Having finally completed the trials to join the Roaring Mountain, Casey has earned the support of the clan and access to their considerable resources. Both Maude and Magnus are backing him completely, encouraging Casey to do everything he can to be ready for the next challenge that comes along.
At his back, he has two true friends. Einar Riggsson, the first drengr that Casey met in this world, and Vibeke Ylvasdottir, a fierce warrioress who has already proved a staunch ally through bloody conflict.
With these friends to aid him, Casey is ready to see what opportunities await him within the borders of the Windsong Valley and the halls of the Roaring Mountain. But with the comforts and opportunities of a clan come the challenges of other drengr and the exterior threats that hunt them.
On the horizon, a dark cloud rises. For each opportunity that awaits in this new place, a deadly threat readies its claws. Casey will have to show his true grit as a warrior if he is going to survive the challenges that await him.
Steelforged Legacy is a progression fantasy, men's romance, Western cultivation story that takes heavy inspiration from classic cultivation and combines it with an alternate take on Norse mythology. Even the gods can't always see the future right, and in this world, sometimes even the Fates can make mistakes.
I finished this book, but I didn't enjoy it that much. That is despite the fact that the MC now appears to be moving towards a harem, since he now has 2 lovers.
The woman inhabiting his sword can now manifest in the world as a woman. That was a long time coming, and helped a bit. As did the new elemental woman joining them and becoming a lover. But the MC still spends a majority of his time communicating with them mentally, which means his interactions with other humans is limited. And that really hurts the dynamics of the book.
The book is very light on combat/conflict. That is also not helping the series, as it feels like it is stuck between Slice of Life and Adventure.
I'm on the fence about reading the next in this series.
Everything in this book is greatly appreciated and can't wait for him to meet her brothers JoJo and Fenier. Something tells me they are going to kick some ass with the 8 of them. I just really hope no one dies because they are all awesome characters. Once again you hit it out of the park.
The elemental Rowan joins Casey as he and his two friends continue to train and progress. Animal companions join, and the clan queen takes notice of Casey. Excellent editing. Fascinating series blending Nordic and Irish mythologies in unique ways.
Wonderful Story with characters who grow and develop. Consistent world building and emotional engagement which is all too rare. Looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
Great new entry into the series! Casey grows stronger, but in a way that is still logical, even if quick. He continues to develop his relationships, friends and more, and is just very well written.
Another great installment. Good character development and storytelling. I realy enjoy the cultivation/ Norse mythology Mashup. It works great and is lots of fun.
