Be Still: Designing and Leading Contemplative Retreats

Rate this book
Many people long for a deeper relationship with God, yearning for silence in a noisy world and a respite from busyness. Written for lay and ordained leaders who wish to bring the gift of space and silence to members who feel called to the contemplative journey, the book introduces the purpose of retreats, provides a theological and biblical understanding of the model, and offers guidance for designing and leading these gatherings. Sample retreats, a design for home retreats, and suggested resources are included.

Besides practical suggestions and insights for leading contemplative retreats, this work also offers an exploration of what it means to be a Contemplative, to seek practices that invite the presence and experience of God personally and communally.

As the full title suggests, this book provides practical and spiritual guidelines towards the formation and leadership of contemplative retreats. In addition to this, or perhaps as the words, "Be Still", suggest, it encourages the reader towards a life of contemplation and shares the importance of contemplative living in ones personal spiritual growth as well as in the leadership and guidance of others.
