Out of all the jobs I’ve had over the years, this has to be the most mundane.
It requires me to be someone completely different. A meek, quiet girl working to put herself through college. I really do deserve an Oscar.
It’s easy money, though. And honestly, it almost feels like a vacation compared to the assignments I’m used to taking on.

His Lair is so good! This is my favorite book in the series, and it’s beautifully written.
It has secret identity, mafia elements, a Vegas setting, he-falls-first-and-hard energy, and so much more.
I loved Lailani for Sammie—they truly deserve each other. Sammie was utterly finished for her, but the feeling was mutual, which made their chemistry even better.
I love how the author wrote Sammie’s relationship with his mom with so much care and understanding. It added a really touching layer to the story.
The side characters were great too. They complemented Lailani and Sammie perfectly without overshadowing them.
This is a solid 4.5-star read and I definitely recommend it.

“His Lair” is the third book in the “Owning Vegas Series.” Sammi Russo runs a casino on the Las Vegas strip, right alongside Louie and Carlos. Louie Giuliani is the bossman and to “clean” the dirty money, he bought three casinos on the strip. Louie runs the Royal Flush, Sammie manages Wild Card and Carlo runs Aces High. The fourth person/friend is Emmanuel Lopez, Mexico’s most ruthless cartel leader. Together, they have each other’s back!
Lailani Miller is a top assassin and Emmanuel hirers her. He sends her to Las Vegas to protect Louie as someone is trying to make moves on him and take him out. Her persona is to be the typical college girl working her way through school and to stay under the radar. They are not to know that she works for him. “I need someone I can trust in Vegas. I’ve gotten word that something big is about to go down and I happen to have friends I don’t want getting caught in the crosshairs.” As part of her disguise, she is working the front desk at the Royal Flush Casino. She is here to watch and observe only.

1st time I’ve ever given Kylie Kent an average rating
The book was ok. Story picks up where the second one leaves off. However the back story gets really monotonous with the MMC thinking the FMC is innocent and too good for his world. All the characters come together and the story wraps up quickly with a HEA. I’m definitely looking forward to Emmanuel and Evie’s book but this one, in my opinion, was just okay.

I absolutely loved Sammie and Lailani's story! We got glimpses of these two in the previous books, and finally getting their full story was fantastic! Their chemistry was offthecharts, and the way they brought out the best in one another (despite the secrets) had me melting. I love seeing all the characters come together and continue to grow their found family. I can’t get enough of this series, and now I need Emmanuel and Evie's story!

Kylie my friend, smashed it once again.
it was captivating - i enjoyed this so much. to finally read Lailani and Sammies story was the highlight of October!!! I love the timeline of this one how it was interconnected with the other 2 was spot on. 10/10 would recommend. 4 out of 5 stars because I just needed a little more spice to get that 5 haha whoops.

Lailani is a force to be reckoned with. A professional assassin and overall baddie, she is hired by cartel boss Emmanuel to keep an eye on his mafia friends in Vegas. When she meets Sammie Russo, an associate of the casino where she is undercover as a receptionist, they fall into a purely physical relationship that quickly becomes something neither of them can ignore. But the Lailani Sammie thinks she is does not exist, and the question becomes what happens when he discovers the truth about her real identity.
Out of all the Vegas guys, Sammie was the most fun in previous books and I was excited to finally read his book. And he did not disappoint because of how level headed, obsessed, and in love he was. My man fell for Lailani SO hard. His golden retriever tendencies mixed with his unhinged behaviour had me giggling because he really was the full package, green flags and red flags blended together in the most chaotic and wonderful way.
And Lailani was so COOL. Once her true self came forward and she was able to be completely herself, I could not help but think, wow this girl is awesome (I am sure Sammie felt the same). She was ruthless, a tiger in a kitten costume, and watching her try to contain her true nature was hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. But there was also a softness to her, a vulnerability that came from wanting to avoid heartbreak and it made her even more endearing.

The way they both came to terms with their feelings and the truths surrounding them was so satisfying. Their chemistry was incredible, both physical and emotional, and I was rooting for them the entire time. I loved the pace of their relationship, especially once everything came to light and all the cards were on the table. Not once did Sammie try to suppress Lailani’s profession or passions. He respected her and took her seriously instead of trying to change her which made this couple feel real and whole in every way.
It was a truly solid read, with not a single dull moment in Kylie Kent’s world of characters. My expectations were high and they were completely and utterly met. I loved how interconnected the plot was with events from previous books, bringing certain moments full circle and adding to the whirlwind of emotions. I am never disappointed by a Kylie Kent book and The Lair has only solidified my love for her writing and the fun of jumping into the worlds she creates so effortlessly.

Lailanie est une 'assassin', elle est envoyée par Emmanuel (sont-ils amis telle est la question) comme espion dans le casino de Sammie.
Les différents livres de cette série se recoupent énormément, on revoit des actions que l'on a déjà vu. Je recommande vraiment de lire les livres dans l'ordre ! On a déjà plusieurs glimpses de Lailani et Sammie via les livres précédents.

J'ai vraiment aimé l'histoire du début à la fin, pas de frustration, histoire courte (250 pages) donc évidemment le rythme est très rapide, mais il y a quand même une histoire, une évolution des sentiments entre les personnages etc.

This is the third book in the Owning Vegas series. In this book we learn about Sammie and his past. Sammie manages the Wild Card Casino while his friends run the other ones. From day one, Sammie is smitten with Leilani, the girl at the reception desk at the Royal Flush casino. He always find ways to talk to her, even if it’s to look for his friends knowing where they are already. During the first and second books, there’s hints of him talking to Leilani, but we don’t know if they have anything. In this book, we confirmed that they do have something going on, but they’re keeping it low-key. Sammie knows something is off about Leilani, but he lets it go because he really likes her and hopes she will tell him. What will happen when he finds out the truth about her?
Leilani loves her dangerous life. She goes wherever the money is worth it. When she is hired for a lot of money she takes the job. She has to pose as a college student to work the front desk at the Royal Flush casino. It’s a normal job but then she gets attached to the people she works for and starts seeing Sammie. She starts worrying and feels guilty that he will be upset when he finds out the truth. She knows this feeling has an end date, but she really likes Sammie. Unfortunately, unusual circumstances have her blowing her cover, and Sammie finds out. Knowing he’s gonna hate her she still has to stay because she has a job to do. What will happen between them? Will give her a chance to explain?
Kylie Kent took us back to sin city and the underground. We got to know a bit more about Sammie. I felt bad for him because he really liked Leilani. When he found out, she wasn’t who he thought she was, he was very disappointed. I also felt bad for Leilani. She really liked him. Even though she knew they didn’t have a future, she was enjoying her time with him. The guilt was eating at her, and there were many times when she wanted to tell him. Their chemistry was amazing. Their scenes were really hot. There were some things that I did not see coming. I love seeing all the people together. They have the best scenes. This story was filled with drama, heat, humor, action, and twists. I’m so excited there is one more book.

This is book 3 of four, and it was probably my favorite. Sammie is funny as hell. I loved his inner dialogue. This is very instalove as he sees Leilani and is down bad. He does try to ignore it. It isn't super clear if he hooks up with other chicks after he sees her and is taken by her. I think he did, but it isn't talked about, really. Anyway, he is persistent and gets her to go out with him.
I won't give too much away, but there is more to her than meets the eye, and it was a welcome surprise. It might be why this was my favorite. Well, we learn her little surprise toward the end of the 2nd book, but it's fully unpacked in this one. Truthfully, she is one of the few FMC's that I've not found annoying!
All in all, this is a fun read, took a few hours, and I was into it. As I said, this isn't revolutionary literature, but if you go into it with the understanding that it's fun, fluffy, and don't expect an expanded plot with details of the wallpaper or super in-depth world building, you will like it. I view reading books like this as I view action movies: It is unlikely, over the top, and sometimes ridiculous, but it serves its purpose: entertainment and escapism.

As I said, this isn't revolutionary literature, but if you go into it with the understanding that it's fun, fluffy, and don't expect an expanded plot with details of the wallpaper or super in-depth world building, you will like it. I view reading books like this as I view action movies: It is unlikely, over the top, and sometimes ridiculous, but it serves its purpose: entertainment and escapism.

Sammie and Lailani tell us their story in His Lair, and it melded in perfectly with the rest of the series.
Sammie is the third of the life-long friends that own/run Casinos in Vegas, among other activities. While Louie and Carlos have gotten their dream girls and are happily married all we know from the earlier books is that Sammis and Lailani are sneaking around.
His Lair goes back a little in the timeline to when Louie meets Charlotte. There are a number of scenes we say from Sammies and Lailani’s POV. Kylie does a brilliant job jumping back in the storyline without having us feel like we’ve been there and done that.
Sammie is a pretty level-headed guy, and he’s got a pretty easy-going attitude. That is until it comes to those he cares about, particularly those in his found family. He’s had eyes on Lailani since she started working for the casino but has kept his distance. Now though he can’t stay away any longer.
Lailani is not who we think she is and although there was a surprise moment in Carlo and Antonia’s book we didn’t know how she managed it. Now though we get to learn what a badass she is and find out that she is much more connected than we had any idea about.
The biggest problem these two had were the secrets hidden between them. Well, that and the danger that seems to be plaguing them from Louie’s book of course.
There are a couple of little twists thrown in the mix to keep us wondering as well as a good amount of suspense/danger.
His Lair was another great book by Kylie Kent, and I can’t wait for the Owning Vegas spin off with Emmanuel and Evie. For now, we get to enjoy this awesome book.

Kylie is one of my all time favorite authors and I will read anything she releases. Her Vegas interconnected series has been one of my absolute favorites! This is book 3 but can be read as a standalone but why would you? Read them all!!
Sammie
Best friends with Carlo and Louie (previous two books) and is part owner of the Wild Card. He trusts no one fully. One look at the new girl hired as a receptionist he knew she was it. He tried to stay away because she didn't belong in his world but little did he know. I love how open and accepting he is and how he supports his friends always.
Lailani
A hired killer who blends in with her surroundings. She was hired by E to keep his Vegas friends safe. She plays an innocent sweet girl but she is more than that. She realizes she stayed too long in Vegas because she's become attached to them. She seriously is the coolest most badA FMC ever. She's unhinged and giggly and I wish to be here.
I loved that we get a glimpse of E way more in this story and it made me laugh at their "not" friendship. I absolutely loved how he thought he was the dark one then found out the naive shy girl is a trained killer who was sent there to keep him and his friends safe. The secret spy trope is a fav of mine now haha. This book was impossible to put down and even though I've been struggling to focus on reading I could not stop. It was insanely good and I'm still giggling from reading it (I'm unhinged too)

Love a good Lair
I know this book is about Sammie, but man I fall more in love with E every new book and can't wait for his story to come out. Loved meeting him through Lailani's perspective! I'd love to read a spin off of some of their backstory before she takes the job in Vegas. And maybe some more about His Lair? 😆
Knowing Lailani is the assassin throughout the whole book creates a really nice contrast against Sammie. Not quite a complete foil, because they complement each other in other ways also. I hope Lailani continues to make appearances in later books because I really like her! She's probably my favorite so far out of the Owning Vegas books. I like how well she knows herself yet she shows just enough vulnerability without it taking away from her badassery. 🤷🏼♀️ (no other way to describe it!) Now knowing Lailani's backstory I need to reread books 1-2 to see her character's growth.
It must be the Kylie Kent style, but I do find that the plot moved pretty fast paced in these books. There's still enough depth, chapter development, and romance to round it out. (Plenty of romance, but not too much!) Overall it kept me engaged and not wanting to put it down. I ended up finishing it in one day; which is a blessing and a curse because now I'm back to waiting until February for Emmanuel and Evie's story. I have a feeling they are going to steal the show.

Emmanuel wanted to keep an eye on his friends, Louie, Sammie and Carlo as he believed there was something going on in Vegas and he wanted to ensure his friends are protected. This is where Lailani comes in. She portrays someone who is innocent and meek but this is far from the case, and while she is in Vegas she catches the eye of Sammie.
To put it truthfully, similar to all of the MMCs of the series Sammie falls hard and fast. Lailani initally tries to keep a professional boundary between them and the main reason for this is because she is lying about a part of her life, but she soon comes to realise there is no escaping Sammie’s charms.
This book is a nice quick and spicy read, and I’m ever so excited for Emmanuel and Evie’s story. I want to thank the author and her team who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭

Things start to heat up between Sammie and Lia but she wants to keep it hush hush for now.Someone shoots at Carlos but his wife gets hit instead, then Lia fines out that someone is out to kill Sammie and in the mean time Lia watches Jizzy Carlos daughter and one time someone trys to get in the penthouse where girls are staying.Lia nows her time with Sammie is getting limited and she has a secert she is hiding but he kind fines out when she kills a guy in her apartment. Now his mother has come back in his life and says she is getting married. They fine out he is a dirty cop and Lanilani takes him out.This story sure wasn't boring,it was exciting!

So, listen I loved E and her (not) friendship *wink wink*, they were so wholesome and wonderful together. I enjoyed reading the friend’s stories from this characters POV, I absolutely loved reading again about Jazzy, ugh! I missed her so much. But this two characters were so meh, that I don’t even see the point of them existing. Non the less, It was a fun read, but the “conflict” in this book I’m afraid it wasn’t explored properly, what happened with the Santiago’s ? What happened with the mother? She was presented as a bitch pretty much, and at the end, she was just a victim. I’m supposed to feel sorry for her or what ? I enjoy this series very much, but honestly would it kill the author to expand on the plots a bit more ? Every single book leaves me with more questions than answers, and with this one in particular, I think this was the end, no? I mean… I don’t know how to feel anymore hahaha. I’m waiting so bad for Evie and Emmanuel’s book!!!

Kylie has outdone herself! I read this book twice and it was amazing both times. I loved Sammie. He’s a morally grey, filthy, dangerous, sweet golden retriever. One minute he’s funny or flirty or joking around and the next he’s t*rturing someone. And add to that his sexiness, filthy mouth and hot demands and he’s the complete package. Lailani is one of my favorite fmc’s ever. She is such a strong, bad@ss woman who is also so funny and kind. I loved her relationship with E even though she swore they’re not friends and I loved how she treated Jazzy. She was so protective. Not just of Sammie but of the whole group. And when she became m*rdery, either from jealousy or to protect them, it was my favorite. The plot was amazing too! It was funny and sweet and dangerous and action packed. It was pure perfection!
