From Catholic Bible Enthusiast, Meg Hunter-Kilmer brings us an easy to understand, 12-week, thought-provoking Bible devotional. I personally appreciated the background text provided and the questions particularly helpful, especially since I lead my own Bible study with both Catholics and Protestants of varying Christian maturities and experiences.

That being said, I myself am devoutly Protestant, so I did bump into a few controversial ideas here and there, but none of those took away from the overall quality of the book.

Also, huge thanks to Ave Maria Press for the copy!!!

This 12-week Bible study is for anyone who:
- is just starting out on their faith journey
- is a cradle Catholic or Christian
- has participated in many Bible studies before
- has never participated in a Bible study

As a lifelong Catholic who has led and participated in several Bible studies, I wasn't sure what there would be to gain from this, but was eager to read through and see. This study goes through pivotal moments in Jesus' life, and ties many back to key Old Testament references as well. There is an excellent note at the beginning for leaders with tips, and this is a study that could essentially lead itself. If you are someone looking for a deeper dive into scripture with a Bible study, this seems like a great option!

The reflection questions with each chapter were the right mix of personal life application and response to the biblical story with 'how does this story apply to my life.' I'd love to go through this with a group.

Thank you to Meg and the team at Ave Maria press for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

Who is Jesus? Discovering Christ in the Gospels is a delightful 12-week Bible Study to better introduce you to the person of Jesus. It walks through the gospels to better introduce the reader to person of Jesus. While written from the perspective of, or rather directed in particular to, a new believer or disciple, it can be appreciated by anyone at any faith level. Each chapter will provide a Gospel reading and then a very helpful section of background notes that bring context and explanations to aspects of the story that may not seem to make sense or that could be misunderstood with our culture practices today. The questions posed are insightful and guide the participant to thoughtfully consider the connection from the story and person of Jesus to their own life in its present state. I enjoyed the relatability and applicability of the insights and questions while inviting me to know Jesus more personally and more in-depth.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

I have listened to many of Meg Hunter-Kilmer's talks but this is the first book of hers I have read. A short bible study appealed to me but I wasn't sure it would be available where I live outside the US so I reached out to Meg for review copy, which she provided. As a Catholic, I found the selection of gospel readings and reflection questions inspiring. As a teacher, I also found the format of the book well thought out and inspiring, as well. I never thought of myself as any kind of bible study group leader, but after going through the book I starting to consider how I would use it myself in a small group study myself.

Wonderful book. My teenage daughter and I are reading this together and it has become the best part of our day. The author has a way of explaining the gospels that my daughter understands. Getting a teenager excited about the gospels can be difficult, but Meg Hunter Kilmer has a way of making you want to know more about Jesus. Definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking to deepen their love of the gospel.

Want to know Jesus better but not sure where to start?

The obvious place is the Gospels—and this Bible study from Meg Hunter-Kilmer will help you better understand them and, therefore, Jesus.

A great introduction to Meg’s best friend and mine, Jesus Christ.
