Emerging from the shadows sometimes means shaking hands with the devil

Cora Holland is the internet's angel.

Well... she was.

Until the man she trusted to keep her safe became the very monster she needed protecting from. After rebuilding her life in the shadows, she's finally ready to step back into the light.

But some pieces of her life still feel stolen. Losing her outlet of painting, the only thing keeping her grounded, being one. The other? Her freedom.

All thanks to Marcus Romano, formidable head of Romano Security, and the one man who can't forgive himself for letting her down.

The case cuts too deep, and Marcus trusts no one but himself to keep her safe. So he steps into her world as her shadow. A shadow she doesn't want. A shadow who won't let her go.

Worlds collide as these two clash, but the longer they spend chasing their ghosts and realising how much they share beneath her forced smiles and his brooding walls, the more they uncover that in the wreckage of everything they've lost, they just might find the one thing worth saving.

I’m stuck on my overall rating, so I’m going to settle on 3.5* rounded down!

I admittedly did enjoy this the most out of all three books so far, but at times it felt too long.

I loved the mystery of who was behind the texts and sabotage, but when it came to fruition it was over so quickly.

the ending is left ambiguous, so we don’t really know what happens next with cora and marcus—and after just shy of 500 pages, I wish it was more clear.

I also wish we could get that conclusion from their perspective, but knowing the fourth and final instalment is about daisy and jesse, it’ll not feel as fulfilling.

overall I did enjoy this, and it is my favourite out of the books released so far.

I’m looking forward to see what the author has in store for the final book—and future magical releases!

i realised if the world ended right now, i wouldn't care. because cora holland was asleep in my arms, all while i was falling deeply, and irrevocably in love with her.

i was so glad to be back at liberty grove, i had the pleasure of reading wonderstruck as an arc earlier this year and am so thankful once again for the opportunity 💜

i didn't have any expectations going in, knowing i would love the influencer x bodyguard dynamics and it delivered. this hate to love romance was written perfectly, once you read this you'll understand the reason she hates him and why he doesn't adore her right away. cora was assaulted by her previous bodyguard and ever since then she hasn't been able to leave her house for months, terrified of something happening. when she's trying to go back to school and into the real world - she needs a new bodyguard. and what better option than the owner of the company?

marcus is ashamed of himself for letting someone fall under his nose that turned out to hurt his clients and not protect them from the one thing that started this company. he'd do anything to keep cora out of harm's way and watch over her every second, even doing as much as moving in next door.

these two are both guarded and have many walls up to avoid being hurt and vulnerable with others. both of them have carried hurt and pain for some time. this was a beautiful book with healing and mental health rep.

i loved how cora and marcus became each other's safe place, the one they'd run to when they were feeling down or scared. it was so so precious to see marcus letting cora in and telling her everything. it was hard for him at first when their relationship started to progress since it was harder for him to express his feelings – but he did and his quiet confessions 🥹

i'd definitely recommend this series to those who love female friendships, found family, mental health rep, and an underrated romance series!!

i do think the next book is going to hurt like hell, best friends with miscommunication and years of longing and unsaid words? oh gosh

thank you so much to holly for sending me an arc <3

“I knew you’d be the death of me, Cora Holland.”

this story follows cora holland, who used to be a popular influencer and artist who is known as the internet “angel”, up until a man she thought she trusted to protect her betrayed her. she has been gone for months and has now decided to come back into the limelight, but needs a new security detail and has to be with the one person she never wanted. this is when marcus romano comes in, who is the head of romano security and can’t forgive himself for what happened to her and decides that he trusts no one but himself to keep her safe and that he will be her shadow. but as they start spending more and more time together what once started as protection turns into much more…

as always another amazing story from holly!! the storyline was so fast paced and interesting to read, and that plot twist?!? it was so SO good! i also really loved the banter between these two, every time marcus and cora would banter, i swear i had a grin on my face while reading. the romance as always is just incredible, there is so much emotional depth between these two characters, it was really nice to see their character development grow both by themselves and with each other throughout the story! also just need to highlight my man MARCUS ROMANO🤭🤭 he is genuinely the definition of obsessed and yearning for his girl i loved it so much and you could really tell how much love he has for cora! overall an amazing read!

thank you so much holly jukes for the eARC!

at this point i'm convinced that holly jukes can absolutely do no wrong. this book was just so cute and i loved EVERY second of it (and the playlist is a vibee all around!) 🥹

i read moonstruck about 3 weeks ago and it's the first time i've binged an arc in under 24hrs; i just couldn't put it down.!! cora & marcus were both such amazing characters and i loved loved loved everything about their journey, right from their initial banter to ending up moonstruck about each other🤍 they truly are the embodiment of resilience and their relationship was so healing and beautiful to come across! (marcus romano- twin to my penguin obsessed self- you really raised the bar and have engraved yourself as my new fav book husband 🐧🤭)

the writing style was amazing, all the tropes/ microtropes in this book were executed to perfection, and that plot twist?! i'm still not over it😭 the only thing that kept me from giving this one ♾ stars was that i felt the last few chapters were rushed through.. i would've loved to see a little more of our beloved characters & their lives after the big reveal, and a few loose ends tied up. nevertheless, i can't wait for daisy's book next! thank you to the author for the e-arc 🫶🏼

yeah wrap it up 😭😭

at first, i actually liked the bodyguard dynamic, and i thought it was interesting to have him volunteer himself due to the nature of her attack. the trauma she held was pretty consistent in the beginning, and Cora really stood up for herself a lot. however, at like 60% i genuinely just couldn’t do it anymore. you’re telling me she’s having flashbacks to the night of her assault while just kissing someone earlier in the book, but she’s COMPLETELY okay with GETTING ✌️ BY HER BODYGUARD IN A TELEPHONE BOOTH?? i’m sorry, im lost. she JUST said, i think like 2 chapters prior, that she is still nervous to change in her hotel room in fear of being watched. and we’re ALSO aware that she has someone stalking her at all times. we’re ALSO aware that her bodyguard is extremely protective over her, but suddenly they’re both okay with her being nude in PUBLIC in a telephone booth (which is made up of 4 walls of windows, in case anyone is unaware) despite all of that.

this also stems into the age difference. the whole telephone booth thing felt so immature to me, like sneaking a quicky in before someone catches you. this would be fine if they were both like 19 or 21. HE IS 27 YEARS OLD. to me, all i’m thinking is she deserves wayyy better than this. ts just ghetto.

also, they have an age difference, but there’s literally no conversation about it, nor is there an inner monologue (for as far as i got in the book, at least). i was expecting at least one of them to think even ONCE, “hmm he/she is older/young than me by 6 years. i’ve never dated someone with an age gap, i wonder how this will go?” like 😭😭 6 years isn’t crazy, but it definitely is enough to think about. maybe it’s due to the fact that it feels like the author forgot that marcus is literally pushing 30, because his inner monologue feels more juvenile than the 19 and 20 year old male-povs in the last 2 books.

this book is also no different from the others in its series in that the writing is extremely inconsistent, and it is in great need of editing.

also, again, the lazy white author streak continues, and the male lead MIGHT be latino. maybe. who really knows, because he only mentions Chile twice in the entire 63% of the book that i read, one of them not even being about himself.

wish i could’ve enjoyed this book, but alas. i wish the author luck in their future works.

“She was the moonlight when the street lamps weren’t working. The lighter edge of a storm cloud. She was the kind of rain that you enjoy, the kind that makes you wish for winter to be a yearly season. She was all parts of the world that I liked and the parts of myself that I didn’t.”
I am on the floor because WHAT DO YOU MEAN MARCUS ROMANO ISN’T A REAL PERSON?!

I was so lucky to receive an arc copy of the third instalment of the Liberty Grove series and holy hell was it worth the wait! Holly has done it again people, I didn’t think anything could top Finn and Rory but I fear Marcus and Cora may have just done it 💜

This book is for all of the girlies who love a bodyguard, enemies (on Cora’s side, who are we kidding - Marcus would literally lay down in traffic for her) to lovers romance. Marcus Romano may have become the book boyfriend, as soon as I got his first pov chapter I knew it was over for me. His literal main goal in life is to keep his girl safe, he calls her angel for gods sake!! Like seriously I LOVE THIS MAN! I really enjoyed his backstory and diving deeper into the sensitive man that he is, and then he said “you touch her again and see what happens” and I melted 🫶

Cora Holland is such a beautifully written character. At the beginning of the story she is understandably fearful of the world but watching her gain her strength back, rely on her friends, learn to trust again and fall in love was just beautiful to witness! I giggled and kicked my feet so many times and the scene in both the telephone box in London and in her bedroom made me swoon 🔥

I loved both of these characters and being able to still have glimpses of my favourite group of friends (including my faves Rory and Finn) really makes this book feel lived in. The writing was beautiful and I may have screamed aloud a couple of times but trust me the ending is going to have you gagged!

Genuinely, if you want a beautifully written, enemies to lovers with a man who would literally burn the world and everyone in it for her, then this is the book for you 🫶💫

Thank you again to the author for an e-arc ✨

I love me a good bodyguard romance, phew. 😮‍💨

Through reading Starstruck & Wonderstruck, I was so intrigued by Cora and the way her storyline was going to go, and I think the author did such a wonderful job with it in Moonstruck. I've never read, or even really heard of, an influencer x bodyguard romance, so I thought this was such a unique idea. I love that all of the characters in this story are from different backgrounds and have such different interests.

Cora and Marcus were everything. I thought it to be very realistic that Cora didn't open up to Marcus right away, and that it took quite a bit of time for her to warm up to him. Cora, being an influencer as well as an art enthusiast, was very intriguing; it was so fun to dive into who she really is and why. As for Marcus, we love a man who yearns! I knew from his POV in Chapter 2, with the chapter title being "the audacity of this man makes me sad to be one", that I was going to like him. 😆

I'm ITCHINGGG for Daisy & Jesse's story, oh my gosh. I cannot wait for book 4. The author continues to deliver! The scraps of them in this book actually have me on the edge of my seat for their story. The found family trope in this series is actually everything, and I don't want it to end. I just know that she is going to tie this series up beautifully, and I am eager to see how it is done!

Thank you so much to the author, Holly Jukes, for an e-arc! 🫶

Moonstruck ARC Review

i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Moonstruck by Holly Jukes. All opinions are my own and given freely. 🤍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
🌶️.5/5

content warning: mentions of sexual assault, mentions of an ill parent, early-onset alzheimer's disease, strong language, scenes for readers 18 and over.

“she wasn’t just someone i cared about. she was it. the one i’d burn the world for to keep safe. the one i’d burn for.”

i fear holly has turned me into a bodyguard romance lover! moonstruck was absolutely incredible and so worth the wait! since the first book in this series, i have been so curious and intrigued by cora and her story. i think holly did a such beautiful job of telling her story. i loved every second of reading this book! i will forever be obsessed with anything and everything holly writes! and i cannot wait for everyone else to fall in love with this story as much as i did!

cora and marcus may have taken the title of my favorite couple out of this entire series!! the way they cared for each other and the love they have for each other was just perfection. the tension and chemistry between them was strong from the very beginning. just their overall connection felt so genuine, it made it that much easier to root for them. and honestly, everything about them just felt right; they fit so well together.

i’m beyond excited for daisy and jesse’s story!! once again thank you so much for giving me the chance to moonstruck early! 🤍

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I fear I have a new obsession.

The storyline was great and engaging. I really found myself fully invested and caring for the main characters. I loved how there was clear communication between the characters. Another thing I liked was that everything connected so well even the bits of movie trivia.

I loved our headstrong fmc, Cora. I loved how we saw her grow from where she felt shattered after the attack to her old self again and stronger. I loved seeing her get her spark back thanks to Marcus. She really is an fmc to look up to.

Marcus, is a mmc I fell head over heels for. He was so caring and protective and not just because he was Cora’s bodyguard. He genuinely had a good heart and cared for people which I loved 🥹 He can protect me any day haha

Overall I absolutely loved this book. It honestly had everything you could want in a good romance book. And oh my did the plot twists catch me off guard!! The Hunger Games mentions were my fav thing 🥹

I cannot recommend this book enough if you cannot tell.

Thank you so much to the author for an e-arc of this INCREDIBLE book 🥹💜

I love a good bodyguard romance and this one did not disappoint.

I’ve been waiting for Cora’s story since starting the series. Her feelings were written so authentically and it was so easy to immerse myself into her character. I loved watching her start to love herself again and overcome what happened to her. That plot twist though. Did not see that coming. I was shook when I read it cause I was like there was no way.

I really wished the last few chapters weren’t so rushed. I feel like there could have been more to explore with their lives after wrapping everything up but the ending was still perfect. Can’t wait for Daisy’s book next.

I received an ARC of the novel but this is my honest opinion.

Ahhhhh!!!! Im absolutely obsessed!!!!
I had the amazing opportunity of this being my first ever ARC! And I was not let down!

I haven’t related to a book character of this deep of a level in years. I loved how much the book focused on Cora recovery from the assault. Recovering is a long journey and it nice to have a reminder sometimes that you’re not alone in it all.
I loved the mix of being unique while also feeling like a classic romance. BUT THE PLOT TWIST! Oml…

There was a few spelling mistakes I noticed throughout the book but it didn’t take away from how much I loved this book. Was my first book of hollys have I now become a forever fan!

Late ARC review! 🌕✨️🎨🖼

Cora is such an amazing woman, a strong one, that deserves all the secure and gentle love Marcus can provide. I love how everything in their romance isn't that rushed and that it gives space for personal growth and time for them to know more of each other.

I had a guess early on in the start of the book, wasn't so thrilled i got it right and i did like the added twist.

Excited for Daisy's book! 🫶

3.5⭐️ they were cute together but the miscommunication between the 2 drove me insane sometimes. I had a feeling it was Oscar behind the sabotage but didn’t expect the Arthur plot so that was interesting. Overall it was ok, the ending is kind of underwhelming but I’m not sure if the author is dedicating the 4th book for them so we will just have to wait and see.

I really enjoyed this book!! Thank you so much to the author for an ARC copy 💫🌙

This was the first Liberty Grove book I’ve read and I’ll DEFINITELY be going back to read the previous 2 before the next release!

Cora really went through it bless her heart, you really feel her emotional turmoil. The romance building with Marcus didn’t take away from her personal journey back to normality, his dedication to helping her daily battle and her safety was so lovely and sweet but SHE did that 👏🏼

The plot twist at the end was a surprise!! The switch up to thriller style narrative was exciting, it did get intense quickly with a very swift vibe change that took me off guard but it was done well.

Can’t wait for the next book!

🎨ARC Review
Moonstruck genuinely surprised me, and not in the way I was expecting. Watching Cora and Marcus grow, both individually and together, while navigating their pasts was deeply emotional and rewarding. Cora is strong even when she feels anything but. Stubborn in the best way, with wit and charm that made her impossible not to love. Marcus brings major protective German shepherd energy. While also being soft, steady, and a true safe space for Cora as he works through his own guilt. “To be loved is to be known” perfectly captures the heart of this story as they slowly learn what that truly means. I can not wait for Daisy and Jesse ♡
