collide instantly, leading to some brilliant banter and tension-filled moments. But beneath the arguments there’s been a simmering heat building between them for a long time. Now that they’re working closer together, that slow burn attraction is about to reach boiling point.
Packed with witty exchanges, sizzling chemistry, and a heroine who refuses to back down, Clashing Hearts is a brilliant opening to the Haven Crossroads series—and if this is the beginning, readers are definitely in for something special.
If you like: • Enemies-to-lovers romance • Billionaire boss dynamics • Strong, confident heroines • Banter-filled chemistry • Small-town interconnected series • Authors like Lucy Score, Meghan Quinn, and Max Monroe
A fantastic start to the series—sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the sparks flying. 💕📚
Oh how I love reading about grumpy detached men falling hard for the first time. It's always a delight!
The banter between Julian and Savannah was 🤌🏽. She was sassy and not taking his grumpy alpha routine....unless it suited her. Julian is the CEO of the company Savannah works at, and she just became his personal assistant. The catch though is that he's so awful to work with, PAs don't last but a few days.
When I tell you I devoured this story, I mean it. 🫠 Savannah was a great character. She was driven, hardworking, didn't want attention, funny, quick witted, a great friend, loyal, and I loved her with her Aunt in her small hometown. Julian is a massive jerk at first who has no idea what family is like. Talk about a foreign concept! Watching him go from alpha a-hole, to the best book boyfriend material was delightful. He has a yummy mouth to go along with his thoughtfulness and his desire to keep her at all costs.
I will say I didn't think it was very fair, the third act breakup. I won't give any details, but he really didn't know. But ohhhh watching him fix things was 🔥😈.
🫶🏽Lines: Congratulations. . . you are the one to break me . 😭
You might want to take more time off, then. We lose precious things if time isn't given.
I never understood how a heart could beat entirely for someone else. Most would say, including myself, that I don't even have a heart. But today simply proved how I have one, because it just completely broke, and I feel ever single shard. 😭
I'll chase you until your mine again. ❤️🔥
I did my best, considering I have whining children at home and a husband whom I could throttle daily...Lovingly, of course.
I've been waiting for you, and I will continue to do so. Except, you're too far, and I need you closer. I'm dying here.
ARC REVIEW: I have received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Clashing Hearts is the first book out of a 4 book series in Evey Lyon new series Haven Crossroads
Little spoilers ahead!
This is an enemies-to-lovers Forbidden romance with a small-town feel. Savannah (FMC) ends up becoming Julian’s (MMC) new assistant after he’s gone through several assistants already. When Charles, the company’s current CEO, is nearing the end of his career at Haven Crossroads, he gives Savannah the ultimate mission: become Julian’s assistant and try to make it work.
Savannah is already tied to the company since they helped pay for her degree, so saying no isn’t really an option. Things get even more complicated because Savannah and Julian have a 10-year age gap, and once they find out about the new arrangement, they’re both immediately on alert.
What neither of them wants to admit is that there’s been a quiet attraction between them for a while. Throughout the book we get plenty of tension, frustration, and some heated arguments between the two before they finally give in to what’s been building.😈
And when Julian falls… he falls hard. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Savannah, however, is determined not to let the relationship affect her career or make it seem like she’s “sleeping with the boss,” which adds another layer of tension to the story.
Without giving too much away, if you enjoy small-town romances and interconnected series, this is definitely one to check out. I’m excited to see where the Haven Crossroads series goes next.
Spice level for me: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5)

Thank you to Evey Lyon and Hambright PR for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader for Clashing Hearts!
The very beginning of the book had me very optimistic for how I would feel about this book. I wish I had been able to get more in the beginning of this story, more outlook into Savannah as a character and Julian's background. Without this deeper look into them I was left feeling like the plot of the book was a bit rushed. I ended up seeing Savannah as a very one-note character and seeing Julian as a very rude, unattractive man which made it so I wasn't really even rooting for them from the start and there wasn't really time for the type of tension that was spoken about to actually take root.
Once the two of them got together, my outlook didn't really change. Savannah remained one-note and Julian didn't indicate any interest in growing but suddenly was wanting to be better for Savannah and somehow just magically was.
Once the third act breakup came around Savannah suddenly had this, in my opinion, incredibly dramatic and emotional reaction when her character had never shown any sign of that type of behavior and Julian was the model boyfriend even though he had no idea how to even be a boyfriend. I pushed through to the end hoping in the end it would all come together and unfortunately didn't feel that it did.
Again, thank you to Evey Lyon and Hambright PR for the opportunity to read this ARC of Clashing Hearts- but with an interest in remaining an honest reviewer, I cannot give this higher than 1 star.

Clashing Hearts is a billionaire boss/enemies-to-lovers/workplace romance that kicks off a new series from Evey Lyon.
Savannah has been an executive assistant at her company for years, and has a stellar reputation. But when her boss, the COO, retires, she is reassigned to the prickly CEO, Julian — who has a reputation for never keeping an assistant for longer than a few weeks. It quickly becomes a battle of wills between Julian and Savannah, and I enjoyed the back-and-forth between these two. The banter is sassy and fun, and the heat between them is sizzling.
The relationship is further complicated when a development company threatens to shut down the riverboat dinner restaurant that Savannah's aunt runs. (Her aunt raised her after her parents passed away.) As it turns out, Julian's estranged father's business is the one behind the redevelopment, and that becomes the main source of conflict for the couple.
Overall, Clashing Hearts was enjoyable. I've read other books by EL that I enjoyed much more, but the breadcrumbs that were dropped for the future of this series interested me enough that I will definitely return to see what happens next in Haven Crossroads.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Clashing Hearts is a fun, spicy, tension filled workplace romance where Julian, the grumpy billionaire CEO and his sunshine-y, sassy personal assistant Savannah, seem to spark an insta- lust attraction that quickly ignites into tension filled yearning and firey love. I personally love a workplace romance story - it's how my husband and I first met years ago. 😊
I stayed up late into the night reading this book because I simply couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen with Julian and Savannah. I enjoyed their sassy banter, and Julian went from being this grumpy, insufferable Sasshole into a lovesick pup who would do anything to make Savannah his whole world - and he does!
"I'm sure you can follow instructions like a good girl." 🤭
"I don't care if you have to walk three feet, I'm walking you to your door because I'm a f*****g gentleman."
"Congratulations, you are the one to break me." 🥹
"You're mine." "Just don't hurt me." "I won't."
5/5 ⭐️ 4/4 🌶
I am excited to read the next book and get to know more about Hayes & Elodie after the twist at the end of book one.
Thank you to Evey Lyon and Hambright PR for my copy of Clashing Hearts in exchange for my honest thoughts and review.
Like every other woman, Savannah is determined to prove her worth through sacrifice and hard work. Her character is headstrong, strong, hardworking, and determined, which aligns with the thematic theme. She repeatedly encounters him to provoke us. We naturally enjoy the boss-assistant dynamic. Close proximity often leads to impulsive actions, which we secretly admire. The central theme revolves around two individuals clashing towards each other, resulting in love or distance, aptly named “Clashing Hearts.”
This is a slow-burn romance that is charming, whimsical, passionate, and conveys a sense of destiny. His keen observation of every detail enhances the storyline and reveals his character. Savannah notices his tone change when something is amiss, but her character is more of a listener who waits for him to share his feelings. It is his decision, not hers to pry. If they both express their feelings openly, the plot could progress more swiftly, leading to a happily ever after.
It is refreshing to see a man, for once, putting aside his differences to rectify his mistakes. You will undoubtedly enjoy this book. Their relationship will captivate you, and the ending is particularly captivating.
This book is about a boss and his personal assistant. They pushed together when he becomes her new boss. He is very stubborn and makes her life miserable. She is a very strong holds her own. They have so much banter going back and forth between them. She gives him everything right back and keeps him in his place. As the time goes on the pull they have towards each other grows stronger and then one night all bets are off and they get together. They then keep their relationship hidden so know one knows about it. Then they finally tell people and they find out that his father’s company is trying to get rid of her family’s restaurant in the near by small town. When she finds out she walks away from him even though she believes he really didn’t know. However he goes and finds her and does whatever he can to win her back even if it means blackmailing someone. The spice lever is high, there is plenty of banter and it’s a quick moving book. I feel like it wasn’t as well written as her other books and it does get confusing in some parts just because it’s all over the place. I like that it’s still set somewhat in Everhope and you do get to go back and see the town. I do recommend this book and really any of this authors books.
I had a really fun time with Clashing Hearts. I’m always a sucker for a workplace romance, and this one hit that sweet spot of grumpy boss meets the one assistant who refuses to be intimidated by him.
Julian has a reputation for running assistants off almost immediately, so everyone assumes Savannah will be gone within a week. Instead, she walks in with confidence, a great sense of humor, and zero patience for his attitude. Their back-and-forth was easily one of the best parts of the book. The banter was fantastic, the tension kept building, and it was fun to see Julian realize that Savannah might actually be his match. Savannah was a great character. She’s smart and doesn’t lose herself just because she’s attracted to her boss. I also liked seeing Julian’s character develop as the story went on. Underneath all that billionaire arrogance is someone who clearly needed a person like Savannah in his life to shake things up.
The workplace tension, small-town atmosphere, and little bit of spice made this a really easy book to fly through. This was a really good start to the series, and after that ending, I’m definitely curious about the next couple!
FMC: Savannah MMC: Julian Tropes: office romance, boss x employee, he falls first, billionaire, grumpy x sunshine, age gap Spice Rating: 2.5 Series: Yes | Book One in Haven Crossroads Series - Interconnected POV: Dual Cliffhanger: No
It’s no secret I love an office romance, especially when it’s mixed with the grumpy/sunshine trope. That’s exactly what I got with Evey Lyon’s upcoming release.
An aspect of this story and not something I think I’ve encountered more than once or twice is the attraction between characters (at least on his part) before entering into the boss x employee territory.
The banter is strong along with some inappropriate office flirtation between the two, but hey, I’m not complaining. The characters are enjoyable. I liked that even though the FMC didn’t think he was paying attention, the MMC remembered things that were important to her.
Another enjoyable contemporary romance by Evey Lyon. As always, I’m looking forward to what comes next. If you can’t wait until Friday, go check out the author’s Everhope Road series (available now). While Everhope is the FMC’s hometown, that series does not need to be read in order to read this one.
Thank you to the author and hambright pr for the advanced copy.
Many assistants didn’t survive Julian Haven, billionaire, business shark, and a walking storm cloud. Now, Savannah is lucky number seven on the assistant list. The one who’s supposed to run screaming before the ink on my contract dries. But she’s not like the others and he is having a hard time accepting that.
This was a cute workplace romance. Savannah is all sunshine whereas Julian is a grump who doesn’t like anyone challenging him. Savannah doesn’t hesitate to put him in place and she’s so sassy I love that! They had great banter and the chemistry was really good. I especially love a MMC who’s broody to the entire world but a softie for his one and only! I just wished for a little bit more depth to the story as some things felt a little too cheesy and the conflict at the end wasn’t really my favourite.
Overall this was a quick and fun read and I’m definitely looking forward to upcoming books in the series.
TROPES ✨ 👩❤️👨 Enemies to Lovers 💵 Billionaire Romance 🏢 Office Romance 🚫 Age Gap 🩶 Morally Gray Hero 🥰 He Falls First
Oooh, I absolutely love a sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance, and this one delivers in all the best ways. Sparks ignite from the very first moment between Julian and Savannah in this exciting new series by Evey Lyon, set partly in the charming small town of Everhope. Julian may be the boss, but Savannah is fierce, independent, and more than capable of putting him firmly in his place—and I loved every second of their push-and-pull dynamic. The tension between them is deliciously intense, their chemistry completely electric, and their sharp, witty banter had me hooked from start to finish. Every interaction crackles with heat, and the slow burn only makes it all the more addictive. You can feel the shift as their fiery clashes start to blur into something deeper, more vulnerable, and impossible to ignore. And when Julian falls… he doesn’t just stumble—he crashes hard, all in, heart first. Watching those walls come down and seeing the softer side beneath that commanding exterior was everything. This was a scorching, emotional ride with just the right mix of angst, passion, and heart—and I cannot wait to return to Everhope for more. 🔥💕
I rcvd an ARC of this book, all thoughts are my own. This is 3.5, rounded up to 4.
Clashing Hearts pulled me in right away. The witty banter, the undeniable chemistry, and the dynamic between Savannah and Julian had me fully hooked from the start.
But as the story progressed, it lost its momentum. Once their relationship became official, the tone shifted in a way that didn’t quite work. Savannah, who initially came across as confident and bold, began to feel more immature, and conflicts that could have been resolved through honest communication spiraled into an overly dramatic third-act breakup.
By then, my investment had faded. It was disappointing, especially after such a strong beginning, to feel indifferent about whether they ended up together. I kept waiting for meaningful growth or a moment of redemption, but it never fully materialized.
At times, the dialogue also felt a bit stiff and unnatural, which made it harder to stay immersed in the story.
Had the book maintained the spark and balance of its first half, it could have been a standout. Instead, I found myself just wanting to reach the end.

📖🅰🆁🅲 🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆: I absolutely adored this delightful charm. The playful exchanges between Savannah and Julian were simply perfect. While their storyline was somewhat predictable, it was undeniably entertaining and incredibly steamy. The only aspect I found less appealing was Savannah's reaction towards the end; without revealing too much, I felt she could have shown a bit more understanding, which would have eased the tension between her and Julian. However, this conflict did lead to a thrilling blackmail twist that I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, I loved the book, and as my first read by Evey, I’m now eager for the second installment in the series, Hidden Hearts.
Thank you Evey Lyon and Hambright_pr for the advanced copy!

I just finished Clashing Hearts by Evey Lyon and I absolutely loved it! 🤍
From the beginning, the tension between Savannah and Julian pulled me right into the story. Their personalities clash a lot at first, which makes their interactions so interesting and sometimes frustrating in the best way. I couldn’t stop reading because I wanted to see how their relationship would unfold.
Savannah is strong, confident, and not afraid to stand up for herself. Julian starts off arrogant and controlling, but as the story progresses you start to see his softer side. Watching his character grow and seeing their connection deepen was one of my favorite parts. 😊
The romance is passionate, emotional, and full of chemistry. Even with all the misunderstandings and struggles they face, their bond becomes stronger and stronger.
For a fact that it was cute, quick reads even I wanted to know the ending letting us hook and excited for the next couple!
This was a cute read and I overall enjoyed it. There were times when I was having a hard time following the conversations or relating to them but again, this was a cute book. I do love when a man falls first (and hard) so this really kept me going.
Julian hasn’t kept a steady secretary ever. No one can live up the job; no one is organized enough and capable of keeping him on task. He is known for being unruly and mean. Employees often get fired or run away screaming. Julian has come to terms; no one can do this… until Savannah. But she is distracting, for a whole other reason.
Savannah knows she is good at her job but ultimately, she wants more for her life in the future. She is working on getting her master’s degree and has it made at her company. That is until her boss decides to retire and throw a wrench in all of her plans.
✨ What to Expect ✨ 🏢 Workplace Romance 👨🏻💼👩🏼💼 Boss x Employee 🚫 Forbidden ⚡️ Enemies to Lovers 👀 Age Gap 💰 Billionaire Romance 😍 He Falls First
Clashing Hearts was exactly the office romance fix I didn’t know I was craving. Billionaire CEO? Check. Grumpy, controlling, filthy rich man with zero tolerance for incompetence? Also check. Sign me up.
Julian is the perfect storm of arrogance and intensity. He has no patience for his new assistant and makes that very clear from the start. What he doesn’t realise, of course, is that she’s about to become the one person capable of completely shifting his world. Watching that transition unfold was ridiculously satisfying.
The banter between these two? Top tier. Sharp, witty, and packed with chemistry. Their dynamic carried the story effortlessly, and I had so much fun watching them clash, spark, and slowly unravel each other.
And while I thoroughly enjoyed this one, I am beyond excited for book two. Hayes and Elodie already have me intrigued, and I cannot wait to see how their story plays out.
Office romance lovers, this one absolutely delivers.
