"Your reckoning is at hand" "Thanks I was just thinking I need a good 'reckoning'"
I felt this was a volume of missed opportunities here... The main element being....what Wolverine may have done that would have greatly affected Peter's life. Seemingly resolved by the end....but it could have formed a wedge between them that could have played out in many corners of the MU. Plus Peter's sister turns up.
At first I was kinda iffy on the book but middle ground on it really blew my expectations out the water art work is genuinely amazing and the story buildup is amazing
An action-packed romp with Marvel's best superheroes. Marc Guggenheim has penned a Marvel team-up book that has an old-school feel with some amazing modern visuals. In all actuality, Kaare Andrews' artwork is the star of the book. Much of the action can't be contained on the page. This is what happens when you get a good writer and artist together, because this series is, without a doubt, the most exciting and fun series Marvel has out on the stands. The plot is pretty simple, Wolverine receives some important information from a former government operative that could spell sudden doom for the men & women in the spy industry and could endanger the families of the noble heroes that risk their lives to protect the nation & the world. He needs someone with the scientific know-how to get past some sophisticated security, that's where our other hero, Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, comes into play. Of course, things don't go as planned as the duo of Spider-Man & Wolverine are lured into a trap by a group of their longtime foes, Omega Red, Kraven the Hunter, & Mysterio. Some other rouges show up later, but it is the banter and conflict between Spidey and Logan that is the heart of the book. The book moves at breakneck speed, with some bonkers action scenes that will have longtime Marvel fans grinning from ear to ear. Kaare Andrews' pencil work brings some flashy and eye-popping energy to the fights. The colorist here does a great job. I wish we were getting this much creativity in the main continuity, but as an X-Men & Spider-Man, I am glad this series exists. If you enjoy this book, here are a few other great comic book team-ups I have read recently: Wolverine/Gambit: Victims, Batman/Deadpool #1, Batman/Spawn 2022, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern & X-Men/Fantastic Four: 4X.
I wanted to get this series because the cover art looked amazing, but I’m glad I waited to read it in free digital volume form. The story just isn’t that great, relying on weird teleportation bracelets to try and give you a greatest hits of Wolverine and Spider-Man villains, while trying to ret-con classic story arcs and introduction a new villain who apparently dies for the conclusion of the first 5 issues. Having Spider-Man get mad and fight Wolverine never left me wanting more; maybe we needed a good foundation form their actual team-up before they turned on one another?
This thing starts off as a bit of a mess. Wolverine and Spider-Man get drugged and start hallucinating that they are in each other's past. But how would they know of those pasts? It doesn't make a lick of sense. Then it becomes about how Wolverine may have been involved in the death of Peter's parents which is an interesting idea. You didn't even need to do the confused memory thing in the first place other than Kaare Andrews probably just wanted to draw it. I did not like the art in this. Andrews's art has gotten way too chaotic and the issue that Gerardo Sandoval did is even worse.
Solid work and the mixing of both heroes backgrounds, rogues gallery and some proper shady dealings from Wolverine's past gave this some proper guts.
The art delivered on all fronts, with extra care taken to emphasise the damage both Spidey and Wolverine did to one another. Honestly, I'd forgotten just how much censors made cartoon Spider-Man would hold back!
Good voice for the characters but it feels like it can’t decide if it wants to be a fun greatest hits adventure or a serious dramatic arc. Seems like it wants to be the latter more but I think it’s more successful when it is being the former
Felt like a knockoff of Avengers Civil War the movie
This felt like someone just reskinned the MCU Civil War movie, I hated it. I probably wouldn't have been a fan of it if it felt original, but that it apes the same major plot points made me like it that much less by association.
The Story and the art are above average, but The whole Peter Parker's parents were secret agents, felt tired when it was sprung on us many years ago, and isn't any fresher trying to make conflict between Peter and Logan here.
I liked it and forgot about it as soon as it was finished. The perfect 3 star graphic novel. I look forward to reading and then forgetting about volume 2 in a few months.
While the smooth and glossy cover was rather pleasant to hold and look at, the story proved underwhelming, no more than an excuse to get people to fight.
Hatte echt viel Spaß beim Lesen. Spider-Man & Wolverine sind ein echt cooles Duo. Ich bin auch sehr gespannt wie es weitergeht nach der Enthüllung um Logan und Peters Eltern.
