Deception’s End Book Six in the Vows of Power Series
By E.L. Beth

Love was never meant to survive between lies and vengeance.

Petal thought she had endured the worst — Ethan’s betrayal, Stephan’s cruelty, and the relentless torment that followed. But when Ethan Leary returns, her shattered heart faces a new kind of devastation. He’s not the man she loved, nor the one she feared — he’s something far more a man with nothing left to lose.

Bound by lust, guilt, and a history soaked in deceit, Ethan and Petal are caught in a cycle neither can escape. His obsession burns as fiercely as his hatred. Her shame festers beneath the scars of what was done to her. The Leary name has always carried blood and power, but now it carries ruin — and Petal stands at the center of it all.

As truth unravels and loyalties crumble, Ethan must face the darkness he created… and decide whether his love for Petal will destroy her or finally set her free.

Because when all vows are broken and every deception exposed, only one truth remains—
some love stories were never meant to have a happy ending.

What can I say about this trainwreck?

I picked up this book out of sheer curiosity. I wanted to know how the story in the series unfolds. The only heroine I’ve ever cared about in this series is Nia. But even she’s slipping faster than my will to finish the series. In this installment, she’s even more of a doormat/loser which I did not think was possible. And that’s saying something, considering EL Beth’s heroines usually come with a complimentary spine removal for at least half the book. Rooting for Nia now feels like cheering for a soggy tissue in a windstorm.

And then there’s the Ethan/Petal/Stephan triangle—or should I say, musical chairs of emotional dysfunction. Honestly, I couldn’t care less who ends up with whom in this triangle. Petal could marry a houseplant and I’d still be emotionally uninvested.
